Anything with lightning-speed solos or furious riffs is awesome!!! :chainsaw:
Metallica (their old shit anyways), Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Mastodon, Lamb of God, Nile, Necrophagist, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Arch Enemy, Opeth, Psychroptic, BLS, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Decapitated, Dying Fetus, Exodus, Iron Maiden, Nevermore (Jeff Loomis = God), Sleep Terror, Strapping Young Lad, Vader, Dream Theater, GWAR.. some of their music but their show is crazy.
I also went to summer slaughter last summer, it was badass, cattle decapitation singer was hilarious and decapitated and necrophagist were fucking amazing. Marco Minnemens drum solo was insane.
haha cattle decapitation!"So many people! So few recipes". And yes, their singer was a damn beast- kept loogying 30 feet in the air and catching it in his mouth
oh yeah also forgot to mention Genghis Tron, Dillinger Escape Plan, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, The Red Chord (picked this one up today, these guys are insane, like literally), also used to be huge into BLS but I grew tired of them after they began to sound monotonous
AWESOME! That tour was incredible... I got so high in with some dude smokin a J in the crowd just before Necrophagist's set and I became an instant fan! So incredible...Quote:

Some of my newer favorites: Trivium, At The Gates, All That Remains, In Flames, Disturbed, Godsmack, Sevendust. Not necessarily new, just new to me.
Old-school favorites: Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Slayer, Opeth, Testament, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Fear Factory, and many more.
Good to see there are still metal fans out there!
Hell yes!!! everyone show me those fuckin HORNS!!!! \m/,(oo) \m/,
It seems like there are fewer and fewer death metal fans out there, it's nice to see others supporting out there. I go from old Korn and Lamb of god to Cattle decapitation, decapitated, mutilated, and actually most of the band everyone already listed.
I say the harder it is, the better. There's nothing like hearing those double pedals beat your chest as the guitar squeezes in that last riff before even more hell breaks loose... ahh I just got the chills thinking about it. All you should know what I'm talkin about...
You drummers & your double-bass fanaticism! j/k, brother! I know exactly how you feel. :thumbsup:Quote:

i fucking love metal
I love the older metal. This new metal with all the grumbling and disgusting screaming is annoying.
But like said above, the double pedals are BAD FUCKING ASS!
Dl'ing that song right now:thumbsup:
Does anyone here hears/likes sepultura or angra?
I used to listen to Sepultura, up until the Chaos A.D. album. Are they still making music?Quote:

I'll have to check them out again, I really enjoyed their older stuff. It's been quite a while since I've physically bought a CD... with the popularity of downloadable music, it almost seems like CDs are turning into yesteryears vinyl LPs.Quote:

for those of you who havent heard him, check out bulb. all his music is free at SoundClick artist: Bulb - Metal, or what i call metal rather. I write music so i can listen to it. There are not many bands , guy named misha mansoor, he plays the drums as well as the guitar in all songs.
there are a lot of choose from, i would recommend thefocushour, as it were, soulcrush, ultimatum, letterexperiment, resonance, absolomb, and manifestation.
he kicks so much ass. i love blazing and listening to his music, blows my mind.
may sound weird, but i feel like his songs take me through a journey.. cant explain it
Unfortunately not... most of my life i lived in a small town that was far from any large towns, so their shows were always too far from home for me to go there...Quote:

Very fitting name for such a deeply somber group! Bummer you haven't gotten to see them live, I'll bet they put on one hell of a show. All good things in time, though. They've been around for a while, and apparently aren't letting up any time soon. You'll get your chance. :jointsmile:Quote:

im not really into metal, but im the type of person that likes music after being exposed to enough of it to get a feel for what i like best from it and find more of a similar style. But right now, this chick that i work and smoke with is getting me into metal, at the moment i only really like rammstein, and i dont consider them metal but nine inch nails, but ive listened to them for years, and there is only one other song called come to daddy by aphex twin which is normally an experimental electronic european music man, but he got a jingle in his head one day and it ended up creating a pretty crazy song.
^--=high speak
Yeah i like a lot of the bands mentioned.
I'm glad someone mentioned Psycroptic...I love that band!!
Loads and loads of relly good metal bands out there at the moment.
Love it
Yup. I used to be really into the death metal genre, but now I've settled out of it a bit, and am kinda expanding a lot (compared to before, anyway).
Isis, Maudlin of the Well, Protest The Hero, Electric Wizard (Dopethrone), Cephalic Carnage, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Sikth, Katatonia, and Battle of Mice are a few of my favorites.
I never really got into power metal or folk metal too much. And I'm not a big fan of black metal.
I also play/have played drums in 3 metal bands.
let me revise my list...
Amon Amarth, Baroness, Between the Buried and Me, Black Sabbath, Boris, Building Better Bombs, Converge, Dethklok, Dillinger Escape Plan, Dimmu Borgir, Down, Electric Wizard, Genghis Tron, Gojira, High on Fire, Isis, Kyuss, Mastodon, Meshuggah, Metallica (older), Opeth, Ozzy, Pantera, Pelican, The Red Chord, Rosetta, Scissorfight, Slipknot, Static X, System Of A Down, Sunn O))) Today Is The Day, Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, Tool,
Yeah I love metal.
Born of Osiris, Whitechapel, All Shall Perish, The Black Dahlia Murder to name a few.
i like alot of the melodic death metal-children of bodom, kalmah, catamenia, insomnium, arch enemy, stuff like that.
did anyone get the new children of bodom album? its not their best but still is amazing to hear.
Im a lot into metal and have been since i was 13 or so i especially like black metal i think it is the ultimate soundtrack for evil and human misery and misanthropic feelings but at the same time it can sometimes be beautiful and even romantic in its own way...i also love to listen to some kick ass head banging thrash metal like Sodom,Celtic Frost,Destruction etc
Nothing like some smokin and listening/playing metal. I love it and had inspired me to first play drums. Lately I like:
Dimmu Borgir
Opeth
Chimaira
Through the Eyes of the Dead
Old Metallica
The Black Dahlia Murder
Old Sepultura
Down
Meshuggah
SYL
Exodus
Gojira
old and new Machine Head
If you guys wanna see the closest thing to glory days Sepultura check out Cavalera Conspiracy. Marc Rizzo can shred! As for the new Bodom cd... I agree. I just felt kinda "meh" or just okay.
I've always liked Metallica (well, before they jumped the shark lol) and of course the cheesier 80s hair metal bands like Ratt. I never considered myself a big metal fan though. However I'm dating a guy who is really into metal and played me a Killswitch Engage album last week- I was floored. Really spectacular stuff, and from a bunch of W-MA dudes too, woot woot. The vocals are spectacular and the complexity of the composition is impressive in the way that Tool albums are. Good metal that shows musical virtuosity is a beautiful thing!
Btw how did Eminem get listed in this thread? Am I missing something? :wtf:
call me a metal head....new bands, I dig august burns red, Bloodjinn, Sanctity, dig as i lay dying music, not feeling the christian theme, but man, they wail...not too many others I guess..lol, lil older, slipknot static x, SOAD, manson of course...love all metallica before black album...slayer are metal gods of course...many others....metal seems to be coming back after these last few "emo-phase" years....lol....i hope.....:thumbsup:
whiskeytango
I don't know man I like GWAR, Black Sabbath, Type O Negative, Slayer, and Miyavi. I guess that is as hardcore as it gets for me.
Yeah, I absolutely hate metal........ ;)
Oh wait, nevermind... I just looked at my User Name.
Wayy too many bands to list, and many of you have beat me to the punch. Stinky, I am glad to see that you had the same experience when listening to Killswitch Engage for the first time. Some of it gets a bit fluffy down the line... but some of that shit is bonkers!
P.S. There are a bunch of amazing metal bands from New England... Massachusetts especially!
As for the few bands I have seen live:
Lamb of God
and at the same show... front row... in a SMALL bar. ...
Shadows Fall
All that Remains
Protest the Hero
The Showdown
SIIIIIICK!!!!!
Plus the solo concerts that I put on in my living room with my Ibanez RG5ex1
