what if we started feeding our excess seeds to the birds?


If one person just randomly plants herb here and there, the DEA wipes out the plants every day.

if 50 people do it, the DEA wipes out almost all the plants every day...

if 500 people randomly plant their seeds without the intention of ever attending to the plants, the DEA can wipe out most of the plants...

Awesome idea. I'd wondered about the integrity of cannabis seeds being shat out by birds, but didn't even think of it as a way to spread the seeds to grow random plants...

I would totally do this, one day when I grow again I'll pick a male and female to be my bird seed providers and fill up the feeder full of seeds.

Kinda reminds me of people attaching a pack of seeds to a helium balloon and setting it free.

I just had this same basic Idea the other day.

I live in a town that is known for growing apples and I grew up with the story of Johnny Apple Seed, he was a character that was always walking around at my town's apple festival, and our elementary teachers loved the story.

I thought of the idea while I was driving, thought about calling it Shauny Pot Seed, (Shaun's my name) and I wanted to post suggesting everyone take their seeds that they might get from a bag o green and just cast them in near by fields or where proper conditions would lead to growth.

I told the idea to my boyfriend and he pointed me here and said read.

I had one concern... will the introduction of these new breeds of Cannabis into the many areas of the Americas act like foreign species and spread out of control? (From a Biologically conservative standpoint not the stoner stand point cause out of control would be stoner heaven :thumbsup:) It's not like we'd be spreading around ditchweed; which I assume would be the more native form of the species. Any thoughts?

An excersize in futility IMO. This idea has also been around for a very long time, since before I started smoking which was a loooooong time ago. A few problems with it however.
1) Lots of pollen in the air will make breeding or growing sincee a nightmare.2) Whats the point? More dea agents in the fields or forests? I would prefer as few of them around as possible.
I know the popular argument is that we will break the back of the government by doing this. thats not going to happen either. In case you havent noticed the government has unlimited borrowing power. This power stems from thier percieved right to tax you to death. In fact a couple weeks ago they raised the debt cieling another 800 billion. A few bilion to dea agents is nothing to these people and in the end you will pay higher taxes to pay for it. IMO not a good idea.

Great Idea but you'll have to convince a lot of people. I would be up for it though. :)

SSW A good rant and I pretty much agree with everything you said.

There are many reasons we are in the situation we are in today. Media, government and way to many people on the system.

The overall leaning in this country nowadays is to move towards socialism. From wall street to main street, the government wants to control everything.

First we need to get people off the system and understanding that they need to be responsible for themselves. The government doesnt want that though, they have more control when people are dependent upon them.

Even if you changed those people on the system you still have 90% of America that is clueless. They are evenly devided as dems and repubs. Few realize they are the same thing nowadays.

That leaves us with about 10% of us that truly want freedom back. The end result is that we would need to fight 90% of the people and the government in order to obtain that. Its not easy to come to grips with this. Its taken me a while. The sad thing is that when the 10% of us talk about freedom we are looked at as some kind of kooks.. LOL..

Anyway, in order to restore freedom your going to need to change the 90% of the population that is brain dead or brain washed by the media. As long as the media exists there will be a socialist agenda pushed.

The only thing that may wake people up is the coming implosion in the US economy. Its already started but most dont even see it. Bear sterns being bought out, Fannie and freddie being taken over by the government. Yea their profits were private but their losses belong to all of us.. LOL.. The bottom line is they had to do these things to try and hold shit together. This system is a lot more fragile than people realize and its going to take a little longer for it to fully unwind. Whn it does the government is going to print money like crazy to try and hold shit together. It wont work and is only going to lead to massive inflation. The result will be, all savings, 401k's, pensions, everything is going to be wiped out.

It all started with the housing mess. and now the credit crunch, but if you listen to the media they are saying the worst is behind us, now is the time to buy.. Dont believe it. Between now and the end of 09 we are going to see some serious corrections in housing. As this continues more and more are going to be unemployed. This will further lead to a decline in the US economy and its really just a snowball effect.

71% of the US economy is consumer spending. Again the medi acts like all is well. If that was the case the government wouldnt be sending out checks to everyone to try and stimulate the economy. Things are far worse than any media outlet or government agency will let on to.

Why do I say all this? Because this may be a blessing for us freedom lovers. It wont be until many lose everything that they realize the American dream was a dream built on ever expanding debt. Once these people start to lose everything we may see them wake up to the reality that they need to take care of themselves and government needs to leave us alone.

You hit the nail on the head. Individually there isnt much anyone can do. So IMO first and foremost we need to reeducate America on what is really going on.
First if we get rid of the fed we solve many many problems. More people are starting to understand this. Unfortunately many people still think the federal reserve is part of the federal government. (Those bankers aint so stupid huh? ) There is a good book out called the creature from jekyl island which explains how the bankers basically took over the US back in 1913. Understanding the problem and the cause of the problem is the first step to solving the problem. Once more people understand this as the source of many problems in the US we will all look at these bank bailouts in a much different light and collectively be able to force our politicians to do something about it.

Another part of the problem is the politicians have made it so incredibly complicated to get anything done here that it seems like an impossible task. Want to fight any law in place? Plan on 75-100k plus 7 years of your life at a minimum to get anything done. Heres a couple unconstitutional laws.
Seatbelt law.
Mandatory insurance in ma also unconstitutional. How do they get away with it? Who's going to fight it? If you dont have ins in Ma then you get a fine of 180.00. So you pay the fine or you can take it back to the supreme court and spend 75k and 7 years to do it. Even then theres no gaurentee the SC will even hear your case. They may just say we have already ruled on this no need to go further. Thats great except every court before them would have had to reject their decision in order for you to be there. So where do you stand then? SOL!! LOL..

