NASA - Total Lunar Eclipse: February 20, 2008
Thanks Reb! I might catch that on the way home from work tonight, if it's at the right time. I have a nice 10km bike ride and although it's brass monkeys, it's also been quite misty and gothic with the full moon. I got my long johns on anyway. Woof woof!
EDIT damn I'll miss that it start just as I am going to sleep :( Oh well I saw a good one last year.
i might have to catch that, its been cloudy the last few times there have been eclipses, but its not the last one til 2010, its the last full one that most of north america will be able to see til 2010, which is still a big deal.
im going hiking tonite so ill keep my eyes open
its cloudy and raining so i might not see
heh def gunna burn and chill on my roof tonight!! haha
man...this shit is crazy...its snowin here so i donno if ill be able to see it with all the clouds and what not.
would absolutely love to though, its amazing whats happening
yo what if like during the exact time of the full lunar eclipse, all revolution just stopped...and thats how the end of the world would come about
you aint a damn nerd, this shits for real
Yeah I'll be on break of class just in time to catch the partial eclipse phase. And getting out of class for the night just in time to see the total eclipse phase, the campus is right next to an open park so I plan to head out in the park and do some moongazing:thumbsup:
I'm going to Vermont to go snowshoeing and watch the eclipse somewhere quiet and isolated. Unless I get a wild hair to head up to a ski resort and watch it with the New Yorkers... lol. I AM wearing my Mets hat today, after all!
100% Here. I will see none of it,but thank for the alert Reb.Quote:

Sweet ass. my buddy lives on the 3rd floor of a house on campus that has a really chill spot on the roof to hang out and smoke weed in. He just bought an ash-catcher for his bong so its gonna be a good time. thanks for the heads up
The astronomers greatest enemy strikes again... the bad weather... today was a sunny and cloudless day... but now that the eclipse is going on its raining... Damn IT!!! :(
Better luck for you all...
saw it. i was very lucky cause it rain earlier today and it was just clear enough in that stop the moon was in at the time and i was able to see it so yaaay.
It's cloudy outside:mad:
I seen it :)
It was pretty damn cool
Aside from the freezing cold below zero temps, it was crystal clear here:thumbsup: it was pretty cool to watch as I made my way home from school tonight. I tried taking some pics on my camera phone, but they're not the greatest. Eclipses are hard to photograph well it seems. But I could post them if anyone really wants to see.
Here's a clear pic, it's from a news site
It was cloudy as hell! Didn't see a damn thing!!:(
I love watching these things, but it was cloudy here.
For the past 10 nights the sky over here has been crystal clear and frosty but last night it was cloudy and rainy so no eclipse for me, typical.
NCM
it was nice here in md, it was snowing all day before, and the last time i had seen the sun was when i made my post earlier. then out of the blue when i left work at 7 it started clearing up. then on my ride home at around 930 i realized it was rather dark for being a full moon out, and when i peaked up at the moon it was starting at that point. I raced home, and took 4 quick hits out of my bong, and just watched the eclipse happen, unfortunately i was not looking right when the peak happened, but i had been watching it for the past hour so i feel as though i didnt miss anything.
man was it clear over my house last night. but i called my old man and he told me that he got the shaft and couldnt see the damn thing. too bad that
It was stunning in Southern Vermont. Not a cloud in the sky, no light pollution, just a big sky full of stars and a glowing orange moon.
Someone musta hit the dimmer switch or summin, because it ain't s'posed to look like that.
And it was colder than Jeanne Kirkpatrick in the sack.
had a great night with no clouds (-5C tho).
it didnt do a full eclipse, or i mayve looked away, since it seemed to go until the bottom 1/6th and then get big again.
It was amazing! It made me think about how small we all are and how huge the planets are in comparison. And how big God (if you believe in it) is compared to the planets. Wow.
It was freezing cold but we bundled up and watched almost the whole thing from beginning to end (except when we got cold and went to make tea and warm up for like 10 minutes)
I think our neighbors thought we were insane sitting outside in the cold and snow :)
I felt pretty disappointed. It just looked like a cloud with a strait edge covering the moon really.
The nerds shall inherit the Earth. Say it with me Reb, say it loud and with great pride, I AM A NERD!!! :D:thumbsup:Quote:

nah for real though I missed hte eclipse, I dont kknow if It was raining but I was definitly workin, I could have step out side but I totaly forgot. last night I tried to look for that spy satilite being blown up though, I missed that too. I would have realy like to see that.
Unless you live in the middle of the Pacific ocean you weren't going to see the satelite.
Oh thats why I didnt see anything, I bet that was beautifull a heavaly noticable explosion in the sky its like big boy fire works.
Yeah I watched it all occur on the news. It was pretty cool.
Big Boom!
Here's a link to the briefing. There is a short clip of the missile hitting the satelite. BOOM!
yeah big ba-da-boom, I saw the footage but I wish I seen it live. I bet it was something kool
And now theres a shit load of metal and plastic falling into the ocean.
I'm sure that's wonderful to the environment haha. Oh well, it had to be done. you can't have a satelite the size of a mini-van falling from the sky into a city going at a good 7,000 mph.

Youtube-Explosion
Anyone want to recommend a particular strain to enjoy during the eclipse?
If you want to smoke weed for this eclipse, you'll need one that allows you to travel back in time. The eclipse was yesterday.Quote:
