Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
The package has arrived from Hemp Depot very discreatly and well protected from damage, I got 10 Blue Widow and 10 Blue Apollo seeds from Joey Weed.
The Blue Widow is obviously Blueberry (Male) x White Widow (Female F2) according to the info on the web site.
The Blue Apollo is a Cross of Blueberry (Male) x Apollo 11 (Female), Apollo 11 is a Cross of "Genius" From Brothers Grimm (Male) x C99 (Female) again according to the web site.
I am also growing out the rest of my mystery seeds from Holland a ways back hopefully they are not to old.
Just place 5 BW, 6 BA, and 5 Mystery seeds in damp paper towels and placed in individual zip lock baggies and placed them under my cable box for warmth.

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
I was going to do an outdoor grow this summer but when it came time to move them I realized that there was no way to keep someone from seeing me move them to my vehical and got cold feet, I don't need anyone to see that and start getting suspicious when there is none to begin with and I want to keep it that way. So I took some cloans for moms and basicaly put them in suspended animation untill another time.
I decided to get some more genes going and try this Joey weed brand that are highly recomended on this site and some of the cleanest true genetics out there from what I have read, and you can't beat the price at $50.00 each @ 10 beans each. Seems to be the only Breeder that wants to keep the original genes going and only crosses with the best of the best and prides himself in doing that. Plus only charging 50 bucks and being consistantly sold out of the pure strains ( WW, AK, and others ) tells me this is the real thing and he just wants to sread the genes and cover his expences while not charging $200.00 + like some other breaders.
For heat reasons I moved my grow box to the basement and put in a better exaust system with a 180 CFM in line fan and I upgraded my light hood to a aircooled hydrofarm hood. This is then exausted to the outside so all the bulb heat will be immediatly removed from the grow box and the plants will remain at around 65 to 75 degree range.
Thanks for the rep SnStelth This grow should turn out to be my best yet now that I got some really good genetics. It is going to be tough to outdo my last grow though.
I am going to set my goal high for this grow since I passed my last grows goal of 2 Lbs. So I am going to shoot for 2.5 Lbs of dried Ganja. This is probably a little premature setting this due to it is going to be difficult to do this from seed, using new genetics that I have not grown yet, and I don't know the Female/Male ratio yet. BUT ONLY TIME WILL TELL:)
Zeb Thanks for subscibing you should be pleased to hear that with this grow and I am looking to buy a Real Digital Camera (12.2 MP) that will except my print camera lenses soon. In fact I am shopping for one online right now so everone will be able to see some supurb macro shots this time around.
Well I will be giving an update in about 24 hrs on the status of the beans.

Well everything is going extreamly well.
Blue Widow, 5 out of 5 beans popped, Blue Apollo 5 out of 6 beans popped, Mystery Seeds 4 out of 5 beans popped.
All are currently in 2.5 x 2.5 starter pots and under my 175w MH.

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
No sprouts yet,
I feel I did pretty good, 14 cracked beans out of 16 the other 2 don't look like they are going to pop as the have not swollen, infact they look kind of shrivled. I am going to stay at 14 to start this grow and hope my female ratio is high with 7 or 8. I have space for 9 max, but that makes it cramped in the grow box duing flowering.
I am going to be using the Fox Farm nute program this grow again but I won't need that for around another 1.5 to 2 weeks. My soil mix for this grow is Miracle Grow Organic Choice soil (1 bag mixed with 1 bag of Miracle Grow perilite). Thats It!!
I try to keep it cheap and it works!!! I don't see the need for the Super Expensive FF soils if I can get over 2 lbs using the same mix last grow. In fact I am not going to change a thing this grow and see if I get the same results.
Well that is about it for todays update I will more than likely have srouts in the morning.

Hey man, good to have you back . I checked out the strains you chose and they are going to shine under your green thumb ;)
Pro mix all so makes a good (cheap) organic mix that you might want to check out one grow.
Peace:thumbsup:

JG, it looks like we're in for one helluva ride on this log! I can't wait to see those lil' ladies take form. It sounds like they should be super sweet! I have had the opportunity to taste Blueberry a few times, and it is a smooth bud. I have not seen/tasted any crosses of it, and the strain crosses you identified above sound super appealing.
Good luck on your grow! Be good out there!

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
All right I f*cked up!!!
I went to check my seedlings this morning and had 5 breaking the soil and I was happy. Expecting more when I got home today and there were only 5 healthy sprouts again and no sign of more. So I started to inspect the pots for any signs of growth when I noticed a seed mixed in with the loose parilite. The seeds came out of their holes duing initial watering!!
So currently I have 3 Blue Widows and 2 Mystery seedlings going. THANK GOD ALL IS NOT LOST!!!! I do have reserve:) I am about to germinate 5 more Blue Apollo, 2 Blue Widow, and I just went thru my seed box and remembered I have some BC Big Bud seeds that were gifted to me. So they sound like a great replacement for my 3 mystery seeds. Just hope they have some quality behind them I never smoked the mama so this is going to be a shot in the dark.
Well I got to get these seeds going I keep you updated.

