Tried many different things but still have sick babies check out the pics please
:(Hey everyone u guys have been giving me kickass advice since i signed up here and im slowly learning enough to be able to help other people out...I have one big problem though that i have no idea how to figure out. After about 3 weeks of 24/7 light growth the tops of a couple plants started going really yellow and shrivelled and the bottom leaves were getting brown spots and going yellow after a few days as well...I found out last week that the ph in my water was 8.5!!. so i adjusted it to about 6.8 and have watered about 3 times since..i read on this forum that maybe the yellow tops is a sulphur def and to treat with epsom salts but that doesn't seem to be working. I thought it may have been a nitrogen def so i gave them water with diluted ferts (30-15-15) but then lower leaves on the plants are becoming crispy i have noo idea what it is ...maybe root bound??? there are 4 plants in an 8 gallon rubbermaid container and the tallest one is only like 7 inches. I am soo worried about them could u guys please help me out thanks.
Plants are about one month old and looked great until about 10 days ago.

If they are in good soil don't give them any nutes yet. Just water and change the light cycle to 18/6. They are actually looking pretty good.

Sounds to me like you need to flush them with ph correct water and get rid of all those extra fert salts you put in......they look sort of overferted and I'd say an abnormal soil ph causing lockout.

anf one question about flushing....i have 8 gallons of soil and i was wondering how much water i would have to use to flush it and if i dump all this water on at once thanks for all the help !!!!:)

Off the top of my head Id say about 3-5 times the size of your pot.....8 gallons. x 3....25 gals of water.....pretty quickly yes......that's the point of flushing. All the water also MUST BE ph correct......between 6.2-6.8 and after flushing it should come out the same from your soil as whatever ph you poured in the top.
With the photos of your plants from 10 days I can now see how quickly they've gone downhill so I think they are WAYYYYYY overnuted as well as abnormal ph. I'd get to flushing them as soon as possible if you can.
The link may give you other ideas to try but I have a pretty good feeling you are in for some work.
Good luck.

thanks alot!!! so im going to flush them right now ...but if i gave them that much water wouldn't that be like wayy overwatering and then wouldn't they be sick again

i just flushed with 6 gallons of distilled ph corrected water....the runoff of the first ph test i did while flushing had a whopping ph of around 8.5!!!!....im going to continue to flush tommorow but i cant anymore tonite i ran out of water...

You can flush just fine with plain tap water if you correct the pH.
8 gallons is a very large pot for young plants like that. Generally, a 2-4 month old plant can live happily in a pot between a quart and a gallon. Anything larger, and you will have trouble with soil outside the root zone sitting wet since the plant can't get to it.
That's a CrAzY high pH- fits with the lokout symptoms but double check your meter calibration if you are using a meter.

i was using a water ph meter to test the runoff...the initial runoff had a ph of like 8.5 really dark blue ....it seems much better now though i flushed with 12 gallons of ph corrected (6.4) distilled water

That's called a 'liquid indicator' just to avoid confusion- when you check the water with drops and compare colors.
Good, glad you got that sorted.

the ph scales are still the same right with liquid indicators and ph meters?

Yup. pH is an expression of the concentration and activity of hydronium ions. It's a logarithmic scale. I hate advanced trig and calculus. That's why I'm not a chemist on paper.

nice thanks alot ..what ph do you have your babies at and do you have any pics

I use a compost mix from the local farmer supply that is buffered really well and stays smack dab at 6.8. I don't know where you live but if you have Agway nearby they carry the shit. Composted manure with humus. Add 30% perlite and you have a mix suitable for week 3 of vegging through finish.
I have a lot of pics but since I became a mod I haven't been posting pics very often... I should get back to it I guess lol! Search 'miss stinky's first grow log' and 'welcome to the darkside' and you will come up with two logs. 'so that's what stinks up in the attic' has a lot of pics too.
