Has anyone NEVER gotten high off edible pot treats?

I have a really annoying problem, I have NEVER got high off ingesting THC (or whatever it is after its called when you eat it, for the people waiting to correct me). I have tried brownies numerous times. I've tried rice crispies, weed capsuls (too many times), and other treats too. I have made many capsuls, cannibutter ect. myself and had other people's too.

More times then none I'm the only one that never even gets even a buzz. The "best" result I get is that I get really tired. I've heard that has to do with either cook time or the quality of pot.
I've used the dankest pot I've ever seen/smoked on the weed capsuls and nothing. I've tried eating a whole 1/8th worth of 'em and never got high. I think one time I might have got a slight buzz but I couldn't tell between the hangover and all the other smoking I did.

I've had other people's batches of brownies where everyone else has got rediculously high...the result, tired/nothing. I had one of my friends (the biggest pot head I know) put me in touch with the guy he said made the best he's ever had. I gave him 5 onces of the dankest shit I've ever had and still nothing. I ate three and waited hours after everyone else said they hit them and I never felt anything. I've tried starving my self until eating the goodies. I've tried not eating after eating them. Then waiting 30min and eating. Then an hour. I've read every post I think on this site about edible treats and never found anything that has worked

Its really starting to piss me off. I've wasted more money and weed then is even reasonable. Has anyone had any problem like this, and found a solution. I should have bought a vapo by now:mad:. I don't know what to do. I was hoping some expert on here could help me.

I'm wondering if i'm the only person with this problem, any input is greatlt accepted.

My sympathies. I like tincture (Green Dragon). Given your history I'd try somebody else's GD first rather than make some of your own. Of course if you made some & it didn't work on you but it did work on others, I'm sure you could find someone to take it off your hands.

Thanks I tried looking fro threads but didn't find any. I really only stick to this site. I'll check them out tonight. Also, I typically take adderall on a regular basis, which I have found reduce the effects of pot. I can't remember if I took it the days I've tried any canni-anythings but I feel like thats something to look into. Since, I've switched to vyvance which I haven't tried eating anything on yet.

Only once I made some brownies and they didnt do anything.But it must've been an error on my part cause I read the recipe section and got a brownie recipe and followed it,Turned out AWESOME!

Brownies, some gal made them at a party! Too much!

Hm... its something to think about... the effects of eaten weed are subtler than smoked weed... it starts far slowly, and increases very slowly too... so maybe the adderall doesnt allow your body to feel the high coming... and as the high is a thing that is continuous (you cant get very high without being little high before), its possible that the adderall blocks the start of the high, and doesnt let it increase to noticeable levels.
Also, you said you only felt tired... it usually happens when the edibles are made with indica strains... the edibles made with sativa strains also makes you tired, but also gives a nice head high... so maybe you should try to make some edible with the purest sativa you get, and see if it makes any difference on what you feel.
If you were to try it again, i would suggest to make some green dragon. For me its the most effective (with less chances of dont work) way to get high.

Is is possible that you could be eating something which interferes with the absorption? I seem to recall people saying that eating foods with high sugar and vitamin c contents reduce thc absorption in the stomach, but I don't really know. I always eat some capsules of cayenne, turmeric, and ginger before I have edibles to increase stomach blood flow and bile production, and get good results. Try that, it really does work (for me at least).

i make some amazingly strong foods from time to time put everyone that has tried them on their ass....except one friend. for some reason everyone in the room will be drooling on themselves and my one friend cant get high on ingestion. youre not alone! but that really sucks.... I dont think i could even handle getting on a plane without something to eat!

Hrm this is an interesting post and makes me feel a bit better. I've made 2 batches of brownies, 1 of which turned out pristine (excepting PERHAPS a heat issue i.e. overheating the butter+water+herb mixture), the other one was a bit messed up due to excessive oil used to grease pan (now use butter). In neither case did I feel anything excepting minutes after ingestion, which I attributed to placebo. On both occasions the butter and brownies smelled and tasted strongly as they should have and pretty much all indicators were there except for the primary effects. No one around that's down so I couldn't offer the brownies to others to isolate myself out of the equation.

Noteworthy item: I too have been an avid user of adderall, probably in 3 sessions, the last being the most intense but still falling within prolly 1-2k mg over about 6 months at the most. I haven't used adderall in over a year so I'd hope that has nothing to do with things but you never know.

I'm going to make a final batch of brownies with a crock pot to ensure that I'm not overheating and thus destroying the THC molecules. Afterwards (if they don't work for me again) I'll give them to a few friends and see what they think.

