I'm a Mars Volta fan! Although i can't always understand what they're singing (spanish) it always sounds awesome. I'm surprised more people on here haven't chimed in! Maybe they've just never heard of em... either way its some kick ass stoner music in my opinion!

A Great Song For Those Who've Never Heard :hippy:
im a fan, and i like the spanish songs even though i have no idea what they are saying.
fuck the lyrics, dude, zavla or whatever his last name is lyrics are pretty much stream of thought gibberish. the crazy loops and guitar-scapes and the awesome vocals is what makes the volta kick ass.
i like the song l'via l'viaquez or whatever it's called ... and televators ... and all the other ones too
volta is soooo good. when people say "classic rock of the future" i must agree.
they are playing tonight near me, but I am not going to make it. :(
Meccamputechture and L'Via L'Viaquez are my 2 favs, but really all of their stuff is amazing. One of few bands I can just load up and not skip any tracks in the whole disco.
The Mars Volta kick ass. I think Deloused in the Comatorium is the best cd I've ever bought. I was supposed to see them in Atlanta but it got fucking cancelled:mad:
MV is an amazing band, but I really wish At The Drive-In would get back together. I know it's not going to happen, but ATDI's music blows MV out of the water.
I have De-Loused in the Comatorium and it's pretty good. I'm not a huge fan, but I like to listen to it every once in a while.
I've been told their other albums aren't very good, though.
Their newest cd is pretty decent. Not as good as De-Loused but its still pretty damn good. I've heard good things about their second cd Frances the Mute and I've heard their 3rd cd Amputechture is a piece of shit.
Wow i thought frances the mute was awesome. Seriously Cassandra Gemini is amazing, 30 some odd minutes of beauty. Know every word of it :] I havent grabbed the newest but De-Loused was wonderful, and i thought Amputechture was worth buying...
So im definately going to grab their newest!
i agree frances the mute was awsome and the 30 minute song kicked ass.Quote:

I have not listened to Scab Dates or Bedlam enough to comment on them, but they aren't bad.
At the Drive In was so much more than the Mars Volta will ever be.
finally someone agreesQuote:

I think they are great! I've seen them 7 times, and it still doesn't seem like enough. They have an awesome live show. They don't have an opening band, and they usually play for over 2 hours.
i adore the mars volta. i really wanted to see them in SC @ the house of blues...closest place i could hear them bc im in va...but couldnt go bc i had no one to road trip with :(
however, they'll be at the music festival in austin, tx in september and i WILL be going to see them then.
oh, and deloused is the best. im about to pack a bowl and listen to my fave, inertiatic esp.
Does anyone here have their tix for the show in September? If so and you live in the A or around the A and are gonna come to the show, you can def come chill at me and my gf's place in the HEART of Midtown just a a minute or two from the Tabernacle.
Yeah, Ive got tickets to see them on September 20th in Philly. I only got to see them with Theodore once and wish to god he would come back. And to what TOOL9 said, Amputechture is in no way short of being called a great album. If you cant listen to the long songs and Cedric's extremely wide vocal range than I dont know why you would listen to any of their other music.Quote:
