Hey guys, first time poster. Ive been smoking for about 4 months. I always get the munchies after i smoke and ive kinda been gaining some weight. Is there anything that you can do to stop them?

I havnt heard of anything. Get a box of wheatables. Those things are delicious and healthy. The only downside is you could probably kill a box in one munchies sitting.
Resist the desire to eat.
Eat then smoke?
Avoiding munchies might run you into the taboo "other drug" area.

I agree, just eat stuff like fruit, crackers, peanut butter, trail mix, etc... that stuff tastes amazing when you're high plus its healthy.Quote:

u know what u can eat that will be good tasting and filling and very low on calories?
1. Balsamic vinegar + raw and fresh broccoli heads + salt
or any simple salad formula (of course not with a ton of dressing @ 120 calories per spoon!)
2. oh im not sure if u can do this or not, but if u have access to any Iranian/persian, Mediterranean or middle eastern markets, there is some really sour fruit that will be an excellent filler and can be eaten with salt... however im not sure if u can find it all year round or in all states. im sure houston got it and california got it during summer.
it will probably be a lil expensive.

I used to eat a ton of these and cucumbers + tomatoes (all with some salt added) as munchies back home during summers, then i came to america and found out wal-mart & whataburger n became americanized even in munchies!
3. another very simple salad that u can make @ home: cucumbers + raw onions + tomatoes + some dried oregano or other herbs + lemon juice and salt n pepper (spices)
cut all into cubes (a tad bigger than dice) and mix well with lemonjuice and salt n pepper n herbs, u can add whatever other spice u want to it.
again for sour-friendly mouths
i donno if water helps much, i have tried using it, maybe it fills u up a bit but if u r like me, then that pain of hunger will be back in no time.
remember that many fruits got sugar and eating them in excess will also result in gaining weight, but still healthier than most factory-made snacks!
or as it was said above, just simply resist the temptation, make yourself busy doin somethin so u wont have to sit around and eat, or do as u wish and eat but go work out as well.
gaining weight cuz of weed is one of the worst excuses, it only means u get high and sit around n eat... i myself went thru it a good while ago and am still payin the price by working my ass out every day, thank god im almost done with sheddin the fat off...

A year ago, when I was at home, I became a masticating machine. My mom stacked the pantry from string cheese, to animal crackers, to cold steak cuts from the night before. Damn I miss that.
Now im flatting in apartments in New Zealand I only have healthy filling options like oatmeal and cereal. I eat till im full but its so boring I dont want more.
I always feel grotty when im burnt out and bloated full so I dont mind

I tend to eat less lardy and regretful munchies as well as making up for the consequences at the gym or whatever you fancy for exercise. You can enjoy yourself and still enjoy your self.
Don't buy the bad stuff when you're shopping because if it's in the house, you'll eat it. The self-control takes place primarily in the grocery store.
Get fruit, it's lovely stuff when stoned, especially strawberries.
If I am feeling irrational munchies I'll usually drink some water, juice, or eat Jelly (Jell-O) or have a piece of gum. Don't overdo it on the gum though or your arse will regret it, literally.
self control.. that's the only method I use honestly.
If I'm genuinely hungry I try to eat something healthy. Worst case situation i eat some popcorn and a 20 oz Soda (sierra mist sees to work well due to high carbonation content) and I feel full for about 2 hours or so.

Eating super healthy food would be great, but if you want to totally rid yourself of the munchies, I think fructose (sugars found in fruits) would be a good idea.

When you eat fructose it goes directly to your liver. Your liver has the choice of converting it into glycogen for your muscles, glycogen for itself (the liver), or fat. What it chooses to do will basically depend on how much glycogen is currently stored in your liver. If your liver glycogen stores are low it will first store the fructose in the liver because fructose is four times as efficient at replenishing liver glycogen than glucose is. Fructose isn't bad for you, but it's not that great either. I stay away from it when I'm trying to lower my body fat.

i have to admit he is right. the actual best way to curb the munch is to enjoy it and GO WORK OUT to make up for it. also do all u can to keep your metabolism working as fast as possible, that way u can burn more calories by just sitting around than you would normally do.Quote:

what always seems to work for me is...make sure you dont go grab something from a fast food joint cause i know you will just go crazy and order about everything on the menu. another option is get an apple munch on the and sip on water fills u up...!
The only thing that works for me is to exercise. A lot. After i exercise and that night i am always extra hungry, whether i have smoked or not. So i will always eat a lot, and if i have the munchies at the same time, sweet.
Another trick is to wait longer to eat than you would normally do. I will sometimes eat dinner an hour later because then i will not snack (as much) after.
Remember Cannabis is medicine, which causes appetite stimulation for some serious illness'. So it is not something easily reversed. POWER OF THE HERB!:stoned:

My 1st thot was the "s" word, but laughed when I finally saw it!
since I am single, I sip on a sports drink and some are almost calorie free now! It takes care of the thirst, leaves the sweet/sour taste and seems to do the trick. Then go exercise, as above, or go to sleep, like me!
I may eat a bowl of nutritional cereal or the remaining portion of my meal. I intentionally set aside half my dinner for the occasion or half lunch: I stick it aside and finish it for the 'munchies' so I do not eat extra. By getting protein it helps you maintain energy, so I try to just eat meal type of foods in usual portions. And you spend your entire life on a diet! Plus, I just don't keep junk in the house and I won't go buy anything when I've been medicated, well enough for munchies!
A few years ago I decided to choose the highest calorie items in my diet and take them out, one each year! I first started with coke--my biggest weakness (since they mess with the formula, it didn't taste so good anymore anyway), lost 50 pounds that year! Next year candy bars (since that was not a weakness 4 me, it didn't have as much of an impact). I choose one thing a year and am leaning on not so much milk for next year and starting it out now.
Move to the country, like me, no delivery service of any kind!!! Well, maybe bud, but that's it! The fast food places are starting to move into the town, 10 miles away--KFC/Taco Bell; Foster/wienerschntzl: and a few others. I have not been to any of them yet. Went thru Big M's took one bite and it is in a bag for the trash!
Suck on calorie free candy, they have some good stuff on the market. You know you arent' hungry so tackle it beforehand, as per all above suggestions!
Best option: Indulge, plan it and eat less during the day. Pick something that you love more than anything: Like a good fruity sorbet and go for it! Not every night though. Get creative! Good Luck, if you can make a hybrid that cures it--you would be a rich person!! pr:jointsmile:

For me, I just ignore them. eventually i just forget about them. Of course, if i have some snacks, i cant stop myself. lol