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
I have many little ways to germinate. I use a warm place to heat the soil (and I'll cover the soil with paper towel or saran wrap to keep the moisture stabilized. Either of these would help with them seeds gettin "stranded" out of their soil. Anyway, sounds like you had a close eye on them and everyting gonna be alright.
-
Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
Well the seeds are in towels now and under my cable box, I did throw in an extra seed of BCBB just for female saftey reasons.
Looking back on it what happened was my last germination I felt I put the seeds in to deep and it took forever for the sprouts to emerge. So this time around I made the hole shallower and didn't pack the covering dirt down for fear of harming the seed and assuming during the addition of water the dirt would flow down the hole with the water and cover the seed.
OBVIOUSELY this does not happen. The seed floats out of the hole.
Well chalk this up to lesson learned,

I never thought of the seran wrap, I think I will implament that idea now!! or at least until they break the soil. I am puting a fan on them as soon as they emerg to get the stem stength up and keep them as short & compact as possiable.

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
outdoors we often use black poly to warm up the soil, especially squash, pumpkin hills, eggplant and pepper plant beds. ya know?
It also keeps the soil moisture more even. Can be a habitat for some bad shtt, I guess. But I've not had that prob. Sometimes hay mulch is great for keepin your shoes clean and the soil stays beautiful. But slugs, snails and crawly creatures can suck. Then you remove the mulch and the pests go byby.
So, indoors we can control the soil a bit.
Thanks.
Shov
We germinate some of those seeds under that black polly and keep a very close eye on it. This is early Sring in a Ccccccold climate, I don't think it would work averywhere.

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
Well I am a real bind now!!!!
I painiced to early, this morning I checked my little babies and I now have 10 healthy sprouts. My problem is I also have 11 more seeds germinating.
Well I know I am going to toss the BCBB. I have 5 more seeds left of them, and it is an unknown source. I am going to have to grow out the other 5 BA's and 2 BWso that will bring my total to 17 plants under current conditions. I may be alright if my ratio is 50/50 or less. But going by my past experiance and luck, I will end up with 12 females. If so I will have to put a coulple outside some how.
I will have another update soon on the other germinating seeds.

Healthy looking seedlings....these are some really nice strains Jerry, i hope you get many girls....
Could you give some short info on what lights, nutes you gonna use this time??
Edit.: Don't mind the nutes....

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
Zeb, here is a list of the things I have running.
Lighting is currently a 175 watt MH about 6'' above the pots, I have a 12'' desk fan blowing on them constant with a fairly good breeze hitting them. The fan is also keeping the sprouts cool from the light.
I will switch to my 400watt mh at the start of veg the stage for a coulple weeks then go to my 600 watt MH. I am trying to save energy with the a/c running alot this time of year.
Oh yah light schedule is 24/0.

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
JG, I wish I was in the same bind as you! HA! I know you will hate for the waste, but hopefully you'll be able to find a good outside location, which will present a nice lil' experiment to watch the progress of the same genetics inside v. outside! I am still very curious to watch the development of these strains - I am a sucker when it comes to different colors; I remember being in high school and hearing about some "Purple Indica," which at the time I didn't understand what the purple and indica indicated - I only knew it meant it was some fire bud. But, ever since, I have been amazed and distracted by "all the pretty colors."
Well, I'll stop the rambling. I wish you much luck on this grow - I'm subscribing, as I want to see these beauties from start to finish. Be good out there, my friend!

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
Well is has been 12 days since I started and going well:)
I currently have 16 seedlings that have broken ground. 14 are very healthy, 2 are weak looking but coming along.
No nutes yet but have changed light today to my 400w MH and are responding very well.
Here are some random pic's, I had to support the stem's due to strech. That is why I switched to the 400.
-
Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
JG, it looks like you are going to have a few amazons on your hands! It looks like it won't be such a bad thing having so many seedlings, as you will really be able to cull the runts, winding up with the best of the best.
I was glad to stop in and see some pictures. Even though seedling pictures are not the sexiest, it's always nice to watch development from the beginning.

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
Well it has been about a week or more since I updated. Everything is going well, I have 18 healthy plants going :). There are about 12 plants ready to be transplanted to 2 gallon buckets and start the LST on them. I plan on transplanting tonight plus start the first round of nutes.
I will post pics and description tonight of how I do this and a detailed description of each step.

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
simillarly to putszer (sp) i recently started an grow, funny thing is, i started the SAME day as you.
fortunately, its also outdoor grow time and im using seeds from my last indoor grow (dont ask )
im curious to see how the grows turn out side by side considering your using a 400mh (veg. then switch to hps.. i assume....) and im harnessing the pure power of the sun. of course i will use the same nutes i use for indoor grows, and the same type of soil/compost/peat mixture.
if you dont mind, when you post pics of your progress, id like to post some of mine here also....for reference, and too see some nice side by sides of bagseed vs. quality, sun vs. light, etc.....