So to answer your question, what can we do? For now just keep educating people. Some will listen and others will have their eyes glaze over because they have the attention span of a fruit fly an cant comprehend the big picture. Refer them to the book I listed above, refer them to the losthorizons website for tax info. Also truthattack.org for tax onfo. The gim website. Goldismoney. Lots of alternate thinking there as well but also very frustrating because most there wont do anything either. They do understand what is coming down the road though and will be better prepared than most.

I do more than most. I send letters to my congresscrittrer on a regular basis. This week i sent 2. Even sent one today. I talk to as many people as I can on the subject and a few listen, most dont want to hear it. Its like telling them the truth and all they want is to stick thier heads in the sand. LOL..

I'm also looking for a piece of land in South America. Much less resources for thm to do any enforcement and one country in particular is looking at decriminalizing. Land is cheaper. I like the climate in the places i am looking so thats a bonus too.

Why leave if I love my country? Maybe because it is the last real expression of freedom that I can excersize? Your also much more apt to find like minded people in an expat community. They understand whats happened here and are definitely awake so to speak.

with birds. I have been feeding Cannabis seeds to my bird for years and NEVER has he let one fall without destroying it and munching away on the tasty meat inside. If you have a flock of wild birds doing the same thing you may get some spilling around the plants that may sprout the next season but the eaten ones would not come out whole. The birds planting seeds works best with fruits that have small seeds thus the birds aren't interested in eating the seeds but the fruit, therefore more seeds survive the grinding process. I see Cannabis as similar to sunflower seeds which aren't very often planted by birds but may be transported by something larger like a squirrel. Interestingly the american birdseed industry was one of the few that vehemently opposed Cannabis prohibition. Along with the AMA of course ;)

I too have had the idea of being a Jenny Cannaseed and think that if we could get some donations from dealers with seedy brick and growers who would like to help we could get more than enough free seed to distribute along the highways and in the state forests etc. Anyone know any growers willing to make some seeds to donate??? If you need to convince them tell them seeded Cannabis is more potent (which it is) than sinsimellia.

Oh and breeding should only be done in a closed environment so you know exactly what you're getting... lest you end up with some genetically modified government crap Cannabis. They've already let the corn, soybeans, and rice get away....perhaps it will be their next front in the War on Cannabis, fertilize growers plots with feral ditch weed and hope they grow those crap seeds instead. Then we can sell that Cannabis back to them for their medical cannabis program. HAHAHAHA :S2:

P.S. I have to disagree that one person cannot make a difference. One person can make a tremendous difference they just have to be willing to give everything (including their life) to their cause and most stoners just don't care enough. If you doubt the power of one person then look at people like Harriet Tubman, Susan B Anthony, Rosa Parks, MLK Jr., Mahatma Ghandi etc. It was these people's INDIVIDUAL contribution that inspired others to follow and support their cause. SSW~ May I suggest leading by example to affect change, as there already is a community looking to create the change we are seeking. The society must change to accomodate the community only if the community demands it through action. It therefore is the inaction of the people that prevents the change not the society's reluctance to accept it.

I understand your frustration with those who don't agree with your viewpoint especially since it is the one backed by scientific evidence and study. I am trying to understand the type of thinking that keeps people from accepting unconventional beliefs by reading the book linked in my sig. I'm hoping if I can understand why they think the way they do then I can understand how I can at least elicit flexibility and cooperation from them instead of hostility and rigidness.

I do believe though one person really does make ALL the difference as it takes only one to motivate many to action and it is the action that will institute change. Therefore, IMHO, it is the action of one that actually initiates the change and it is the action of many that instill it and it is society's acceptance that legitimizes it. Change does not have to be legitimized for it to happen. By the time society gets around to legitimizing change the change has already taken place. Of course I could be wrong, I don't study these things for a living just as a hobby. ;)

yeah, that's what im saying... it takes one person to start the events into motion, but without a community to back it, it can never stand a chance to stick in the long run, and society will ignore it.

but i am not the people person needed to initiate change, fuck i can barely convey my thoughts to another person. im not a people person, just a guy who's fed up with waiting for change while no one is doing anything. "what can i do" is the ominous question looming over my head at all hours. and let's face it, as nothing more than a single voice on the internet, there really isnt much i CAN do. im not the people person type to go out and gather signatures for a petition, or meet random people i dont know and spread the word, so to speak. i just dont do the whole talking to people i dont know thing very well. im not exactly good at talking to people i DO know.

hell, if i brought the need for action up with a group of friends who like to toke up (hell, idont know anyone who doesnt) i would be argued against and even incite angry responses. i dont want to risk losing the public opinion on this... but at the same time, i cannot quiet my concerns. so the only placey have to speak without interrupting the goal is to rant and bitch online till a more public oriented stoner picks up the torch... :P

It's a novel idea, but it would be more likely to help the species of bird more than the species of plant. Hempseed is already a major ingredient in birdseed mixes and such, though if they're imported to the US they DO have to be sterile. The point is that the seeds are ind=credibly nutritious, not just for birds, but for people.

I want to husk a thousand seeds and make hemp-porridge, and live longer for it.


But a cool way to enact your plan would be to just rent a plane and dump 20 tons of seeds on every open field in midwestern US. The only way to destroy all the pot would be to flamethrower or napalm that stuff and then enviro-groups would crucify the drug czar. The resulting pollution from all the burnings would triple the greenhouse effect and melt the ice caps, forcing a worldwide economic revolution (and probably a few other kinds) and history would be made! All because of some people who decided to get stuff done.

yeah, me and my old buddy would dream on about dumpping thousands of pounds of cannabis seeds across the continent by plane... haha it's just a shame neither of us ever had the cash for a plane, or the seeds for that matter... lol
