new to getting a card help please

ok so I'm looking into getting a mmj card. I'm only 19 yet I have been skating for a long time and I have had multiple Ankle problems and a back pain that comes and goes about once a month but when it comes it's terrible I can't stand or anything. The only thing I have medical records for is for a broken collar bone and a ankle sprain yet the docter says there is aparent previous damage to my ankles that have caused build up in my ankles making them sore and weak.

So I'm pretty sure I'm good with a legit reason to get one but the questions I have are this.

Do I need medical insurance to get it?

And I don't want anyone to know I'll get it mainly my parents. Will it go under any record like even if I'm under there medical insurance.

They live in Hawaii but I just recently moved to so cal. So any info you guys could help me out with would be great

Check with NORML's list of cannabis friendly doctors. Pick one. Make an appointment. Medicann's clinics are cheap and not fussy. Walk in with your records and the $ ($85- $250) and walk out an hour later, "California legal".

Getting the money will be the hard part. The appointment goes like this. Girl takes your height/weight/etc and your records. Doctor comes in with records. Asks if pot helps your pain. Gives you a quick lecture on the law and usage. You pay the girl. She gives you a paper. That's it. You are now "legal" to have 6 mature plants and 8 ounces of bud. :jointsmile:

Nothing except the paper from the doctor is needed to be "California legal". The County Cards, are purely optional! I don't have one, because I trust the local government about as far as I can toss the county courthouse! If you pay for the visit, the insurance company will never know! Your medical treatment is just between the doc and you.

I got low back pain once a month--PMS. Pot really helps the entire symptoms. Surely, your records would show that. It is no big thing. I do not know where you are here in CA, but some counties put it on your CDL if you get 'the card.' A recommendation is legal, etc and fits your needs.

There are lots of tiny muscles and things in the ankles. I do hope you are doing something, at your young age, to build up those muscles: At least, once you get your pain controlled enough! yeah I can smoke joints for my joints haha. But so yeah like I really can't have anyone know I have this card. So if I get just the paper do I need to carry that around. And what about when I go to dispenseries how does that work

The dispensary calls the doctor and verifies that you are his patient. Then you verify that you are you. Some places have their own cards- which don't got on your CDL and are good for that place only. Each place it's a bit different. Just make a copy of your letter, have CA ID and keep it all in your wallet. Friend of mine made a half sized copy- just barely readable. (Purses are so nice- no space problems!) - Granny:hippy:

California Driver's License - though it doesn't have to be a license; it can also be a regular DMV-issued California ID card.

I leave my doctor's recommendation in folded up in my wallet along with my CA ID. Like Granny stated, you have to go to the clubs during your doctor's business hours (unless he/she has a 24-hour verification service).

so if I see a we'd doctor and I get the prescription paper there's no way anybody can know I have it. Unless they see it. And if I get the actual card it might go on my cdl. What exactly do you mean it will go on my cdl

No one is going to know you have it. Some clubs give you a card which only works for that specific place. Get one of those and you dont have to worry about your drivers license.

Just get the doctor's recommendation. That's all you need. You don't have to worry about anything else. Don't even bother with the card, because it seems like you're really overanalyzing this.

when u get your prescripion n go get your state issued cannabis card.. accepted any an everywhere.... i live in nor cal n when ever im in l.a i just show them my state card n there's no problem.... it's the GOLDEN STANDerd

Doctor's don't give prescriptions. Just recommendations.

West Coast has it right. Use your recommendation and keep it in your wallet. My doc gave me 2 for that purpose! Not all counties put it on your CDL-don't fret. It costs more money, in most case's and you really don't need it: Unless, you want the State of CA that regulates your driving freedom's! If you were much older, I'd say, who cares. But, this information HWY and progress, you never know. Riverside County definitely puts it on your license. If you get pulled over, the officer knows!

If you get a CA ID, put it on that and let them tag it.

We have no idea what they do with it. If you regeister your guns, it probably won't make any difference to you. If you are against TOO much regulation by State and being watched-don't do it! You don't need it!

Most of all, DO WHAT YOU Feel Comfortable with and can afford!

The Club Card is not on your CDL, as prev. stated. Makes using your club easy!

O so yoru saying some clubs will like inform the dmv about you having a mmj card and it will get put on your CDL like if you were an organ donnor? And some clubs will just issue a card that works for that club? or like someone was saying just get the actual card when you get teh reccomendation? where do i get that state card?

Clubs issue cards like AAA, it is only good there. Right, you get a card for the specific dispensary, some have several stores! The clubs call your Dr. to verify your recommendation. No med until verification, so you wait! Unless, you are already have a source and this is a formality for you!