During the cooking process I did anywhere between 6-8 hours on the first attempt and 5 hours or so for the second round of butter made recently (went into the perfect brownies). I did see visible steam pretty much throughout the cooking process but the lid was covered and there was NO water movement except after about 45 minutes or so while I was stirring every hour. I cooked the brownies each time at 375 as directed on the box. The last occasion was a recipe I got offline (absolutely delicious brownies btw) that call for something like 2 1/2 cups sugar. Someone mentioned excess sugar interfering but I can't think that's right, if so how would brownies be an option? Other than that no special factors worth mentioning. All that sound right to you guys?

I've had very similar experiences with edibles. The first time I EVER tried eating something, I bought it off a kid who had just eaten one and his eyes were red and tearing he was so stoned. But I ate it with 2 friends, and didn't feel annnyything.

Similar experience after buying an edible muffin. Nothin.

Made Macaroni & Cheese w/ potbutter, an 8th, THAT experience had me passing out on a city sidewalk, but purely out of dehydration.

Made Ramen Noodles w/ pot butter (i forget how exactly) and that was an okay time, nothing special, even though i had an 8th to myself.

Made brownies with friends, used an 8th for the four of us, and felt the same height of high as if I'd consumed a whole 8th myself.

Had pot brownie @ party once, and it pretty much just set the baseline high, like we smoked and drank beyond that (as usual).

It just sucks because, it's not like I'm immune to it, I just can't seem to surpass a certain threshold. And at the beginning of all my edible journeys, I'm always reading up on how people ingested too much and tripped balls, and THAT has always been a goal of mine, to somehow "trip" off eating it...

It makes me a little nervous to ever try to make Green Dragon, for fear that it'd just be a huge waste. Though I probably will end up making it someday, anyway.

I also take prescribed ritalin to treat my ADHD. I am in college so I need my medicine to help me stay focused and I have noticed that taking my Ritalin greatly reduces the high I feel after smoking pot. In fact I can't get high if I have taken my Ritalin instead I am just really stoned. Being stoned and being high are two different things to me. Regardless my suggestion is that in order to get high from weed u need to not take ur ADD medication for the day or wait until after your medicine has worn off in the evening or after dinner...then toke

I've only ingested like twice.

Besides when I thought it was cool to chew on stems, which just sound stupid now.

But the first time I was with a bunch of people who made weed salsa. Idk what that was about, but I didn't feel SHIT. not that I really cared b.c it wasn't like it was my weed in the salsa. I just got free chips and dip. :D

The second time was at a good friend's house and me and him made a batch of brownies. We had like a 12 small ones, so he ate a little more than a half dozen and I ate the rest. After about 30 min. we both got this real doped out look on our face, and starting having really weird sensations, almost like when you get spiderwebs when you're tripping. Then the tiredness hit us, and we both slept for about 7 hours on the floor. haha.

It was alright, but I think that weed would have been better spent smoking then for our strange little nap time.

I have heard too many stories of people who can't get high from edibles not to believe that there are people who just don't.

I made firecrackers for a concert recently and followed the directions perfectly AND used fantastic weed AND ate 4 of them at once and felt:

i've made firecrackers with the best weed i've ever smoked and was absolutely gone and then i made them with some low mids and barely felt anything. so if you're gonna make edibles, use the danky stanky.

First time I had brownies we messed up with the oil. We put the weed in wehn it was way too hot. We used a quarter of this shit called Fruity Pebbles (fucking amazing to smoke) anyway we used a coffee grinder and to get a somewhat powdery form and we ended up stinking the entire house up cause he added it when it was way to hot. Everything else went smoothly i had like 2 of them cause they were oh so tasty. Didn't feel anything so I decided to drive home. As i was pulling into my neighborhood a sudden rush came over me and i was high as hell. I got home and supposedly talked to my mom for aout an hour then went to my den and passed out while watching a movie.

I got 15 hours or so of sleep and was still a bit high when i woke up. Edibles are the best. I'm sorry that your not able to enjoy them, I would try what oliver said as it may certainly be having an affect of you getting all the THC.

man, every time i've made brownies, I've gotten really really high... I've only made them twice, but each time I used a half, ground it all up, threw it in a pan with some oil, sauteed the weed in the oil, then strained the oil through a cheese cloth. After that, I just followed the directions on the back of the brownie mix. Both times they came out perfect. I think the one thing that some people dont take into account is that when you ingest it, it takes much longer for the THC to enter your blood stream. I mean when you smoke it, you feel the effects almost immediately right? well, when you eat it, it takes at least an hour to even two hours to feel the effects.

u r missing some real high times ;) make brownies with even an OZ of some brick bud (i poured the whole thing in there, it tastes like weed, not too good on some people's taste buds) but i got blown off earth every single time. The secret: Eat some bread or carb only material about 1 hour b4 brownies, choose the lowest sugar content brwnies, AND JUMP START your high within 15 mins of eating brownies with a joint or a few hits in any other form... u r guaranteed to get blown!

i dont exactly know what kind of food may have negative effect on thc absorption, but im sure some foods do. i will remember to try this next time i have edibles.

sounts like doggie treats! lol! Actually, I had a cupcake from a Co-op recently. I do not recall being in an altered state: Except, it altered my pain and I do not recall hurting much. Since, that is my desire, it was as high as I could be. Minor pain=FUN!!! Now, I am thinking of driving 100 miles to Co-op to get some! forgot to ask if they used Splenda!

