Got your message but did not see a way to reply so.....
check out the last few pages of my log......not sure which bad news you mean by previous bad news.
If by previous bad news you mean my dog having cancer and being put to sleep then yes there is more.
If by previous bad news you mean that I have just been diagnosed with incurable lung cancer then no......that's "newest" news I have.

I'm so sorry... I don't know what else to say. That is overwhelming. I will come visit your log and try to catch up- why does Fate serve the hardest lot to the kindest people?

Dear W.H.
I understand.
I know, first hand, what happens in your head when you get the diagnosis.
My doctor phoned mine in. (different Island)
Please try not to attach the word "incurable" to your situation.
That's giving up.
And it's not accurate.
If your brain tells your body that you can't win, your body might believe it.
Convince your friends and they may also believe it and withdraw to limit their pain.
Small cell is a bitch, but not completely incurable.
I have a dear friend on the mainland that beat small cell in the lung.
She's doing great 10 years after.
Held my hand prior to my surgery.
Told me exactly what to expect every step on the way.
Information conquers the worst fear, fear of the unknown.
The part that really bothered me, was "the look".
God how I hated "the look".
Now when someone hears the bad news and gives me that look,
I grin and tellum, "I'm standin' right in front of you and I'm not dead yet.
Relax, I WILL beat this!"
Lotta things out of our control, ya? :(
One important thing that we still control is our attitude.
Good thing that we are more than meat.:)
The power of the human will is yet un-fathomed.
Call it a miracle, call it luck, call it love, call it mind over matter.
But, your attitude CAN beat this.
You have a lot of fans here, (I'm one of 'em).
A good attitude is contagious, so, infect your friends and family!
We can, and will beat this!
Aloha nui loa,
Weezard

It is indeed Fear that is our biggest enemy.
Thanks Weezard. And to hear about my exact type of cancer helps immeasurably.

Reaper I've heard stories about you......and "C" (you know the ph of your water....:D)
Folks like you, Weezard and X-Crispi are my main models......X-C especially is an example of "blowing the statistics right out of the water" so there won't be any giving any quarter from our end. :)
And Weezard.....I've thought about the word incurable but I don't consider that particular word a "loser" word although I can see how some folks would.
Someone with diabetes or some such are also "incurable" but can live complete full lives in spite of an "incurable" situation so thats just my 2 cents on it. :stoned:

Life is incurable. :D
Those first three months or so after the "news" are rough.
When depression came a knocking I damn near let it in.
I don't fear death at all.
Been dead, ( motorcycle crash in '93, 6 weeks induced coma, died twice, long story), but it's not that big a deal.
I'm a real sissy about pain though.
Hit the books instead.
Waded through the internet dreck gleaning an actual fact now and again.
Frustrating! and time consuming.
Finally realized that this qualified as a "rainy day":)
Cracked open my dusty coin purse and actually bought books!
(did I mention that even the birds call me cheap?)
Been studying for 2 years now. And I see dedicated, brilliant folks digging for answers.
You are welcome to any acorns that I find.:giveflower:
Your comment about the word tells me you have a handle on this.
I no worry about you, now.
<Takes da pennies and runs>;)
Love and Aloha

I guess I got it easy.......my first chemo day they handed me no less than SIX INCHES of great books and info on lung cancer so I have not toiled too much on the internet but I know exactly what you mean.......really if you look hard enough on the net you can find something to fit ANYTHING YOU WANT......but getting an "actual fact" as you suggested (some trustworthy ones anyway) is very hard on the web so I was pleased to get good solid info right off the bat. :)

Good one.:D
But, you do have it covered with talent and resources.
When it comes to medical care, Hawaii is the "Third world state".
Here, for anything more serious than a hangnail, one must fly, boat or swim to Honolulu.
Any doctor with actual talent that moves to the outer Islands is immediately swarmed and swamped with patients.
The best one can expect from them is a tense 20 minutes consultation and a fistful of pharmeceutical promoting pamphlets.
The libraries are just sad.
So, ya wanna know, ya gotta pay.
Don't mean to knock Hawaii, I love this place.
Heaven on earth, and a bag of chips!:)
Just don't get sick here.
Please give my best to Mr. Weedhound.
The people who love us can use all the sympathy and support they can get.
I've lost two wives to Brain tumors.
Both parents and an older brother to cancer.
(Geeze, what a whiner, ya:D)
I now find that It's actually easier to be the "star" than it is to be a supporting player.:)
I'll bet he's not complaining, but I can see how this is affecting Mrs. Zard.
So, every now and then, I get her a card and pick her some flowers.
Here's a few for you guys to share.
And a big sloppy kiss from my best friend too!
Love and aloha
from Beeg Guy's Land.

