I did not use it specifically for Pain Medication but I did use cannabis to nix a huge chunk of pharmaceuticals from my daily life. I am so much healthier because of it.
bud i do not know your pain is it in/out your mind ,body depends where
& what strains too do the best job fighting pain *
at one point i tryed the real east coast diesel velvetsoft nicedense grande size buds very hard too break down very mellow mobbb deep high inside upbeat outside ! now im on some indian christmas goody the dark brown

I tried it and it worked. Problem is, I could not afford the bud to stay off!
Was on larger dose of opiates, u name it! I felt no withdrawal after 2 weeks. Problem is, no mmj and plenty of pills.
I will need to get off again for back sugery. Now, I have a secret and know I can do it in a few weeks, as opposed, to the proposed 6 mos. of getting off the large dose!
I just toked whenever i could. I did use organic kush a grower gave me. I would suggest something else that doesn't knock you on your permanent ass, though!
That is just me. Even though I take pills, I am suppose to set a clock to do so and don't, so I miss a lot and remember when I hurt too much. Just can't get the mindset, DO IT LIKE THE DR. TOLD YOU AND SET THE CLOCK. I've never adjusted to wanting to take the darn things! I pay as much for mmj for a month that my pills run for over a year! Good luck to you!
I am sure different medication works differently and my Dr. said, you really need a type of 'addicted personality' to not be able to get off them. Said, I do not seem to have that problem. Well, the pain is so bad now, it reminds me, all day long. Unless, I am using my mmj. pr :hippy:
Thanks Capt!! I will call my Dr. Monday!! I appreciate it. I switched to methadone years ago. But, it is just as hard to get off of as anything! This will be nice to try and do! Hope this info stays here, doubt it, since we can't list meds here! At least I know it though! This is very useful info. If I get it, will check back in and let you know! Thanks again! Much appreciated!:rastasmoke: pr
No problem.Quote:

indica all the way mate. a nice fat spliff to take the pain away
I was taking Codine, Vicodine and Somas among others for a back / nerve injury. I was addicted to an extent. Daily pain all the time . Marijuana(Indica fer sure) relieves my pains just as much as those narcs, faster acting too. It cost more unless you grow your own , but pill = illQuote:

Actually, FWIW, hybrids of Indica and Sativa actually work the best for most pain, especially in moderate to heavy doses. The indica can leave one feeling almost as drugged as the opiates can and sativa can actually make pain worse due to it's high THC content. However a mix of both can alleviate pain while allowing a person to still be highly productive and get stuff done. That is why you will hear people say "it depends on your problem and the strain". Each strain has a different ratio of cannabinoids and each of those cannabinoids has a different effect on the body. Some are antispasmodics, others are anti-inflammatories. Yet still others allow you to direct your focus on something other then the pain and others act as actual painkillers. I'm sure there are plenty more who's effect has yet to be discovered or understood. It is also theorized that when Cannabis is burned that even more variations of cannabinoids are created.
It is the ratio of these many active ingredients that make up a particular strains cumulative effects. You can even use a poultice of leaves (or buds) or an extract of resin in oil or alcohol directly on the skin of the affected area as well. It may even be more effective than inhalation in some cases eg. bacterial infection or muscle pain. The skin absorbs chemicals placed on it and transports them to the nearest tissues. Therefore this is a more direct route to getting the effective agents to the affected area. That's why liniments were invented in the first place. :) Some people may not be able to ever get off their prescription painkillers completely but they can sure increase the effectiveness and cut their use of them way down.
IronDog~ I humbly offer a few treatments for your back pain: inversion, ultrasound and electric muscle stimulation or EMS. An inversion table costs anywhere from $100-$400 and an ultrasound machine about $130 and a TENS/EMS machine (if you live in the US you need to get a prescription for it) starts at around $75. For less than an ounce of good buds you have three additional treatment methods to help you rid yourself of chronic pain (if you don't buy the $400 super deluxe inversion table like I did ;)). I have successfully used inversion and ultrasound therapy to help control my back pain for over 2 years now. I only use NSAIDs (mainly ibuprofen) occasionally and Cannabis when I can afford it. I will use a muscle relaxer if I am in absolute agony due to a spasm as well. I would also be using a EMS/TENS machine too except I can't afford to pay to see a doctor to prescribe me one. Unfortunately my government doesn't think I am smart enough to use one without a doctor watching over me. Ugh I hate authoritarians!
Oh, and if you can, you should probably use these treatments under a doctors supervision as I don't know how serious your condition is and one or more of these treatments could possibly make it worse. Although I believe you know your body best and can feel if you over do it. I personally have never had any adverse side effects other than mild discomfort due to over stretching very tight muscles, but everyone is different.
I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck staying off those killer pills. You will surely have a better quality of life because of it.
Blessed be~
The source of the pain determines what strains are most effective against it.
Sativas are generally used for nerve pain or inflammation, and indicas are effective against muscle aches and stress-related back/neck problems.
Furthermore, Cannabis in general has long been known to be very useful in counteracting the effects of opiate withdrawl and allowing people to 'get clean' off strong perscription meds that are harming them more than they are helping.
Best of luck to you.
what kind of pain meds are you trying to quit? and what kind of pain do you have?Quote:

So it really matters what you are taking and your type of pain and the Lvls.
Good Luck I hope you can do it
I quit 60 mg Oxycottin , 3200 mg Neurotin , 10 mg Lunesta , and a cpl. percocet a day almost cold turkey due to the herb . :D
My liver , kidneys love me for it .
Crispi :stoned:
One of my contacts in the med community quit morphine (spinal injury) substituting a cross of White Rhino and Thunderfuck. Doc told him he'd be dead soon of renal failure if he didn't get off the opiates. He's real satisfied with the MMJ so far.
And a close friend got clean off a 10 year recreational opiate habit by smoking, without methadone.
Good attitude and good herb combined, and you've got a winning combination.
I no longer take pain meds for my sciatica and neck and back problems MMJ helps w/ my insomnia too.
D
thanks for all your usefull information:)Quote:

I talked to my family doctor about MM and told him how much healthier I'd feel and he recommended it for me.
Thankfully the MM makes the pain go away, and I went from taking 8-10 pills a day to 1-3 a day to manage the pain. So I feel it seriously helped me cut back and I know I wont need them much longer. My stomach isn't feeling shitty either anymore.
Random side note, but since MM I've quit smoking as well. But I think thats more because I can't get up as often to get outside and smoke haha but I feel that the herb helped cut my cravings (well, except for food haha).
