Is there really any hope for humanity?
People are slowly becoming less and less empowered and less independent; the general public have almost NO connection with their mind (meditation, dreaming, psychedelics) and feel that what's going on NOW is all that's real; kids are getting dumber and dumber.
With that being said... what's next? The entire world seems to be moving in the wrong direction, as the government gets more and more power vs. the individual. Some laws (especially "certain" prohibition laws) are based on no real facts.
As far as this whole "dumbing the nation down" thing goes... I think that it's all part of a plan to keep us out of something THEY are afraid to experience. For example psychedelics (including good ol' MMJ of course) are often referred to as 'doors to the mind'; meditation CAN get you there, but it takes a lot of training and discipline.
----
Anyway! The general public are becoming more and more close-minded and genuinely AFRAID to change and accept other people's ideas.
Religion is an early ploy to govern people's actions by using fear (definition of terrorism?). But in our new age, it's much more profitable to split ideologies in order to create wars. Why? For money, of course!
----
Do people even naturally belong on earth? Our intelligence and thirst for more can only destroy everything else.
----
What if this "dream world" is where your soul lives and your physical body is only a host that gets used while it can function, then is exchanged for another body?
----
It's a known fact that after your pulse rate stops (you're dead), your brain activity doesn't cease until 10-15mins later. A cool idea I just came up with now is... you know how sometimes a dream can seem like a day or two (when, in fact, it was only 2-3 hours in reality)? Well what if... when you die and your brain starts releasing its DMT, you fall into a deep dream, where you live ANOTHER full life, and when you die in that second life, the cycle continues?

This is just some THC induced theory venting  (grammar isn't a big priority either :P)

I agree, people are not taking education as seriously as they should. And these people mate and have children with similar dissinterests in learning.
But about the whole dream state when you die thing, I watched a thing on T.V. about something like this. They say that even though your brain is still active for a while that "dream state" is really just oxygen deprivation. And that's probably why people think they see heaven with their near death experiences.

I agree that people are becoming dumber... and if its hard for intelligent people to change their ways, its even harder for dumb people... so i think there is no hope.

See, back in the tribal days... the dumb people who purposely jumped off of cliffs are dead and people who were afraid of heights are still alive. Nature weeds out the weak.
(anyone catch that weak pun? Haha)

Hahaha.
Yeah I believe Darwin's Theory is quite evident. However it's not always allowed to do its job (That can be good AND bad).
Stupid people who do crazy shit, like tying cinder blocks to your legs and jumping in a pool or shaking the vending machine so hard it falls on you and crushes you, end up dying. Someone took a dip in people like these's gene pools.

nope. people are way to easily influenced and brainwashed. we are getting our rights and freedoms taken away but the average american would rather sit on their fat asses and watch some bullshit reality show then do something about it, or even care!
And I totaly agree with you on how they have phycedelics and weed illegal because it makes you think outside the box and that is the last thing they want
Also most people I know who are in to "politics" are caught up in the whole
"Left/Right bullshit when really they're both run by the same people behind the scenes.
Fortunately people like us are awake to whats going on, it's sort of like the matrix when Morpheous aks neo if he will take the "red pill" and wake up to whats really going on and ecape the bullshit, or take the "blue pill" which will keep him unaware to whats really going on but will make life easier
(if you have'nt seen the movie I reccomend it)

Yea, it's VERY much like the Matrix. The world is FULL of entertainments and things to keep you occupied and blissfully unaware. And the more you let them take bits of your freedom away, the easier it becomes.
I'm going to sleep, something tells me I'll have a interesting dream after all this thinking :D

If you read the Unabomber's Manifesto, he talks a LOT about how we've come to take on all these meaningless tasks and goals, "surrogate activities", to satisfy/pacify our need for attaining power, the "power process", and the amount of effort needed to achieve our goals.
"When people do not have to exert themselves to satisfy their physical needs they often set up artificial goals for themselves. In many cases they then pursue these goals with the same energy and emotional involvement that they otherwise would have put into the search for physical necessities."
"In modern industrial society only minimal effort is necessary to satisfy one's physical needs. It is enough to go through a training program to acquire some petty technical skill, then come to work on time and exert very modest effort needed to hold a job. The only requirements are a moderate amount of intelligence, and most of all, simple OBEDIENCE. If one has those, society takes care of one from cradle to grave."
I've only gotten halfway through his rants and ramblings, but a lot of it is very sound.

