What the fuck are they thinking. Is it really so difficult to just not publish cartoons like this, regardless of wether the extremists were out of line sending death threats, or whether you think the muslims are perhaps overreacting to it, portraying a religious figure as a terrorist is very disrespectful, in my opinion.

I was there when it happened, and I was one of the many who marched down to the police station and held a protest outside it that night.
I'm just saying out of respect for the majority of muslims who are peaceful, I don't think it is right to print a cartoon which effectively brands anyone who worships mohammed as an extremist who wants to blow up the west. Free speech or not, it's very disrespectful.

Fair enough, they made a mistake and printed a cartoon which offended the muslim world, I'm sure they didn't mean to. They now have the assholes who threatened the "artists" life, Great! There's no need to kill anyone for putting their foot in it.

The first time it was just satire...unfortunately some people can't take a joke as well as they can throw out death threats. This time, full well knowing what may happen, is close to inciting a riot.

As far as I'm concerned they're expressing their hatred to a religion and though its mean and disrespectful they have every right to do it. there's not a single day that goes by where someone elses opinion offends me...shoot just the other day I met an anti semite and I'm a jew but did I get all pissed off? You see I think it was necessary to reprint this because by reprinting it we are showing everyone that we're not afraid of terrorists. Now I am in no way saying that I agree with what they are doing, or that they necessarily reflect the true Islamic religion properly, but you have to give them some credit if their motives truly are righteous and in the name of god, as they claim. According to the Koran, only a truly enlightened being, whose heart and mind have not been sealed by god, could ever see the justification behind the violence.
It may be scary to think about but the Koran isn't all about violence, so don't assume that because it preaches death to infidels it doesn't also preach peace. You can find many passages and quotes to justify the perspective of a peace to infidels and trespassers message as well.
It's a very complex and thought provoking situation and the answers can only be found in a person's own view of reality. Their perceptions of life, god, morals, good, evil, everything. While I do not think the extremist movement is ethically responsible, and I consider their crimes against humanity an outrage, I still have to respect their convictions and obedience to god. They are truly the walking manifestation of "god's" warriors.

It is always the muslims choice to believe in Islam, therefore it is their choice to be offended by taking a stance. People will disagree. People will challenge your beliefs. People will not believe in any gods or master, like myself. Offense is subjective. People get offended by different things. If religious people get offended when you question God or their beliefs then that's their problem, not mine. They're just frustrated and close minded. Perhaps they've never even questioned their beliefs, they just hold them as superstition, which then becomes dead dogma. A belief is not one worth having if you can't justify it against your opposite. Comparing a prophet to a terrorist is a hyperbolic comparison. Obviously, Allah isn't committing these murders, he doesn't exist. It's people, it's always the people. The cartoon then isn't so much a dig at islam, instead at these extremists who are ruining the world with their tainted and dangerous belifs. It highlights the ludicrousy of jihad. If i disagree with them i should be killed in the name of allah. Fuck that. Religion kills. Is the cartoon disrespectful? Yes, to some people and not to others. So what though? I have every right to disrespect you with my words as you do to me. As long as i don't infringe upon your human rights or attempt to stop you fulfilling your freedom. I think all religions should receive the same criticisms for the ridiculous ideas that they are. The knowledge gained by man about our origins and the world around us has surpassed the need for invisible men to explain things. Plus, terrorism and bigotry are the best things that can possibly come from believing in an invisible sky man. Why give stories about invisible sky men more than a laugh? The shit is retarded and its time for the human race to face facts, and facts show we are just a super evolved intelligent animal with a super involved brain. We need to stop walking on eggshells around to topic of religion mainly because it relies 100% on faith even in the face of facts and observable reality.
