BBC NEWS | Middle East | Poison cake kills Iraqi children
Printable View
The UK government has flown antidote medicine to the Middle East after some Iraqis became seriously ill from eating cakes laced with the poison thallium.
Two of the victims, both children, died after eating cake delivered to a military club in Baghdad.
Others are being treated in hospital in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
It is the first time the deadly toxin has been used since the downfall of Saddam Hussein, whose regime used it to kill its opponents.
At least two of the poison victims, the secretary of the Iraqi air force club and his daughter, are critically ill in Amman.
They and half-a-dozen other patients suffering from thallium poisoning were flown from Baghdad to Amman as the necessary treatments and antidotes were not available in Iraq.
Britain responded to a request for help from the World Health Organization and medication was flown out.
A bio weapon from the Saddam days? That can't be! There were no WMD's in that country.
Have a good one!

No, it's much more likely Islamic Fundamentalists that weren't there before we went in brought this chemical agent in that has never been there before, except for when Sadam used it, but whatever.;)Quote:

Unfortunately you have to seek out these stories, and I guess if you rely on cable news and print media to feed you, then you probably really believe no wmds were there, or that they weren't carted off by the truck load, or that we don't have video of that happening, or that there are any of these kinds of weapons in the hands of terrorists there. Yeah, they happened to bring them with them right.
Well done to the American forces for finding it and stopping the terrorists from using it....Quote:

You know, it would have been so much easier to just kill Saddam this way. The number of times Rumsfeld has met him to sell him guns, and maps to invade Iran, he could have arranged a meeting easily and slipped a few drops of rat poison in his tea when he wasn't looking.
Certainly it would have avoided hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths, and they could have blamed it on the Russian probably as well.
and they were manufactured by america/the west. so who will have the antidote the west?Quote:

Wow! You should work for interpol or something, You know for a fact where it was manufactured, why didn't you say something before it was used! Do you know who used it too? Can you tell us all when it was made too!Quote:

Seems fishy but the chances of it having been Saddam's seem low. I mean some insurgents got their hands on it during the invasion or something and then sat on it for 5 years or so? Then use it against children?
Don't get me wrong, it could have been Saddam's but it seems unlikely considering.
Plus anyways are you implying it was a good idea to invade Iraq?
No you're right, they hiked it in in their superman thermous that is in their marvel comics lunch box? That's much more likely, that some turd in a cave made it and brought it in. Not very likely that Sadams regime made it since they actually have used it previousely on people in that county. No you are probably right.Quote:

Use it against kids, no that is to far beneath them! They have such a high moral standard when it comes to attacking people. They never TARGET CHILDREN, WOMEN, UNARMED CITIZENS, THEIR OWN PEOPLE, yeah that never happens.
The war, yeah it was and is a good idea. Unless you like the sound of "alllalalalalalalallla" and the taste of camel poop and making soccer balls. Yeah it was a great idea! It was executed much nicer than it should have been. It could have been over by now, if we would do the right thing instead of pussy footing around.:S4:
In no way shape or form could u try to back up GWB with a few people dying from thallium. I mean thats like someone pouring a gram of fine led in your drink its because someone doesnt like you not because george didnt find a WMD.Quote:

i have a question here does anyone know what thallium is used for? it can be readily found in rat and ant poison (not in the US) so as far as this being a WMD i find it highly unlikly. i would ind it morelikly that these terroist did hat they do best, took what they had at hand and used it. the roadside bombs were not designed to be used in the metod thay were used but rather with a little inguinuity they were able to take an artillary shell and make it a remote detonated device. so would it not also be concievable that they take a box of rat poison and turn it into a weopon?
had this been mustard gas, nerve agent, blister agent, or a bio weopon and killed 200 people well i would go with the wmd. also this had 8 victoms, they could have also concievably came into contact with it accidently
You know what KUSH, for someone so prompt to hit that report button, you can be REALLY sarcastic and mean. Please treat others the way you'd like to be treated.Quote:
