Survive 2012: Ancient Mayan Doomsday, Pole Shifts and Evolution
Worried? No. Curious to know what happens? Yes.
Probably nothing as LIP says, I think in all likelihood someone down the aeons will have miscalculated time and got the dates completely wrong. I heard on the radio a while back that apparently the 7th and 8th centuries never existed because someone decided centuries ago that they had miscalculated the birth of jesus or something and the calendar was corrected. (whatever centuries it was they presented a very compelling argument saying there has never been any archeological evidence pointing to that period of time)
Anyway, getting away from the subject...
Scientifically, it seems that the human race is going through a very MAJOR paradigm shift at the moment, and whether or not this ties in with Mayan prophecy or an evolutionary shift in conciousness or whatever is anyones guess.
One thing is for sure, the world will certainly go a little bit crazy around that time, I expect there will probably be some religious suicide pact somewhere, and probably a massive rainbow festival in Peru. I might even go there myself if I have the money and the time, what the hell it is a once in a lifetime event, whether anything happens or not...
i dunno.... read around on that sight or even just google it... all the things they point out are true.. and yes i'm aware that we always have prophecies of doomsday... but just seems like everything ties into that damn date.....
just as i was writing this i realized something else..... 2012 will be a presidential election year, and this year, in 2008 we have a very real chance of having the first black president or the first woman president...it's little things like that that i just keep seeing over and over
I am not worried about the end of the world, I am embracing it and looking forward to it.
This world we live in is so fucked up that the only thing that will help it is total destruction and devastation to our population.
My buddy Edgar is from Guatamala, the land of the Maya and it is his fault the calandar is set to end the world in 2012
At least that is what I tell him, it is his fault. He just smiles:D and say's "haha" sounding like that kid from the Simpsons.
Im just picturing some Mayan guy drawing out the calendars, hitting two thousand twelve, rubbing his eyes, then saying fuck this and making some phrophecy so he could blow it off and go play some Mayan sports
The Chinese "I Ching" ends in 2012 also. Kind of strange that these two end in the same year.
Have a good one!
You have got to be kidding me.Im a fairly open minded kind of guy but this is some Agrade bull plop. what an arrogant thought that we are the pinnacle of civilisation and it all ends for humans as us. Humans have always had an underlying fear that there is impending doom just around the corner, this is natural we would not have survived as a species if we didn't because sometimes were right and that paranoia is what could save your life. I beleive this non-sense is just a form of this conditioning to be scared of the un-known. in a time where there is so much information availiable u can find a patern in just about anything if u are looking for im not surprised this guy has come up with this theory but for me to beleive in it i need some actual proof not just coincidental ramblings."We have nothing to fear except fear it's self"
btw who gives a shit if it's an election year and america could have a black/woman president. There are other nations that have had balck/women and even black women president's for decades
all I can say is...if so, I hope it's not painful..at least I'll be 21 for a couple years..
My brother told me that predictions relevant to this mayan calender have been accurate so far?? I'm not sure with what, but it all fits into the puzzle..wont know until the day comes..
A big part of me believes it's just going to be another "Millenium" event. When everyone went bonkers before the new millenium and nothing happened. It is interesting that the year 2012 occurs throughout the world in different cultures. I used to be all about this kind of stuff, but one day I decided, screw it, i only live once, i might as well just go about my life. I don't worry about those kind of things anymore. If the end of the world were to happen tomorrow, i'de rather not know about it until it happens.
i dont think the world will end, but it will end the way we know it. the most logical thing i read/heard with is that magnetic north might change and cause serious weather problems and most people will die because they dont know to take care of themselves.
i knew it! i just kknew there wasnt a meaning to life!
if it does end.
if it doesn't, well life goes on? hehe
I dont think theres gonna be some catastrophic event thats gonna "end the world". I think with time we will feel the impact of sucking the earth and our natural resources dry that will create a chain of events which, i believe will systematically, because of dwindling resources, thin out population ending in famine and a giant bow on top of becoming a barren unlivable planet. Regardless of when or what it might be Im not worried about. Im worried about my dog not suffering and having enuff weed and fire to go out in fucking style. bring it on.. cant complain. we did it to ourselves.
Looking forward to it if it happens.I really doubt it will happen, but if it does,I will embrace it....
Thank goodness I have all those supplies sealed and buried out in the wilderness...
Don't the buddhists also talk about our collective consciousness transcending into the fourth and fifth dimensions as well around this time, whatever that means... Something like that.Quote:

Apparently the magnetic field goes through a period of chaos and the aurora borealis will become visible everywhere in the world.
There was some guy on the radio talking about this, I missed most of the show, but he was saying something about the solar system passing through the plane of the galaxy and there are cosmic rays that will bombard the earth, also something about a light will appear in the sky from the centre of the galaxy. I can't remember exactly what he said so that might be wrong, I would like to read up about all this sometime, it sounds pretty interesting.
I really doubt the world will end. I'm pretty sure they already said it would a long time ago....it didn't end.
I believe it
to be grade A bollocks :D
It won't be the end of the world, but an end of a certain time period, not ruling out our inevitable deaths, but there are many events that are possible. One of the most popular theories is the polar shift (The North Pole aligns to the equator?) and our Sun aligning to the center of the Milky Way. I've heard about an asteroid, but I'm not sure about that one, but our planet could be affected by solar flares from our sun.
There is the possibility that we will be guided through this "Apocalypse" (Greek word meaning: Unveiling). Whatever is to be revealed, I hope we are ready for it.
I can't say I do believe the world is going to end on that date.
I believe we've had a discussion about this before?Quote:

i dont think its gunna end. like everyone said, the end of the world has been predicted so many times. im still interested to see what happens though, but i dont believe it
I don't think that they are saying the world will end though, it is just peoples misinterpretation. It is more like the end of a cycle, and the start of a new age.
If it ends in 2012, at least I'll die in a pretty cool way. We would all be some of the last humans that ever lived. If it doesn't end in 2012, sweet!
I've been through soooo many of these domeday predictions. It didn't end in 1998, it didn't end in 2000, it didn't end on 6/06/06, and it won't end in 2012.

Here we briefly converge with the ideas of Terence McKenna. In the book he co- authored with his brother Dennis (Invisible Landscape, Seabury Press 1975 and Harper San Francisco, 1993), Terence suggests that the position of winter solstice sun within 3 degrees of the Galactic Center in the year 2012 A.D. (a "once-in-a-precessional- cycle" event) may provide the eschatological end point for his theory of time known as Timewave Zero. His end date was chosen for historical reasons and was, apparently, only later discovered to correspond with the Mayan end date. The McKennas point out that this unusual astronomical situation has been noted by other writers, namely, Giorgio de Santillana and Hertha von Dechend in Hamlet's Mill (1969). As ACS Publication's The American Ephemeris for the 21st Century shows, in the year 2012 the Galactic Center is at 27 Sagittarius (within 3 of winter solstice). Thus McKenna demonstrates that on winter solstice of 2012, Galactic Center will be rising heliacally just before dawn, in a way reminiscent of how the Maya observed Venus's last morningstar appearance.
lol if it does end lets go out sharing a blunt, k?Quote:

yeah and that's the problem of why no even less are taking this one seriously, but i'm a skeptic... and it's even got me freaked out.... i've been looking into this stuff for months now.... reading, watching documentarys just cramming my brain with info about it... and at first it was like.... yeah yeah, they always say this... then as more and more scenarios (That's the thing.... there are so many cataclysmic events that are long overdue that we can look back in history and prove have happened before on a somewhat rigid schedule) and then alllllllllllll the prophets that picked the exact date of 2012....Quote:

i'm a logical person, i look at the facts and take the logical side.... i've spent months looking into this, and the reason i'm worried is becuase for once, FOR ONCE, the logical side is this side.....

The end of the world or just another count-down for a new year, I'm gonna be blown out of my mind before either outcome!
Worst case scenario:
Earth's magetic field disappears for a whole year in the process of switching poles. We will be bombarded by cosmic radiation that kills us all. We may not have any warning at all.
I'm not worried. I think the chances of me dying in a car accident is greater.
the only thing that will help us is total destruction and devestation to our population? haha, isn't that like killing the patient to cure the disease?Quote:

Ive heard theories about it not being the end, but a new beginning. In my eyes, a new beginning doesnt necesarily have to start with a whole new human race. What if some huge event occurs but it doesnt destruct our planet or wipe out all of the humans on it. Maybe its purpose will be an awakening, such a strong gigantic natural force in the sky gives an appearance...thats all it would take....this world needs to look up at night....its there....just a lot of people lost interest dealing with all the bullshit LIFE has to offer. But that IS all it would take. Everyone on the planet would see and no one would have any choice but to believe in what they saw, everyone would look around and behold the wonders among them..see everything as a new world, cleansed. When it comes down to it, thoughts, beliefs, opinions, ideas, ...your age, your name, your dog or cat or family..dont matter..Whats happening now is what is to be observed....if it is the end of life...im not sure if it will be earth, or the universe or only THIS DIMENSION, but...im sure the cause is just as important as why were here to begin with....we need to accept our fateQuote:
