hey guys, I've been trying to find a filing sharing network (You know, like kazaa, that sort of thing), but everything seems to be pay only :(. I've lost all faith in Kazaa because it has nothing on it anymore, my e-mule has everything on "waiting" for 3 days, it just NEVER actually downloads it, and sharazaa has spyware on it. any suggestions? thanks everyone. :)
try kazaa lite resurrection.. No adware/spyware, and there's still plenty of users.

:D Well I use limewire...its free and i never had any probs with it :D
I tried limewire, but I found things weren't downloading at a very decent rate :(.

i've used limewire without any problems, and just started using soulseek-- seems to be alright so far...
Limewire has spyware, kazaa has fucked up songs. I've also used iMesh and WinMX, the best BY FAR has been Ares.
Bearshare has everything.

the way I understand it, Kazaa had adware, so some people make a stripped downm version called Kazaa-lite, but they got in legal trouble or something so it got shut down, so some people made kazaa lite resurrection, which is the same thing, i believe. I stopped using it because all the songs i ever dl were fucked up. I now use Bearshare Lite, which rules absolute ass.Quote:

If you downloaded Shareaza and it was bundled with spyware than you got it from the wrong place.
It is entirely open source, there were some websites that were trying to sell the software even though it is free.

bearshare kicks ass i regurly have my downloads totaling a third of my network bandwidth, consedering im supposed to be sharing it with 4 other ppl u can see why i love it
limewire does not have any spyware at least any i can find. it was on the radio in england about them saying all the others did have and limewire was one of the only 1's without
no no no no your all wrong. Got to warez.com and dl there p2p client, it has really fast downloads and i havent had one faff file or virus yet. Its good for movies too :o
for good download times and plenty of stuff to download id go warez.com, however it has spyware and has completly fucked my computer up, winmx although a bit crap lookin in comparison has always done me proud,id go WINMX!

no u gotta use bit torrent....its the best i get 99% of my stuff from there they do comics and tv shows and everything you ever ask for aswell...you need to get a client thing to be able to d/l stuff tho. but there is no spyware and its free.all free. check it out www.bi-torrent.com for available stuff to get...if you like what u see go to http://bittorrent.com/ to get the prog u need to d/l...all freeQuote:

there is nothing you can get the is totaly free. All the P2P programs have a bit of spyware in them. Myself use limewire as seems to have the least. A few things you should do though to protect yourself.
a) Never allow full access to you computer hard drive with the P2P program.
b) created a folder that you down load to. Use it for only this purpose.
c) Once the file is down load it before you open it scan it with a virus scanner.
If a person has a virus on there computer it will also transmit the virus in the down load. If you find a virus in it. Deleate the file.
d) once file scanned can move it to another folder before opening it.
two major couses of virus infections is through P2P downloading and e-mails
Use Soulseek. It's the best way to find underground music if you're into it and it doesn't have anything that will ruin your computer.

WinMx 3.53 is the best PTP file sharing network ive ever used .
I know have two external hard drives full of movies and Music and software ( thats over 200 gigabytes worth and it all came from there .
An additional bonus - with this software you do not receive spyware ... It is obviously your responcibility to check what your downloading for viruses and such , but as far as the software goes - your clean to go ...

bittorrent is the roxors. its like kazaa, except it prevents people from being asshats aboot sharing...fake files will die out because nobody will seed them, and good files get seeded so well that everybody d/ling it gets huge speeds (I can get around 100K up and down, with 3 torrents at a time on my home DSL connection)
and you should think aboot joining a tracker site, where you have a username/password and a U/D ratio. it keeps track of everybody's data transfer in gigs, so you know if somebody isn't sharing (and leeches will eventually get banned) one I like is www.demonoid.com
just read your homework first, its a slightly different way of downloading than kazaa (or similar p2p apps) http://bittorrent.com/FAQ.html is the place to start
and I recommend the BitTornado client, it is simple and also powerful...http://bittornado.com/
you will need the client to download the torrents successfully
