Best Vaporizer? and Safe to use in dorm?
I am looking for a vaporizer, before I got back to school. I was wondering whats a good cheap one. I am looking for something under $250. Also are they safe to use in a dorm room? I don't want to set up any fire alarms or have the smell reek down the hall.

Hey, just a tip
Try to be a little more discreet with your questions. Reffering to dorm room usage is kind of looked down upon since it's against "da rules"
Just ask if they're smelly at all.
Just giving you a heads up, I don't want you to get yelled at by a mod...
I got in trouble once...a lot of people do. Just here to help out

Vapor odor is much less of a smell than any smoke. And unless you use a vape, you can't identify the smell.

Some say it smells like popcorn. Others say RAW marijuana (I.e weed without the smoke). I blazed with it in a dorm at PSU, no problem-o. I do think it smells but as long as you have your window open you should be chill, you should also try to exhale vapor out the window. I do however smoke entire bowls (8+ at a time) in order to get high. So I would say if you only fill like 1 or 2 bags then it would be fine to fill it indoors.

I certainly wouldn't choose a bag vape for that type of environment. Not very stealth. A direct draw model would be better. A Vapolution with AIW bowl instead of tubing would be easy to quickly put away. Even better, the Purple-Days vape doubles as an aromatherapy diffuser. Just plop the diffuser bowl on top and you're diffusing instead of vaping. The vapor tube is small and can be easily stuck in a pocket or drawer. Box vapes like Vapor Bros. and Vaporwarez have aroma bowls available too, although you still have to store the whip somewhere.

They are $225 (w/free shipping) at vaporstore.com through Sept. 3rd. Greatvape.com also has them at $230 as a Labor Day sale (1 cent shipping), and normal, non-sale prices at these two dealers plus gotvape, vapenow (probabaly others) is $250 w/free shipping.

I just bought the SSV and lemme tell you what, this is one of the best purchases I have made in quite some time. I use this baby in the dorms all the times and with the AromaTop attachment I can be certain that no incriminating smells stay in the air. I managed to find one for 200 bucks on ebay BIN, and I am extremely happy with every single part on this bad boy.
Check it out man, theres a reason Willie Nelson and Snoop also invested in one of these bad boys.:rasta:

whip-type vaporizers like the SSV suck ... I could care less what Willie and Snoop use, the SSV is inferior to the HerbalAire and Volcano ... trust me on that one

Just out of curiosity, why do you feel the whip-types are so bad?
FWIW - I've never had the chance to try a bag-style vape like the Volcano, but I just bought a Da Buddha Vape (the SSV's cheaper little brother) and I gotta tell you that thing's amazing. I used to have a Vapor Bro's style box type. I liked it quite a bit, before I broke it. But the DBH is several times better than my old vape. It heats up fast. The hits are much more concentrated so it takes a lot less time to get where you want to be. The quality of the construction and materials is quite high. The only complaint I've heard so far is that the bowl on the whip is a bit on the smallish side (the SSV bowl is almost twice as big), but otherwise everyone I've talked to loves it.

Inferior in what way? As an owner of both the SSV and herbalAire, I can appreciate the pluses of both. The herbalAire is very efficient, but there's no satisfaction for me with direct draw-thin vapor. The SSV is generally considered the best all around hitter on the market as far as providing vapor rich hits and being very forgiving about how hard or easy you hit it.
So, sorry, can't trust you on that one.

and here I assumed I was trustworthy :D ... in all seriousness, I just hate to see ya fork over money on something, without at least trying the best (Volcano and HerbalAire) ... because you will want one, you'll see

There is ultimately no answer to the Bag style vs. Whip style debate... as long as it gets me stoned, im happy

The answer to the debate is to accept that each method has its advantages, understand what they are, and choose the one that fits you best.
I've been using both methods for more than two years, and bagged vapor is consistent, predictable, and easy to handle, hit wise.
A whip vape is inconsistent in its hits, but can provide big, smooth, lung expanding hits that are impossible to attain by hitting a bag, no matter how much vapor the bag contains.
Neither method is inherently more efficient or effective than the other, although it's easier to have efficiency with the bag. I find that most people who enjoy the vaping process and the taste of vapor end up preferring the whip, since vapor in a bag is, by design, more diluted. A lot of medical users, especially those with lung issues, prefer the bag though, since small, measured draws are much easier to attain.

Check out the Purple Days too, it is really super steal. Looks like a piece of wood.

Aight dude thanks for explaining to us how they're so much better... But anyways the difference between a whip and a bag vape is similar to the difference between an auto and manual transmission. An auto is gotta get you there and you can just kick back and relax, but a manual gives you much more control over the engine's power. With an SSV, I can get the type of hit I want to get and how i get it. I can get accessories to hook it up to my 18" glass on glass bong, and even other accessories to customize the look of your vap such as custom glass pieces. I am confident that my SSV will be with me for as long as I am smoking as long as things like the ceramic heater are replaced. Do you think the Volcano's digital temperature controls will be able to stand the test of time better compared to simple devices such as a knob??? Also $200 BIN and including shipping on ebay really seals the deal.
