Hi, first post and first grow lol,
I am growing two skunk 1 plants in a area around 3 feet by 8 feet, with 4 foot flourescent lights, the temperature stays around 80 degrees,
the plants are around 3 week old and were growing lovely untill the leaves suddenly started to droop, the soil i am using holds water quite alot, so i saturate the plants and then let the soil dry for 3 days again before watering, on the third day i left the plant without watering the leaves started to droop so i watered, and its bein hours and still the leaves havent perked up yet.
what could be the cause of this??
please help and thanks in advance
Matt.

Would help if you filled out the troubleshooting guide, and if you could snap a couple of clear shots of the base of the plants, (including the soil) and one from the top looking down, that would be helpful, too.
Without any other info, looks like underwatering, but if no drainage, could possibly be low oxygen in the soil...?

Attempting to grow in compost is likely the problem. You need a potting soil.
Transplant asap, and make sure soil has perlite.

Thanks Rusty Trichome, could you please advise me on how to transplant because i imagine that the compost will be hard to remove from the roots of the plant?
Cheers, Matt

1st off,get yourself a bag of Perlite! Available from any garden centre, mix it with your new soil about 40% Perlite. Then take your plant, stem between your fingers and turn upside down, gently tap out the plant, then gently remove all compost that DOESN`T have roots in it,bit of your new mix in the pot to bring the plant up to height(you can bury a bit of your stem)then back fill and firm-jobs a good ùn.Just a few tips.... that looks like over watering to me,its better to water little and often than soaking and waiting 3/4 days to dry out, also dont use too big a pot as your plants wont be able to use up the water and will get oxygen starved and root rot-your roots need air.
Peace RM.

ok, thanks for the help its appriechated.
the plants seem to really have perked back up today, i placed some paper towels underneaf the pots to soak up water from the soil through the holes in the bottom of the pots, so would you still reccomend transplanting to a potting soil or maybe jus cool out on the watering and improve drainage??
Thanks, Matt.

Compost is used to ammend soil in your ourdoors garden. Potting soil is for...pots.
Compost will lower ph, does not drain well, and it just doesn't work as a stand-alone potting mix. Wouldn't matter how much perlite you add, it's not for cannabis. Contains stuff like weed seeds, roadkill, fungus gnat eggs, doesn't it?
As with all things in life, use the right tool for the job. It usually makes your life easier. Get some potting soil.

You have some major stretch going their... If you are serious about wanting to grow get a Decent Lamp maybe a T5 or something or substance... Transplant just get a bag of Miracle Grow is better then what you have going on their because you are not going w/ nutes probably (Just guessing) When you transplant pop it out the pot and loose what ever Shit you can then just drop in a new POT and add MG soil... Forget the Perlite and all crazy soils for the situation you are in now!!! Unless you want to make a investment by starting to use NUTES investing in a lamp ( Lots of Reading and studying) what are you going to use for the light's out periods? I see the plant in front of a window there? You should do some reading and rethink your situation... IMO Well Good Luck GL1

Hopefully it was just for the pix. The other shots look like a closet or box grow.
But yeah...keep the lights as close as possible. (2" or less for fluoro, if temps are ok)

Hi, yes the pictures on the windowsill was just because i couldnt get a clear shot where im growing them, and today i have been to two garden centres and literally all they sell is compost, and there big garden centres (homebase and a local garden centre) i found some potting compost, they had 3 kinds of it- potting compost numbers 1, 2 and 3 but i couldn't find potting SOIL.
Could you please reccomend where i could get this or would the potting compost be ok??
Thanks, Matt.

Perhaps the local yellow pages? I'm not sure about the potting compost...is it the John Innis brand? If there is no perlite in it, you'll want to get some to add before use. If it is JI, I'd go with the one that has the least fertilizer. (#1)

No problem...payin' it forward...
Likely plant will freak a bit after transplant, getting used to the new digs. Would just give ph'd water (while finding a watering schedule she likes) for first couple of weeks to see what her reaction will be.
For Miracle Grow potting soil, I know the nutes last about a month, but I've never used the JI, which may have a lower or higher concentration. I'm guessing it's a vegetative formula, versus a bloom formula...lol? You'll have to determine additional nutes by plant conditions, but when you do begin a nute regimine, start at a lower dosage, and aim for a max dosage over time. (a couple of weeks, to get both of you used to the nutes)

Dude, do you not have a walmart or something with a garden center nearby?? Walmart for sure carries potting soil. And Walmarts are located in every big and small town.

Wasn't recommending the JI, and am not at all sure if it would even work. But looking at the some of the mixes online, it depends on which product. Providing a link to exactly which product you are thinking about, would help us to help you.
If you can get something without added nutes, it's easier to diagnose ailments and treat the lady without throwing the nute balance further off-kilter. But regardless...get good quality whenever possible, and make sure it's recommended for potted plants.

Hi,
Levington John Innes No.1 Compost: Specially formulated for growing acid-loving or lime-hating plants
thats the john innes potting compost i saw at the garden centre.
and SAP420 no there arent any walmarts where i live, im from england, i dont even think theres one in like the whole country lol, i wish there was tho would make things a whole lot easier. and in all the garden centres i have been to i haven't seen one kind of soil except 'Levington Organic Choice Top Soil' there just all different kinds of compost lol
Cheers, Matt

Altho cannabis prefers it a bit on the acidic side, it's not an acid-loving plant. Will either need to add lime, or go with something else more twords the neutral (7-ish) ph and no added nutes, if possible.

JI No 12 works well.
By the stretching I would say your lights are too weak and too far from the plants.
Use a crossflow fan to strengthen the stalks or they won't be able to support themselves.

Add some extra perlite to your mix, especially if you are in the habit of watering too much!
And you need more light.
