Grow lights for veg, and for flowering

Would it be better to use a blue spectrum for growing and a red spectrum for flowering, ive been reading and some people say there are bad thigns about it ex. something about it not bulking up from lack of spectrum and i was thinking about making a grow light setup and the blue ones would swap out for red ones for flowering.

The red/blue lights for flowering/veg would be four hanging evenly around the plant and then probably a 300 watt incadesecent, the incadescent for the lumen output since it has 6700 lumen output and the spectrums to help.

I was thinking about making a a led almost grow box, it would be a red mainly with a little blue and then opposited for veg, and it would go around the entire plant, it would be like this almost with reflective material for the most possible light output, i would probably make it way bigger then the plant would be initially so it could be left over the plant without having to be moved due to its largeness, and it would lose light because it would still focus all its light towards the plant, and as it grows into it it would get the maximum light into the plant and it would absorb alot of the wave lengths.Heat wouldnt be an issue as it isnt hot and its very energy efficient.[attachment=o193932]

You cant see the words but the picture on the right is one of the panels that would be in this. i would get a custom order of led panel lights the would be like this

i havent read your whole post & i do apologize if this isnt the answer your looking for. Blue spectrum is specifically Best for veg. Iv been told during the veg cycle its best to have 1watt of red/orange for every 4watts of blue spectrum light. When flowering comes its time to switch to mainly orange/red-ish light as opposed to mainly blue spectrum. GL

well which would be better? i have been reading a ton of led about it not being as bright but the plant uses like 99% of if not all the light, and if you want to look at the ideas of those bulbs, i would appreciate it, also whats nice is that i can hang it over the plant and make the entire thing get just a ton of light, heat wouldnt be an issue, and it would get a maximum amount of light and it would get a great amount of the spectrums. Stinky or a real experienced grower with lights could i get some help? all my led reading has left me with mixed emotions

always have them mixed but always more blues than reds durin veg and the other way around for flower....:greenthumb:

no no im going to build 2 of those gigantic boxes to put around the plant if led is better, i am wondering if what i have * the first picture * with 4 of the red/blue spectrums for flower/veg and a big bright white spectrum light on top for penetration + other wave lengths i heard just the one light doesnt get, by which is better is this setup or the gigantic box of leds with the above stated specifics

Once i get my room setup ill take one plant after cloned and try it out... :) :jumphappy: Hey to stinky or any admins of this site, do you think this site will be here in around 4ish years? because thats when i will be moving into a welllll better suited house for growing, and i will be able to do alot more logs, thinkin about just maintaining a plant out in a cleared wooded spot and leaving the rest 4 years to study and :postreadfaq: and have all kinds of fun. So where are some places to start reading? i will definetly read all stickies in indoor outdoor basic hydroponic and study it like crazy :cursing: and also reading usefull things in peoples sigz like yours, to limited posts to come. CLF's are better and more efficient than inc. old school. They cost a little more but even out in the end. Blue for veg and Red for flowers most definitely. The blue that is similar to the daylight or that sheen on the concrete you see at about noon. Red like when the sun sets and has that orange kind of reddish glow. I don't know about spectrum analysis but check out pics of HID's in action like a Metal Halide and a HPS. Try to get as close to that spectrum as possible.

Any input on the led? when i get into my new room i will do a nice log on an led anyways, i will make 3 boxes, each just a burst of reflective white + the bulbs, and it wouldnt be a heat issue and no lumens at all would be wasted as what didnt get absorbed would be reflected and shot right into the plant, and of course i could tweak this box to run a hose through it with holes in it to get some c02 in there, another problem i see is airflow, more tweaking to make it a slotted.. with flaps that only go one way, program a fan to blow these vents open and get old air out a couple times a day? hehe it will make a hell of a product if its sucessful

the point of the incadescent is its a white spectrum, something cfls dont have here, so i would use it at the top for the penetration and stuff, and then 4 red/blue spectrum lights for the veg and flowering
