believe or not B&Q's multi purpose compost came top in the what compost trials this year(i use organic myself but its much dearer than bq).sunmaster hps for flowering(the sylvania ones are ok too)and last but not least i'm using j arthur bowers organic nutrients, get good results(not outstanding just good).are you looking for organic, hydro or just compost grow?.if your not fussed miracle grow nutrients are ok as well i used them before going organic(check the pack though they regularly change the composition of their multi purpose fertilizer).good luck!
oh i.if you want a very effective pesticide use neem oil(if you live in a city go to an indian shop(the curry mile in manchester for instance)they sell it dirt cheap(£2.50 a bottle)if you get it from a hydro shop you pay like a tenner!!)mix it with water a bit of soap and apply every couple of weeks gets the little buggers before they even start!!
Hi canabaloid100.
In my opinion you need to make the decision which way and where you want to grow first.
If indoors how big is your grow room going to be how many lights will you need for the amount of plants you are going to grow and so on and so forth
I'm not in the UK but one of my favorite nutrient lines EVER is the Canna, and looking at their website, it appears to be heavily marketed in England.
Yes Canna is good i used it with NFT good results 3 times.:)
yeah i think ill use canna.. or bcuzz.. im lookin at various brands etc budbox growtents look kinda neat! greenthing whats NFT stand for? soz im new to this and im pickin it all up still!

If you get it right you can expect High yield's,
The sytem is exspensive i would not advise it for a beginner.;)
ah cool nice 1! yer i was lookin at setting up a system like that.. but yr right it doesnt look n00b friendly! plus it doesnt look like the more affordable part of a setup from the various things like lights etc... but cheers for that!
No probs man, got to go to sleep now.
Yeah, the pre-fab ones I have seen are very pricey but if you look in the grow logs, I have 2 logs with the word 'darkside' in the title that should be easy to find, and detail the construction and use of a VERY cheap and user friendly NFT system. It's a little unconventional but works like a charm. There are no timers or airstones, just ONE pump... fill it up and walk away, lol!Quote:

By the way I still have all my NFT kit that i got from a hydro store its gathering cobwebs at the moment i may use it agian sometime but i am in 50/50 composts and pearlite at the moment.
Thank you for pointing me in the direction of your post the darkside.
Oh shoot I hate to threadjack but how are you liking the 50% compost + perlite mix? Is it hand-watered or drippy? I have never run my perlite content that high- only up to 40% and then, only in the dead of winter when it's quite cold, to prevent sodden soil. As a matter of fact, one of the reasons for the NFT adventure was trying to find a system that would actually stay at a good temp without a res heater/chiller, as long as the air temp was correct- and NFT seems to work.
Hi stinkyattic,
I am hand watering at the moment its my first time in a perlite and compost so i can't say how its going turn out but they are looking ok at the moment, they are clones of a mother called Rock don't know if you know that strian, and they are 4 weeks into flower.
I am not expecting anywhere near the yield that i had off NFT as i realy done very well indeed with the NFT, but alas i am not in the position to it at the moment maybe some time in the future.
'Soma A+' aka 'Rock Bud'? That's one on my to-do list actually. I like the pigmentation and feel that it would be a stealthy outdoor plant in my area, where the sumac bushes turn identical colors in fall. Thanks for the info!
No probs stinkyattic,
It been a pleasure to talk to you so to speak.