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
To make this easier I am going to post pics in one post then describe in the next post. It has been awhile so there are going to be multiple posts.
-
Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
I know I am very late on this update but I have documented everything so I am just going to bundle it together in multiple posts
I am going to start with the current conditions in the grow box. On July 18th. I took out the 400watt Mh and swithced to my 600 watt Mh.
Also for future referance I am going to use July 8th as the date for the first day of Veg. So germination and seedling stage took 16 days.
1st & 2nd pic are at the end of week one of veg and are ready to be transplanted. They do show some signs of heat stress from getting to close to the light but they are only the first set of leaves and will be trimed off in the next couple of weeks anyhow.
3rd pic is of the 36 gallon Rubbermaid tub I use to mix and store my new soil in.
4th pic is of the MG moister control and perilite I am using this grow. The Actuale mix is one 1 - 64 Qt. bag of MG Moister Control and 1 - 8 Qt. bag of perilite. Mix well thats it! Again keep it simple and cheap.
5th pic is showing me mixing it in small parts this prevents leaving pockets of unmixed soil.
More to Come:)

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
1st pic is of a 2 gallon bucket that I have filled with soil mix and compacted firmly. You will notice there in the center is an unused germination pot. After compacting the soil I remove this and you can see the perfect hole it leaves for the plant as seen in the 2nd pic.
3rd pic is after the seedling has been transplanted a small amount of new soil covers the old and lightly packed down.
4th pic is of the Current Nutes I am using [ FF Big Bloom, FF Grow Big and Pros Choice PH Down ]. The First Feeding of any nutes happened the day I transplanted. It consisted of 1 Tbls./ 15ml of Big Bloom and 1 tsp/5ml PH Down per gallon . I then added 1/2 gallon of nute mix to each 2 gal bucket and let excess drain out the bottom.
Next was a full week later and it consisted of 1 Tbs. Big Bloom, 1tsp. Grow Big and 1tsp. Ph Down, again 1/2 gallon of nute mix each bucket.
Next watering was just plane water again a full week later and at a 1/2 gallon each (current to today)
5th pic is of a plant taken today end of week 3 of veg. And was just LST'ed for the 3rd time. I started LST on week 2 and every week after that. I also trimmed any fan leaf that covered the center of the LSTed plant.
More to come.

Well here is what they look like today. I just watered with plane water and performed LST on them. That is why they look droopy. All are extreamly healthy and growing like crazy now most, already have stalks 3/8'' thick and the new lower branches are really starting to take over as the main plant in the pics.

Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
hey jerry. they're looking nice and healthy. have you used the fox farm nutes in previous grows? If so how did they work for your plants? I may order some online but I'm looking for more opinions before I take the leap and spend the money.
in the meantime, good luck with the grow

All of those ladies look mighty fine, JG! And, thanks for going over your nute schedule in pretty good detail. I need to really begin developing an organized nute plan, and this will be a good thread to which to refer. Everyone really seems to be pleased with the FF nutes, so there must really be something to them.
Thanks for the update, so I can ogle all of those fine blue speci(wo)mens!

Puffzter,
Thanks for stopping by and giving your support. Feel free to ask any questions when you need for your grow. I am doing this log more as an instructional log:) I do this only so that I can spred my knowledge and experiance to you all. I do this by keeping it as simple as possiable while still getting the maximum out of every plant and so I will give the most exact dates and amounts of every step of the grow.
JakezKing,
As usuall your support is greatly appriciated:) Yes I do swear by FF nutes and I expect everone will by the end of this log. These babies are the strongest looking plants I have seen at this stage of growth. The stalks are already 3/8'' thick " that is almost the size of my pinkie finger" at the end of week 3.
Chinacat443,
Thanks for stopping by and asking before you posted any pics.
I think you have a great idea but like I stated to Pufftzer. I am doing this as an instuctional grow log and don't really want to turn it into a comparison log.
But I do have a good sugestion for you:) You can download any pics that I post then attach to a post in your log. Then just credit and quote me in your log.
MrGoodmorning,
Yes my last grow I used FF nutes the entire grow and got a mind blowing yeild from them. So I fully expect it to happen again this grow. I do highly recomend you buy the entire family of nutes and follow the feeding chart that comes with granuler forms. Just some advice I get mine from the local hydro store and pay cash if you order online use a prepaid credit card for saftey. I wish you better luck on this grow and if I can help feel free to ask.

Hey JG,
Looks like you got some happy and healthy plants there. I remember reading through one of your other logs a while back and seeing the great results you got. So i'll be following this one along to try and pic up some tips if you don't mind.
What light have you got lined up for flowering btw? Apologies if you've mentioned it already i didn't see anything.
What's with the ph down when you feed? Is your water high or is it a preference to knock it down a couple of points or something to do with the ph of the soil?
-
Jerry Garcia's Blue Widow, Blue Apollo, and Mystery Seed From Start to Finish
Hudson,
Thanks for stopping by,
When I go to 13/11 I will switch out the bulb to a 600 watt HPS. I am currently using a 600 Watt MH conversion bulb.
The resons I use PH down is 2 fold. First, is yes my tap water ph is a 7 and I want to knock it down to a 6.
Second, is I am using MG Moisture Control soil and the ph has a tendancy to rise over time and this helps keep it in range, Since I have been using it I never get any yellow tips or edges on the leaves just that nice deep forest green the entire grow.
