When i smoke i usually hold the smoke in and casper it but i was thinkin How long can u hold in a hit until the smoke is bad??
or does it all just get u more stoned??
cuz i think u can only absorb so much THC in your lungs

like 95% of thc is absorbed within about 3-5 seconds i think
There is no need to hold in the smoke! All that does is hold in all the dirt from the smoke. The reason you feel more stoned is from lack of oxygen!
Just hold ya breath between tokes....it's healthier! And you'll get the same buzz.

I'll go ahead and say the longer you hold in a hit, the more THC you get in your lungs. Here's my logic:
1) the THC is in the smoke
2) less smoke comes out when you hold your breath longer.
Seems like a no-brainer to me. I see no good reason to believe anyone who says that smoke that disappears inside of you when you hold your hit somehow did not contain THC.
Also, if you hold in a breath of air you can go for a good two to three minutes or even longer without passing out... because your lungs constantly absorb the oxygen in the held breath. If you blow out all your breath and hold it you'll pass out in like 30 to 45 seconds. So I'd say that proves that your lungs constantly absorb what is in them if you hold your breath.
However, the only way to truly answer your question would be to find a lab with a fancy gas spectormeter (or whatever device can measure THC in smoke).
Either way, I would not recommend holding hits in even if you do get higher faster. Sure, you might get more THC... but damn... you sure are putting a lot of cancerous tar and poison in your lungs at the same time.
Get a vaporizer and hold the hits in from that, if you want to truly maximize your THC inhalation without sacrificing your health, especially if you are a frequent smoker. I feel like I get twice as stoned if I hold my vape hits in. And it isn't just being dizzy from holding my breath like someone said above either... I actually get more baked and stay more baked if I hold in my vape hits.
A properly set, quality vaporizer will yield a THC vapor content of 95% and no toxins (thin white vapor). Obviously, this makes it literally harmless for holding your breath on. Any other device of direct flame gives you a far smaller concentration of THC (a Bic lighter seems to generate temperatures of around double the point at which the plant starts to burn, thus destroying much THC on contact) and a far higher carcinogen concentration. It's probably not a good idea to hold in bong/pipe/joint hits for longer than ~3-5 seconds. Somewhere at NORML there is a paper about, among other things, the actual concentrations as measured by their instruments that demonstrated bongs to be less effective than pipes/joints (in the sense that bongs had a higher carcinogen count per THC count [more tar less THC] than pipes/joints). Also, remember that cannabis per weight has roughly twice as many carcinogens as tobacco, and carcinogens do adversely effect the respiratory system.Quote:

If you take in a breath of fresh air, does it help if you hold it in longer? No, of course not, so I don't see how it makes sense you need to breath in cannabis smoke any differently than you would a breath of fresh air. You guys are just giving yourself head rushes, lol
