Four 500 ml big, thick hits
Hi - I have recently been smoking weed to try and understand its effects. I have been trying to vary the amount I smoke to try and decipher what is associated with being really high, high, and not that high.
I don't know how to classify whether my stuff is good or not. But all I know is this stuff I bought recently is pretty good stuff. I have a friend who has smoked for years and he says its very good stuff. Anyways, I decided to smoke buckets the other day - I hit 4 500ml buckets, full of thick white smoke in a span of under 3 minutes (practically one right after the other...inhale, hold in for as long as possible, exhale, 10 sec break - do it again). My question to everyone is - what would you expect this to do to someone? Would you think I got really high or not that high at all. I know what I experienced and I will share it after I get a few responses - I just want to know if what I did is thought of as a lot or a little.

If it was decent bud you probably got pretty high, i smoke a lot of gravity bongs when im alone and always get highhh. Taking a bucket hit then standing up while ghosting the hit always fucks me up, sometimes i even black out ahah.

use your own judgment, smoke and do different activities and such and compare how it feels and affects you as opposed to being sober..I smoke decent brick weed...I can take two hits out of my bubbler and have slight onset and relaxation, three or four and I'm good, not ripped out of my mind, but relaxed enough to be comfortable..
You're just going to have to mess around and see how it affects you. It affects every person differently..

it seems to me that that would be my level of smoking to a good point, im not really high, nor am i really unhigh, it is my prefered highness for if i have to go do something later, or if im wanting to be able to hold a conversation, but still be able to just wander off midsentence and have to ask what i was talking about every once in a while.

I try not to smoke a lot before class because just getting a little high is at least manageable. Smoking large amounts puts me in an almost zen-like state, which is a lot of fun but not a good idea for class. I love weed, but its better to use it when you can actually enjoy the effects.

4 bong hits of some good quality haze usualy has me on the floor so i would say 4 buckets would get you pretty stoned
im no light weight, i just know how to hit a bong.

Tolerance has a lot to do with it.
When I first started smoking I couldn't even function after I smoked. It can be awful stuff too, and if you haven't smoked a lot you will still get unbelievably high. Mainly just because you're not used to feeling like that.

I don't know what "ghosting" a hit is, but he makes a valid point on depriving his brain of oxygen. Many people make the common mistake of holding it as long as they can, which is completely unecessary and much worse on your lungs. The THC will completely absorb into your lungs after 5 seconds at the most, and a good 2-3 seconds will get 90% of it.
Don't hold your hits so long!

Some signs of being really, really, really high (for me at least) are:
1. feelin' scary high. Like you say to yourself "O shit, I might be a little too high"
2. having a slight feeling of your stomach dropping out, kinda like that cool feeling on a roller coaster.
3. why the fuck can I not stop grinning like a fucking chershire cat?
4. colored visuals and people turning into trolls at reggae concerts.
5. feel like you are about to have a panic attack, extremely paranoid, short of breath.
These rarely, rarely ever happen to me anymore as my tolerance is far, far too high. But when I first started smoking, I would know I was fucked when I got those signs listed above.

Ghosting is holding the hit in so long that you force almost all the smoke into your lung tissue so that when you exhale nearly nothing appears to come out, its realllllly unhealthy

Eheh Im pretty aware of the absorbtion times and such and know its unhealthy, but sometimes its kinda fun to do because i always have flashbacks for the few seconds im out.

i'm more of a joint smoker,i don't get any more stoned ripping a bong,pipe or bucket than smoking a joint,i just get stoned quicker,but never feel satisfied and allways feel i need a joint straight after.

And also appreciate the smaller things in life a bit more such as hangin out outside with an appreciation for natures beauty.the only answer to your question is. what does the world see as healthy that actually is good for you or healthy? its what you make of it. I'm not talking about holding your breath. I'm saying, that getting up while inhaling isn't healthy because oxygen rushes throughout the body making you feel dizzy. That's why he's getting those blackouts. It's really not good for the body. Ghosting the hit also doesn't help him either.

the reason they arent deprived of oxygen is because while they're holding in a breath of pure air, we're holding in a breath of thick tarry smoke

The swimmer definitely takes in more air in that one big breath than the toker does in that one big hit, but the toker is sitting on his ass while the swimmer is using ALOT of O2 and much faster, yeah?
I guess one could exhale completely and then inhale just smoke until they ran out of lung capacity (some head shops sell gas masks that do this) but most people release a carb and suck down some fresh air before their lungs are filled to capacity, yeah?

Take a two-liter gravity bong hit up to your full lung capacity and then hold it and do a weighted apnea dive down to 200 feet. That will get you really stoned right before you die.

Well... remember that the smoke contains carbon monoxide (CO), which binds to hemoglobine more than 200 times strongly than oxigen... so, while holding a lungful of smoke the CO is binding (and thus busying) the hemoglobine, and even after you exhale the smoke, the CO remains bound to the hemoglobine. So, the available hemoglobine goes lower and it diminishes the O2 transportation rate, causing oxigen deprivation.

Supposing one is releasing the carb and getting some fresh air, how long do you think it takes for true "oxygen deprivation" to occur?
What do you think the short term and long term side effects would be?

Well I completely forgot I posted this thread and was surprised at all the replys.
The answer to how I felt after hitting these four 500ml bucket hits in short succession is not that good.
You see I don't feel all that good when I smoke weed. I can almost say I really don't think its that much of an enjoyable experience for me. A lot of people report it giving them a relaxing pleasant feeling. I almost report the opposite. Thoughts come in and out of my mind rapidly and often with high intensity. Then when I try to remember what I just thought - poof - I cannot. My memory disappears. I feel a general anxiety.
I have tried to enjoy it and given it many chances - but I just do not.
There are people out there that would be in the same group as me - having experienced similar things when smoking marijuana. My question is why? Why the complete dichotomy in thoughts between those who enjoy and those who don't?
What are people's answers and speculations?

Baller, im sure youre smoking some sativa strains... they make your mind race at 1000mph, gives some anxiety (or even panic attacks), and all symptoms you described.
The relaxing, mellowing, stoning weed is the indica. You should try it, and feel the difference... :thumbsup::rastasmoke:

Ya Indica is more of a relaxing high. It helps anxiety but i do somtimes enjoy sativas. It is more of a preference really.