I have had brownies with the opposite effect.

I am thinking though. There are medications, as stated that block absorption! Like, anti-acid medication and things of that nature. Pretty much, all has been said!

I just keep thinking, that cupcake helped my pain more than anything else. Now, I wonder, what strain it had! Kept the label! :thumbsup:

I really feel for those that can't go to a place and buy that stuff legally. And even if you can, the cost. Mine was free and I don't know the cost. The guy gives them out at meetings (advertisement) and very good one! PR :jointsmile:

I am not sure if I could pay what it costs to get mmj and stick it in a receipe! Once I have a successful grow, I will bake a lot, since I love to bake.

In fact, I've heard the bags from volcano or other inflatable mmj vapes are cool to use for a chicken or roasting bag. Once the bag is pretty well used, put a chicken or roast in it with potatoes/carrots/onions and spices, then back like a roast. Afterward, cool and eat--then you bake! I've only heard one person that has done it, but sounds pretty neat! PR :hippy:

If I could be assured I would not get high and edibles would take care of the pain, that is all I would do. I just have so much I want to do and the pain inhibits it. High is not necessarilly the goal here, is it? PR :rastasmoke:

Expecially if your like me and you try to stay away from sweets, because those mutha fuckers are like Pringles. Once you pop you just can't stop ha ha ha and those were STRONG too. I ate 2 and 1/2, I wanted to keep going lets just say two hours later i was very thankful i had enough will power to stop. :D Those were some weight watchers cookies, eat too much and youll learn your lesson FOR SURE!!! :stoned:

I don't mean to be too intrusive so only answer if you're comfortable talking about it but the biggest factor in common amongst those not getting "there" ... is likely why I'm not getting there either when ingesting.

adderall. for adhd? add? ... I'm pretty sure that's all they give it out for but perhaps also for weight or sleep issues.

anyway I'm currently taking 25mg meth amphetamine a day (yep, its called desoxyn and its legal and let me tell you the gov version of drugs .. despite what you hear as I have heard how really good their cocaine was ..... well I never tried their coke but if anything like my pharm meth ... its not even close to being as strong as same amount of the stuff of the street).

I usually just ingest it much like they've talked about here when emptying cold pills and using them for the cannabis .. I would do that with street meth ... when I'd run out of script or back in my early days .. before I got the legal okay-doke.

so its not about the my sniffing or smoking the street stuff. (will sniff, never smoked it). And in fact I take what are surely larger doses of the pharm meth than the stuff off the streets ... when I am forced to mix the two. (not that i over do it and run out but rather it is very hard to find pharmacies that will fill the order. Much like with pot .. if its a drug that's big rec ... they auto-label it as the anti-christ and those with legit needs for it can just do without unless you're lucky enough to find a place that's forward thinking.

and I have now tried 2 separate batches and followed closely the instructions with exception of I didn't dry the weed out in the oven and am going to try that now.

I do feel a little bit with both batches that I made and admit I haven't pushed things. I trust flame knows and if he's saying start out careful ... I did.

easy to put more gas on a fire but impossible to take it back off ... and I'm in this to have fun not lay on my ass too weak knee'd to get up ... wishing I'd either die or sober up.

if it sounds like coming from experience ... yes. Only it was honestly one single toke that freaked me out ... after being on probation about 6 months ... and I was taking strattera at the time. (for adhd) .

Pot and strattera do not mix. After having such a bad reaction I researched and found out others had bad times too ... on strat and smoking pot.


but oddly enough this does all play into one merging lane ... or so it would seem.

a lot things seem to influence the "high" that we probably know little about. Why some people can sit in between two people smoking a joint ... and never take a hit and be stoned-er than the two inhaling ... when its over ...who knows?

I DO know you get higher in the mountains than the plains. .. and higher in the plains than if you're at sea level.

once bought a bag in Chorpis Christi that was total bunk (we thought) ... but by time we got to Kanas City ... it was getting us stoned quite convincingly.

I wish I had a way to bring all that together but I did want to offer some knowledge of other odd instances .. maybe somebody here will figure it out.

I'm not ready to give up yet on making the pot pills work for me. I would like to experience what i am reading about the high.

idk whats goin wrong,but thc is heat activated just so ya know....try a firecracker. 375 degrees for 15 minutes exactly and then take out. Use gramcracker and chocolate or whatever floats you for the substrate. Spread a quarter inch on each piece,take a gram of your good gear and put in the middle and sandwich it...take out and let cool or just eat warm,and your good to go,good luck.:thumbsup:
