Ive just started smoking and had my first full joint to myself the other day but for me the end was ruined. As I got into the last third of the joint it was as though each time I took a pull my throat was burning, like it was bitter and harsh on my throat. Does this happen to everyone? How do I stop this as I come to the end of the joint?
as your coming to the end of the joint the smoke is going to get hotter and thicker and may irritate your throat, i have the same problem.
Is a glass of chocolate milk! It coats the throat nicely and tastes good. Just puff and sip!:thumbsup:
May I suggest getting a vaporizer? They take all the "sting" out of toking! And they are FAR Easier on the lungs! I toked for 40 years and my lungs were a mess. Pot is harsh on the lungs! No two ways about it! It took just 2 weeks to clear my lungs up. No more morning cough!

Its totally normal. But listen to Storm Crow's suggestion about drinking milk or other types of soft drink.
smaller hits, especially if its all yours. but if you dont like that last bit, as i dont ever so often, and you have a bowl handy, just pack it into the bowl and smoke away. But get used to it, it will happen often.

I think that they pain in the throat doesn't get any more intense at a certain point, it just stays there, but thats just me.
Vaporizer should be your ultimate goal, if $ is tight get a bong with an ice catcher too cool the smoke....:stoned:
A joint is alot to smoke to yourself, at least at once. They really are more communal. I recommend you get a small piece. Take a small toke, put out the cherry, chill a bit, have a sip of water. You'll conserve much more weed too.
You should always have some thing to drink when your tokin, some thing cold as it helps on the throat..
Well I always have a cold drink so when and if it starts tasting harsh Ill have a drink and the next toke wont be as bad..:stoned:

actually I go a real good ttip for you. Usually when the roach gets real tiny and I fear burning my lips. I pucker my lips and put them very close to the roach, then you suck real hard and chase the dragon, works quite well

it looks like it wouldnt work because the pads of your fingers are completely touching, but it does... and those few extra cms make the hits a ton less harsh. i smoke joints right into the filter this way.
the roach holds more rezin then any other part of the joint the reason it is so harsh is because your putting fire to smoke that got stuck to the weed on the way through the joint n turned back into a solid form from gasious thats also why the end burns hotter n it can also poop rezin out the end all over ur lips/hands BTW IMO a joint isnt allot to smoke by urself ive sat there n smoked 1/4oz blunts by myself before
I found that before when I smoked beasters it would burn my throat,
But Now that I've reached a connoisseur level of smoking and only smoke high grade strains,I notice the smoke doesn't burn my throat,it's the trichome smoke in my lungs that makes me cough.when i smoke kiffed trichomes it feels very heavy on my lungs,forcing me to cough.Really good bud with heavy resin production (i.e sensi's Hashplant) makes my lungs tingle and makes me cough,it has nothing to do with my throat.
Get a glass bong. Stop smoking the end of the joint if it's too hot, you should be high anyway.
Try putting a roach in it - roll a ice of card into a little tube, it'l put a bit of distance between you and the end of the J. I never roll without one.
Also try a hand bong, make a fist, put the joint between your 3rd finger and your ring finger, stick your thumb of the other hand in the bottom to block any air from escaping and inhale through the top, it will also give you a slightly stronger hit
