everything is in the genetics
color of leaf and or buds
color of pistils as you said
how the pistil swells
plant structure, height,
weight of buds
ect ect ect
its up to the breeder in what traits they want to breed for, their might be a special odd looking trait you are looking for
if you really want to learn more about the genetics and other things check out the breeders bible by greg green, hands down the best cannabis book ive seen
Our code of life, or DNA, is not that far off from that of a tree:jointsmile:
ahhh, that would explain the 'woodies' :S2:Quote:

Is purple a recessive trait over green? (color changing)
That depends on what you are looking for. Purple is great for bag appeal so I would say that some breeders look for purple plants. Some breeders look for pink pistils. As far as being dom/res, that would be in the breeder's eye. Unless of course you are working a a strain and have found that the weaker plants possess a trait that is going to tell you which plant is the strongest or weakest early on. That trait would be unique to the strain especially when discusssing hybrids. When selecting cantidates for breeding programs growers look for healthy characteristics or traits that will be benifical to the enviroment in which the plant will grow. An example would be AK that has two phenos, one tall and one short. A grower may be looking for the plant to have the smell, high, or flavor but need to get a plant that won't grow too tall. Someone else working the same strain might want the sativa influence to be prominant and looks for the taller plants to capture the sat characteristics. Hope you follow, this got long winded, google breeding.

yea so I wanted to start a thread that would list specific traits and whether they are dominant or recessive. Thanks for your knowledge!Quote:

I've heard this crap (stuff) for decades. But back then we didn't really know much about early harvests, over-ripeening harvests, quick-curing, fully cured, not cured, proper nutes and additives, region grown in, outdoors, indoors, rainy regions, dry regions......all of which affect an already subjective end-result.
