This is a two part question as pretty much stated in my subject line.
I'll post each question with it's corresponding pictures.
My first question is this. As I understand buds like direct sunlight and tucking the leaves/branches out of the way is the preferred method, but I have a beast of a plant that vegged under CFL's. What would be your suggestion in this situation?
Please see the pictures below. I've got 4 pictures showing all 4 sides of the plant.
the second part of my question is this.
I'm trying to determine the sex and I think this is female as I see a fine hair growing out where the nodes are, but it's almost invisible to the eye. I can only see it in the right light and the right angle.
I know the pictures aren't that great but was wondering if someone could help me out in 'guessing' the sex?
here are what I believe to be better pics in determing the sex. I am confident that it's female but it may just be wishful thinking.

Even with poor eyesight, it looks like white female hairs to me. Tip your hat to that lady, son....:D
My next sugguestion is a 400 HPS...and watch that lady explode in buds...:thumbsup:
Yeah, that's a female. Make sure you have room for that thing when you flower it. It's gonna get huge.
Just bend/tuck leaves if they're covering buds. I've been reading arguments of cutting vs. tucking since I started growing and personally I feel better not cutting the plant. The fan leaves are what take in the majority of light for the plant, so it makes sense to me to leave them.
I'll try to tuck but as you can see I'm doing LST and most of my stuff is already tucked.
This is pretty much the biggest pot I can utilize too given my grow space. I'll see what I can do.
As odd as it sounds I'm hoping for some males to pop up in my other 6 plants so I can the females into wider pots.

but if I do scrog wouldn't the canopy just block the light? Also I have 7 plants total. So I'm not sure I have the space to scrog properly. I plan on building a 6ft x 3ft x 3ft cabinet. It's about all the space I can afford.

a little longer than I wanted. I wanted to only do it for 6 weeks but I had to do it for 8 weeks as I was waiting for several smaller plants to catch up and be mature enough to move to 12/12.Quote:

yeah thats really nice, Im doin kinda the same thing Ive got 6 23w 6500k(daylight) cfls, getting more, and Ive used 2 storage bins, i bought 2 jumbo automobile shade blockers, chrome duct tape, and a dryer air hose, at the top I plan on putting an in take pc fan on one side, and an exhaust fan on the other side, as you can see an intake fan at the bottom. Im putting 2 plants in it. when the plants get too tall I can seperate the two halves and put walls to make it taller. I am also putting the hose from a homemade c02 (fermentation). check it out and lemme know what you think, Im gonna work on it a couple more hours tonight, hopefully finish.:thumbsup:

You need a fairly enclosed space for CO2 to work. But if you want to give it a try then go for it. Bakers yeast is cheap and 2 liter bottles are free if you drink the contents. It can't hurt for the price it costs. All in all it looks good. Though I think I would replace those sun blocker things with just white paint.
I had mylar in my box and I still think I would just use flat white paint next time. So much easier to work with and nearly as reflective.