Although religion has been (ab)used by the people in power as a means to achieve mass support for wars, you mentioned just before this your worry about people forgetting how to explore their mind. Maybe the decline of religion is itself a cause of this. You mention meditation as a way to access closed "doors", meditation has been used in nearly all forms of religion. Also it is true that many religions have used entheogens (drugs used to achieve a spiritual experience) e.g. mescaline, ayuahasca (DMT).

I would say yes because we naturally evolved on this planet, maybe the synthetic things we invented on this planet do not belong. However inventions could be viewed in a similar way to biological evolution. For example coal power stations were inefficient and damaging which lead to initiatives to replace them with solar power, wind turbines, hydro electric dams etc. If you mean "do we belong in terms of morality?" this could be paradoxical as humans invented the construct of morality so these rules could not be applied to us if we were never there to create them.

Hope for what? A better tomorow? Life will go on, people will keep living, things will change. Some things will get better, others worse. There will always be conflicts in existance, its just how things work.
Things may appear to be getting bad, but just think of what our pathetic lives would be like in the 13th century, we'd all be laboring in a field for some crazy inbred bastard who claims to be chosen by god to take advantage of everybody.
Why worry about the future, the only thing that matters, the only thing that is real is the present. The past and future are just figments of your imagination. I believe things have to get worse before they get better, and once things are better the only way it can go from there is worse. As the cycle continues I am grateful I am living in the time I am now.

My thoughts are maybe a little twisted but I kind of see it like this.
If there were an arsehole scale from 1 to 10 ,, I think I would probably place myself around 4.
Since I know (and have met) many who would probably score higher, and most politicians and lawyers score around 9, I would have to say we are royally screwed.

I truly believe that we are all of one origin and that consciousness is completely connected to eternity. Everything we value in this world is but part of a grand illusion (yes...just like the STYX song). So what is True? Can scientists explain what encompasses everything? I love scientists because they eloquently reveal God's handwriting. Just because the Son of Man judges his brother as guilty keeping us all in hell, that doesn't mean that God does. Freewill is a bitch sometimes and taking responsibility for this world we've created is the beginning of a new era and level of conscious. Wow, this is some good herb. MN

Man... i just finished reading it and its one of the best (if not the best) social critics i ever read. Its completly logical and reasonable, and a MUST read for anyone who is intelligent enough to understand it and thinks the actual society is really a big mess (to say the least).

man I need to read this book, I was driving to work today and its about 20 minutes so I have plenty of time to contemplate things and basically everything i was thinking about equals out to "surrogate activities". Seems like this will help describe some of the things i've had on my mind.

about religion:
a anthropologist major friend of mine told me recently that cannabis has been linked to early man and religion.
it is possible that this opened the door to an alterted state of consciousness which could have lead to an understanding or realization of "higher power"
just food for thought

Hope for humanity lies in the 'opening of the minds!' As you have diligently shared how well our medicine allows us that! My mind is in overdrive now!
Excellent thoughts. But, I am not sure education is totally to the wayside. I think the minds of the young'uns are being filled with hand-eye coordination and will do pretty well with the robots that will eventually be doing our surgery! Educational needs have changed tremendously, in my lifetime! math isn't as important as it was, everyone walks around with a calculator on their cell phone. So, use the brain cells to fill with info that isn't so easily attainable! Our world has changed. Even if it is still doing the same things over and over with war.
MORE POPULATION MORE DUMB PEOPLE!
I just hate really dumb people. But, I can't, I find an area of their mind that is so smart and stimulating in some area or a few.
I think the real dumb ones worship money, not God or any 'higher power!' You try to negotiate with a dumb person and they are deaf, dumb and blind.
The pot does open our minds with mental vision. The best discussions and thoughts I have ever heard come from this site and when I am in a group of the same.:hippy:

I suppose a lot depends on your definition of humanity.
I think humans will be around for a long time but I'm not sure how "humane" we will be.
