2nd and 3rd grows in Dirt what have i learned?

Here is a log i wanted to start for 3 little feminized white widows, a simple easy dirt grow a first timer could easily duplicate. And another key point is i am not a very intelligent person, maybe a little slow, so it don't get no easier than this folks. there is also the 2nd grow that i will keep updating here and there, they are a wide assortment of strains coming into a flower room that saw the departure of a hermie just today. bubblegums, cheese, speed queen from mandala, satori from mandala, big bud x2 ones top broke off so its in dire straights. and an old beast that may be killed soon. pics coming.

the white widow were tossed into a tupperware tub, like a quart size, theres a little pile of cotton balls, a little water, and 3 little beans begin their journey to my bowl.. the tub sits on my big flourescent so they are warm and snug. they should pop in a day or so. they will go into disposable paper cups with many holes in the bottom.

i hope this dual log thing doesnt suck, i will go easy on the second grow and the third, just update for changes, simple.

well this logs off to a bad start, where was i? oh man that last crop has left me a mess.. yay! the flower room contains 4 plants females:
bubblegum, cheese, speed queen, big bud, and 1 probable male unsure strain. the veg room has only 1 ready to flower, a satori, and a bunch of starts, white widowx2, big budx3, 2 bubble clones females, a cheese clone female, a j5 has sprouted, only got 2 seeds from her, and ones kinda green, so the 1 has got to make it! theres a few mystery seeds in there, i will get pics of the big girls soon.

i want to also throw out my lights, nutes, stuff like that too, but its late, im stoned and its movie time! post harvest log postings have earned my respect, since my harvest, though small, ive been in my lil world, creative and carefree, happy.

its hash makin time i got a bunch of ground up, semi-filtered stuff, alot of it good pure stuff that fell through the screen during trim. i just cant figure out the best way to go, i want easy, potent, safe, mostly safe, and potent, mostly potent too, oh and easy..

my bubblegum in flower is around 3 weeks, and already already getting frosty! i have high hopes for her and all the other girls, i think the cheese looks like it will be a small producer, the queen should be ok, but im liking the bubble bum alot. looking back at my plants early in flower last time, this group looks better, i think, an extra week or 2 or 3 in veg with good lst and stuff makes alot of difference in bushyness and girth, which hopefull= more bud! the satori is different, grows different than what ive seen, seems "wilder" if that makes sense, the leaves are unique, and the stems seem to spiral a bit, its cool. the leaves are more rounded at the ends too. i want to find a clone in veg to kinda speed along, into flower and try the "bud on a stick", maybe a bubblegum..

Mmmm...Bubblegum, one of my faves. I'm actually have a dozen going that are mostly bubblegum crossed with some high quality 'ghanis. So, I'm going to keep up with this log, deaner. Looks cool so far.

great to hear, i have 3 clones in the dirt now, one looks great. do clones take some time to get going once they hit dirt? i tossed a cheese in today that had some serious rootage, and the bubblegum in the 2 gallon pot went in this morning, serious roots too. i'm so happy with myself to see some clones going to 2nd base.. inerestng to see the difference from seeds and clones. i think bubblegum is a strain i will be hanging onto, it likes my land, it grows well, and should provide for many moon.. cant wait to smoke it!!

it looks like a female satori in the flower room, yay! so 5 girls goin all the way, bubblegum, cheese, speed queen, big bud, satori. i pinched the top of my best clone, bubblegum and its recovering nicely, i dont remember the difference between pinching the top and cuttin it, so i pinched. i will try and get some pics of the flower girls tommorow.

bubblegum looks great concidering shes got 4-6 weeks to go. cheese looks to be small yeildin stink machine, at just under 4 weeks, shes a stinky bitch, like me like. speed queen is a hardy lookin beast, the only one thats is getting any lst'n tlc is the big bud, she lost her top and one branch is growing horizontally and should have 4 good cola goin up to the sun. the satori is the one thats only in the overall shot, she is not a picture person, every angle, just a slumpin old bush, leans like a drunk on a parkin meter. i'm hopin the best, expecting little from her.

Satori isn't my fave for structure but she's a fine producer of the gigglytwigs. I run her for that reason alone. That one's a laugher. Drunk on a parking meter? More like 3 shitfaced sorority sisters leaning on EACH OTHER and not doing a good job of staying upright.

i am honored to have stinky contributing to my log first off. so if you still checkin this out i got a question for you: to trim or not to trim leaves in flower? ive heard the argument on both sides, have tried experimenting some myself, and still not sure if i want to trim them up, they must need the leaves or they wouldnt grow them, but the lower buds dont grow as big, is it due to light or because they just grow smaller at the lower parts of the plant naturally?

in veg, in 2 gallon pots, i have: 2 bubblegum female clones, 1 female cheese clone, 3 big bud from seed, 2 white widow female. sounds nice but im running out of room, can take 4 more, will go with 2 white widows, 2 j5's and the rest are donations, 2 unknowns, a few clones.

so far of these strains some things that stand out in their growth and stuff so far:

bubblegum: so far very happy it, only 1 of 5 seeds have made it to flower, others lost to being male or not makin it due to my being a rookie probably. the flowering bubblegum looks awesome, very healthy, buds came on quick! strong plant, probably ideal for beginners, clones did better than any other starin so far.

cheese: alot less bud so far than the bubblegum, but the plant has more smell than others at its age, so im hopin its strong smoking, not just strong smellin, as with the bubblegum, i got 1 of 5 to flower.

speed queen: very sturdy lil bush, leaves look healthier than any mj plants ive seen in person, should be nice, nothing spectacular so far other than quick through all stages, but the bubble keeps up with it for speed, but i think the speed queens, of the 5 i planted, all of them popped quick, sprouted from the dirt quick.
a good quick beginner plant, hope the smoke is as nice as the plant looks.

bigbud: only planted 2 seeds, both popped within a day, a day to pop out the dirt, and good healthy consistent plants from there, i have 3 new ones i started and the same thing, very uniform. the one i have n flower doesnt deserve any "big" in the name yet, but for losing a good length of its top and the main colas growing horizontally, its a fighter.

white widows: only gone as far as 2 weeks in veg, so no real idea yet.

satori: my youngest. 1 of 3 ended up female, funky looking, but getting better, very curious to see how she turns out.

think thats it, oh and j5: i got 2 seeds, and i'll just say that i REALLY need a female and some clones, the smoke is great and it is a fighter, my first grow, i had alot of seeds in 3 of them, i think 1 went hermie, then the rest?? but j5 was ok, and the smoke: oh man, best i've had (in 5+ years) other than some crazy good shit a freind gets occasionally.

Looking very healthy, don't see any issues that I can see, you know my feeling on pruning, so I'll wait and see what everyone else says.

Also very nice and short compact plants too.

Anotherthing I use steel rods and cable ties to support my cola's. If they are falling over already you need to do something soon.

hey in these pis, if you can see the yellow poointing up thing? looks like a single claw divided into 2 sections sorta, you know what i mean? look at the pics, if they dont show it, i doubt i can describe them adequately. oh its a bubblegum at about 4 weeks..

so im still really unsure as to the hermie shit and what those things are, what to do, etc.. so far she staying, balls or not, if the other ones get pollinated by her, i will have a cross of bubblegum with the other stuff (?? not sure there either) and i will grow them. but what should i be doing? how to stop this, and what about my other plants? i seem to have about zero luck in any pursute and this is depressing to find that the same will apply here. i have been pursuing light leaks and i feel im being pretty anal about it, it should definately be completely dark, ive taped everything, the window is under a thick comfortor, on top of foiled over windows. not to mention they are in a closet, so its dark. put down yer doobies and help a brutha out!

should i just remove it thus killin my oldest and a big yeilder as well from the room? are the clones from her fucked? is this feminized shit really true and are feminized seeds really worth a shit? i just want to grow fucking weed, seedless fucking weed, im a smart dude, what gives??

im stonder than before, yay. the bubblegum herm is gone, sittin in another room, kinda dark, kinda cool, trying to up the temp and circulate some air, then hang it in 3 days, i gotta get pics and yeild then too, it looked ready, close enough at least, conciderin the flowers i was seeing, it was bad, they were coming fast, the smoke should be passable i think/hope, as in: pass it on to someone else to enjoy. so i want to put a couple more into flower, but nothings really ready. the closest are labelled "moms", though one is a clone of the herm (keep her as a mom??) may grow it out as a test, no clones though. lotsa cheese clones coming, my budding cheese girl is pretty, i like the cheese so far. then a growroom full of bigbud and white widow. pics coming, ive been goin a while. :stoned: off to work!

Something is up in your grow area that is causing hermi's, They are mostly caused by light leaks.

Have you checked your space lately for them durring lights out. Another is extream temp flucuatiions.

From my understanding hermi's are caused when the plant can't figure out if it wants to flower or keep veging. The main cause of this is "light leaks''. I saw you have done everything to stop them, Next is temp. Below 60 during lights out then above 85 during lights on may be a cause. Basically hermis are caused by stress and you need to go over everything in your grow to find where the stress is coming from.

hermie home quiz pt.1

1. ok: say my light leaks are now gone for good, and my hermie is safely down the hall, door shut, the process of pollination is over, only sex action will be if the herm knocked up the ladies, right?

2. and there should be no other male flower/pollin to worry about?

3. and i get feminized seeds, if i find them in the other girls?

4. a) and i have clones from the herm; are they decent mom prospects?
b)or should they just be thrown into flower?

5. a)and how can i check night temps, i cant let in light, but i cant see in the dark? (is this some sweet superpower by-product of copious ganja consumption??)
b) where in the growroom should temp readings be taken? ive been using the shelf above, its in the shade and probably warm, cuz the whole heat rises bullshit. i was under the impression that temps taken in direct light read falsely high.

sidenotes from the stoned: this is where im feelin like a rookie, i cant seem to find much info, or the answers to these questions.. so hopefully you all take this quiz and show off your knowledge..
i now wander off to smoke a bowl or 4, i trust the quizes will be on my desk by tommorow.

also i wonder if that hermie buds gonna be aight, cuz it looks great, smells dank, and sticks real good to my fingers, but went into the permanent dark at just under 5 weeks.. looked ready, havent put it under the scope yet.

i had the same issues with 2 plants and didnt catch it in time.....
chances are since that pollen pod looked open, that the pollen has already circulated in your grow room, especially if you have fans..
all you can do is hope that the females didnt get pollinated and that they wont form seeds.
good news is that if they do, the seeds will be 80%-100% feminized.
bad news is that you dank nugs might have some seeds.
as per the temp recordings, what i did was to make sure that the thermometer.hydrometer was at the same level of the main colas to get a pretty accurate reading of the ambient temps and humididty of the area where most action is happening.
my particular therm. has a high low save feature. i check it during lights "on" and clear the previous days high/low, and log it every day.
im pretty sure that i have light leaks and i know that my temps fluctuate from 55* during lights out and 85* during lights on, so i attrubute that to my 2 hermies. cant figure out why the 2 that did the best turned hermie and the others didnt but........what ever.
as per seperating them, i just left them and i pull pollen pods everyday untill harvest now. i found them too late and im not interested in losing 2 very nice plants, ill just hash them. ;);)

hey man i just had the same problem in my grow room.... only one of my girls had a couple of pollen sacs on her so all i did was rip them off and i try to keep an eye on them and give them a thorough once over everyday just to make sure no more pollen can get into the room...the pollen sac in your picture definitely looked opened so theres a good chance that it already pollinated your girls....

here a smoke report on my "scraps" from my last grow:

the scraps and what fell through my taco shell steaming screen during trim, a couple ounces of a monster seed machine weed ground through screen, then its used the shake spin and settle technique so the bottom of the jar becomes hashier and hashier. now whats left, as ive contnued shaking and settling and spinning it, is a hostess ding dong sized cake of keif. the smell is intoxicating, i think a frst timer would get stoned just smelling it. i rolled the other stuff, a shit load of j's. i love the keif, one hit at a time, or mixed in with some bud, damn i like it.

cheese looks to be a winner, bushy and vigorous, so my trichs on her! smells like some crazy good aphgan. got 2 nice clones of her veggin, my private stock buds..
big bug doesnt produce leaves as much as bud, thats good, though this plant was tramatically broken off at the top, the bottom has recovered nicely and should be a decent producer of share it with friends bud.
satori has improved from looking funky, buds are small, but shes young and will be another 6-8 weeks.
still waiting for another to be ready to throw in there, once i clone the bubble i will give her a week to recover and throw her into flower.

ok heres some updates:

built veg cab, cfls, plants like my cfl selection, doin great.
cloned 8 cheese, 4 bubblegum, 4 bigbud ,threw the mom of the bubble clones into flower and a bigbud too, so 5 in there. in the pics its starting from the metal staked one which is the cheese going clockwise: cheese, speed queen, bigbud, bubblegum, satori. the closeup bud shots are the cheese, oh man im looking forward to smokin that! speed queen smells amazing, trychs on cheese got me excited. so i expect 2-3 weeks on the cheese, 3 on the queen, and at least a month on the satori. the other 2 are youngins, the bubble is a lady, the bigbud is unknown sex. i gotta go run somemore tests on the bubblegum.. :jointsmile:

heres some more cheese pics, just cuz it looks and smells so nice, though i must admit the speed queen has a floral scent that has me erect when close. i will gets some pics of her next time, then the very interesting satori. i just found out my night temps are getting too low, like 62 when the lights came on, it get 85 in the light. slowly sealing the room, but i left the window open last night, so it shouldnt be so cold tommorow. my clones all look good so far. another lady will go into the flower room soon. dont know if i mentioned them, but theres a clone bubblegum and a bigbud unknown sex in there now too. my last big bud herm'd. gonna be adding some strains soon, but how many can i really expect to maintain? i will probably leave the bigbud for someone else to grow. rolled a mega j in transparent paper for a freind, fuck it im goin to smoke the thing right now. yay.

wow the cheese is stinkin up the room, its gonna be so fun llghtin that first bowl. her and the speed queen are on the strictly h2o diet now, its the end of 7th week, or the 50th day (could be off a day or 2) so a week of plain water, then watch the trychs. should be ready just over 8 weeks, i hope. threw in a few more, another cheese, a white widow, and i forget the other one, big bud probably. 8 total, i think only 1 unknown sex. time to see if my clones turn out ok. the oldest is showing her hairs, gonna be bigger than what ive grown so far i think. so i should be in ganjaland fer a whle or so.

i have six beasts in veg, bout 6 weeks old, white widow, bubble gum, cheese, and a j-5 probably the last good potential mama of her line. lots of clones in waiting, no roots yet. was stopping water at the end of week 7 right for the cheese and speed queen? is 2 weeks of plain water about right, cuz i am expecting 65 days or so, and thats 16 days without the nutes.. is this good? i am wanting quality over quantity. and i have a beautiful satori thatll be 75 days or so, so whenb should she go to straight water? 2 weeks would be day 61, thats what im guessing, any thoughts?

i had an accident last night, my timer didnt go off and the lights stayed on about 2 and a half hours longer than usual. i had a weird feeling to go check em, and sure enough the lights stayed on. i got a lil guy that likes to follow me and he did something to the timer as i was working on my endless closet door/light leak curtain. i sure hope i dont see any lil yellow flowers..

a couple of hours for one night is nothing to worry about.

So cheese is a real stinker. Wish I could grow some real pungent plants but in my situation I would be too paranoid for a month. So I try to stay with sweet smelling heavy hitter's.

One question, I know you are trying to emulate my growing technice, but I notice you are going to harvest in the 60 day range. Is this due to timing of rotation, they were exposed to a hermi plant, or just because you feel 8 weeks is the limit?

I am asking because I flower now for up to 11 to 12 weeks and go by trics. I start plain water at week 10, and harvest at the first sign of amber trics. The biggest thing I noticed in my grow is my plants seemed to go thru flower cycles that are very decieving to the novice grower. Meaning at around 8 weeks most of the flowers pistols turn red and cylex's swell. Then the plant will go into another flower cycle to try again to reproduce, and will do this up to 3 times. This is how I got some of the mind blowing size and weight out of my plants.

im hearin ya jg,im cuttin due to need fo' weed, and i got a lot of girls coming up behind her and eventually yes id like to show more patience, but i do think shes ready, so tommorow she goes into the dark for a few days, then the public hangin for bein too stinky in public. i got a lil sample piece already cut and drying for some sampling friday, itll be the best these ladies have ever smoked either way and hey- stoned girls are fun, and i dont mean in a take advantage way, but in a giggly happy i can giggle too sorta way.. dang im stoned and its time fer a nap and back to work i will tell ya if "they"think that by some way the good herb reduces productivity they should see my schedule! i will be hangin out for some long flowerings later like when the widow im cloning in 6 days goes into flower and becomes destined to greatness, oh shit freinds some of my girls in veg will be beasts and my bubble at 2 weeks into flower will be huge, shes a beast, just hope she aint too big, good night erbody. :stoned: oh and my veg box is pure green some are scary thick, i am a an lst fan fo' sho'! next group i expect much better yeilds and such, more time in veg is good folks. 8 weeks veg is where im aiming and 9 plants buddn under a 1000 watter soon, is this a good plan, is 1000 watts enought to hit 4 ounces per lady with 8 week veggins? soory i stone when i ramble.

cheese went into the dark. looking at the bud out of the hps light, it looks even better. i have a scope but i seriously have a hard time disserning the trychs color, the amber is a light yellowish/orange? ive seen that color but kinda transluscent, and the difference between clear and cloudy? i really struggle, holdin the bud still not trying to bang it up, and maybe my eyes are no good? luckily im bound to learn over time, albeit slowly im sure. i kinda go by the hairs to guesstimate, then my best figure on trychs, like if it looks 50/50 and i see a few amber, bamn its goin down. amber- like the thing john hammond has at the top of his cane in jurrasic park? the stuff they dig the skeeter out of? maybe its time to invest in a better scope and a hired hand, preferably hot and female, to hold my buds.. yeah my buds.. to keep em steady.

well the interest in this logs gone, but the grow continues.. i have added another flowerin room, called the showroom, all cfl and shorter plants, now it has a couple widows, 4 or 5 cheese, a few locals, will be 10 or 12 plant grow, keep em under 3 feet though. the big room has a couple widows, couple cheese, bubblegum, couple ah fuck it who cares. i wanna thank those who have helped me get a start, and end my log. may you never smoke your last bowl.