YOU NEED YOUR RECOMMENDATION ONLY. Then when you choose where you want to purchase your meds, you can get cards, if you want! You can buy a gift card at the grocery store, also! You can join a club that has all kinds of services available, if you want! Massage, spa, medicine, etc. $$$.

A State Card--I don't know, because I was told from a few mmj users the county I had to go to get my rec. PUTS IT ON YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE, so he let his expire and just went with recommendation. I did not inquire as to how. I did not care, don't want it attached in a computer somewhere someone will hack into! Or, if the Gov't decided to get a list and go door to door. I have read enough about security on this forum, I am going to be as stealthy as possible! I like my freedom! Never been in jail and have no desire!

I have, however, looked on line, where Granny and others politely sent me with fingers flying on the keys. I found what you get for how much money! I can recite some of what I recall. I know Norml was the big one! And it seems that got me everywhere I needed to go. Just decided by price, distance and service.

The county I actually live, issues nothing! But, there have been no arrests I am aware of. But, then I wasn't aware the club picketed the courthouse last week until I read Rebgirl's thread! So, don't rely on just one person! Re-read your thread, the info is there.

I do not register my weapons or my dog, but I keep my guns clean and my dogs vaccinated (when I have them). It is simply personal choice. I have license by the State for a specific type of work that is very costly! I am unable to use it! The state figures, since I have a license, I should receive a regular tax bill, yearly from them with the amount of money they expect I should earn in my profession! I am not crazy about the politics of my state or registering anything I don't have to! The Gov't needs off our property and out of our personal lives, so we can screw them up ourselves, if we please!

Go through the 'introduce yourself' threads (or Storm Crow's postings) and you will find a million posts with just about every answer you need or a link to the right spot. I have met a couple mmj user's in my area and none have State cards! Why have the yearly expense anyway. The medicine costs too much anyhow! Unless you have a reasonably priced source. In that case, come over, I'll take you to a good place that will give you all you all kinds of cards and bring plenty of money, cause that is what it is all about to some! Then you can share your source with me as a legit mmj user.

Didn't Granny tell you to go to Medicann clinic? I think I read they will issue you some sort of card while you wait, total cost $250.00! I'd look it up for you, but I can't cut and paste and have no clue how these computer genius's do it! I can hunt for it and gladly take you. One ounce is about $400. ! Money and the 'recommendation/ is all you need.

Until it is a federal thing with all states in, I do not want to participate! We know why people do not want to register their guns and I feel that way about the medicine I use. I don't have to get a special card to pick up opiates for a 2 month supply, why should I with any other med!

Do you think you need a state card? I think instead of a State card, I'd ask for an Rx for marinol (the doc I saw writes Rx's for it). That you can buy at a pharmacy and if you got into a State issue, you would test positive based on the medicine you picked up at a pill pharmacy, only difference is how you chew it!

Less paperwork, less money and less fear! Be legal where you live and it will be honored throughout the state! Not the next one over! (there is a thread on that going now, also). It seems, if you travel a lot, some other states may recognize a state card. Since, I drive most place's I just take my supply! Yes, you can buy smell tight devices! Mostly, they are used underwater, too!

Hope I made some sense and helped a bit. It is easy! You SAID you don't want anyone to know, so don't make it any bigger than you have to. You are hereby encouraged by all the members that have posted in your thread to go DO IT! Phone a clinic, they talk too!

Decide where you are going.
Get copies of your records or have them forwarded (takes about a week, in most case's)
Make an appt. at the clinic.
Take cash, most prefer it, some will take a credit card, but I doubt you want to put that on your parents card.
Keep your appt. Ask the doc about a state card, he'll tell you to get it, because they cost a lot. Where you live, it may be better. I asked the employees of my clinic, before I got in to the doc. I figured, most of them tok, I could smell it! I also figured, they must grow it as well. So, I got some growing info for my area. I went home very HAPPY.

We have monthly meetings for information. It is a relatively new clinic and not many show up since summer. I expect I will go next month. Hope more people show up. VEndors do!

After being on this forum a bit, I've come to think stealth is best. Get yourself educated and informed. May I encourage you to read the threads. You have pretty much all the info you need.

I needed a lot of encouragement, fearing registering anything, or having it in my medical records! With your ankles, etc. You need more than mmj, in my opinion. You do need some therapy, etc. I am sure you've had some. But, go all out. You will eventualy have arthritis in those ankles and when you get my age; you will realize, it was what you do now that effects your health later! So, do what you have to, to keep any growths in your ankle's from getting bigger and muscles weaker!!