Thanks Dr Spoof for the vibes, :)
I know what you mean about the supporting player thing as well/been on that side of the fence (among other fences, lol). Yes, I agree.....it IS easier than those who have to make all the same sacrifices but none of the attention or breaks.
I never meant for this thread to go on this long.....so if someone wants to close it or move it or something........Stinky sent me a pm but I couldn't find the damn reply button........

Aloha, Wee D'Hound
Tried to E you.
Was way overmedicated.
Had 3 Es going at once, (Sativa), then my phone rang and the UPS guy
knocked, etc.
If anything got through it had to be a mess.:stoned:
Next morning my outbox looked like my closet.
Far as I can tell, what got sent was gibberish
Tried to sort it out and send an apology, but, it bounced. <sigh>
So, a bit more public this way, but I do apologize for my self-induced sloppiness. :o
What I tried to write was an offer to exchange information on treatment options.
That, and a mash note fr0m my pup.:)
She keeps trying to "bump" your avatar with her nose.:)
Cute, ya?
But kinda messy.
All da bes' from me an Jess.

Mahalo nui loa!
And thanks for the tiny green boxes;)
A1oha Weedhound,
Here's a li'l sumpin for the next time you feel blue;
Most folks think "Weezard" is an Oz. reference.
A "paper wizard" if you will.
Built from ego and illusion.;)
Actually Wee is an adjective and 'Zard is a contraction.
I shall now reveal my true identity.
Most of the time we live in the frontal cortex of our brains.
How-some-ever, when startled or threatened we react from deep
in the main stem. ('cause I can't spell amygdyla):)
commonly refered to as the "lizard brain".
It's not long on reasoning, so I try to nevah do or say anything when scared.
That alone, gives the impression of a rational person.
Bottom line, it's all an illusion. :D
Here's my driver's license picture;
Peace, love and courage,
Wee, itty bitty, T- ninety, 'zard

I'm off to "feedback" to gripe about it.

Oh darling, I'm so, so, so sorry. And I mean that with every fiber of my being.
I'm a cancer survivor hun and let me tell you what I know, with the technology they have today cancer isn't always a death sentence. They have chemo, radiation and medicine patterns that can kick cancer's ass efficiantly and without the crazy side effects that used to be a given.
Were here for you hun. No matter what.
We love you darling!

The variety is called Dragon's Breath Hibiscus.
Hibiscus grow like weeds here.
Blue is my favorite color, can ya tell?;)

I remember when we visited Hawaii when I was 18 the one flower smell I absolutely LOVED (and still do) is plumeria. I absolutely ADORE the scent of those flowers and they are what I remember most about Hawaii. Pretty long ago but lovely nonetheless.

Thanks for waking that memory for me.:)
When you step off the plane onto the tarmac at the Kona airport
the Plumeria scent wraps around you. sweet and warm, and somehow silky dark.
Just above the airport are three large plumeria farms and the trade winds swirl it to you.
When you've been there a while though, you can't smell the forest for the trees.;)
I was in Kona in '91 for the total eclipse.
A deeply moving experience.
Had forgotten the sea of aroma that is Hawaii.
At totality, the birds went quiet, and a confused chorus of night frogs, n critters happened in fits n starts.
Expected that.
What was overwhelming, was the scent.
After a minute or two, the daytime Plumeria and Orchid, and Palm, etc. was swept out to sea and the abrupt transition to night scents was awe inspiring. It just "makes you cry for happy".
It's usually a gradual transition that few notice. At least I hadn't.
Probably when/why I fell in love with Hawaii.
Said, someday, I'm gonna just up and move there.
Motorcycle wreck showed me that the future is never guaranteed.
So, I just up and moved here.:)
E Como Mai. means Welcome.
Come visit our island.
I have 12 Plumeria trees on a 1/4 acre.
Come sit on my Lanai and enjoy them.
Take a vacation and never go back.
A Hui Hou,
Weezard

Weeze, thinking about folks like you and X-C help me in ways that you can't believe.....actually knowing people who have been through worse and persevered is something I think about constantly.......and helps more than you guys know.
But everyones' kind thoughts and hopes for us also mean so much......I can say that I am usually a very private person and there are many people I deal with daily who don't know......but I have no trouble spilling my guts here at cdot!! :)

Mahlo nui for all you have taught me, W. H.
Have read most of your posts, so far.
And we all need somewhere to spill.:)
It's the nature of this media to give a sense of intimacy/immunity.
It eliminates "Image prejudice" as a bar to communication and acceptance.
(Though I've seen folks react to avatars):)
All we see here are crystallized thoughts and emotions that bleed from another mind's fingertips.
I met an incredible author on the BBs world in the '80s
Read a short story that made me cry.
Had I met the author first, in person, my visual bigotry would have labeled him grungy slob.
And my life would be the poorer for it.
But, first, I saw a soul with heart and depth.
Then, I met the "Grungy Slob."
We've been friends for 25 years now.
Apparently, the web also makes Wee Zards ramble as well.
Sorry about that.:stoned:
Love and Aloha
Wee
