Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
Those of you who post pictures of your grow rooms, have you ever posted a picture of yourself on this site prior to posting pictures of your grow room?
Those of you who have, is your grow room legal or illegal?
Those of you who haven't, is it because your room is illegal, or you are just sketch in general? (i.e. of the feds or people who want to steal your plants).
...and do a lot of you who grow not post pictures of anything at all due to general paranoia?
Just trying to figure out how safe you all believe posting pictures of your room is(especially if you have already put pictures of yourself in different areas on this website)
Sounds like a good idea to get pointers and such on medical grows...then again...maybe not.
I apologize if you have all been asked this a million time, I don't often have time to frequent these boards-but always appreciate it when I do.
...also, sorry if I should have put this in a different forum!
Thank you!

Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
I have posted this pic of myself .
I don't really go for posting pics of myself because I am a fairly private person , cannabis is still illegal in England but I am not that bothered about any come back from the law since the UK is nowhere near as strict as some places
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
i doubt even if this site is monitored that the feds are going to come after your for having a couple of plants and even if they do they dont really need your photo to do so
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
i don't post pics of myself as a safety precaution. If your posting on here to begin with, you don't really care about getting caught. But no feds come a knocking yet. :beatdeadhorse:
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
I don't post pics that show more than a handful of plants at a time.
And I don't post clear pics of myself.
I don't talk about commercial scale operations (I'm a hobby grower on a small scale) and never discuss smuggling or dealing.
I assume the Feds have far bigger fish to fry than lil' ol me.

I reckon if somehow you let the connection be made between your username etc & real life. And then if the police already wanted you & wanted to prove you were into it for a longer time than you were stating in court etc.. if they could they would. I would be pretty sure a site like this IS on the radar of the law & the easiest way for them to use data from a site like this is to use a robot crawler to harvest the website searching for certain strings, IP's & seperately identifyable domains.
If workers can be caught watching porn because a piece of software can identify pictures with 75% or more skin tones then this site could be crawled using several rulesets.
I don't post pics of myself or enough to even identify a room but I'm not overly worried about it. The site owner could tell from there stats package how many robot other's crawl the site or if the CIA/FBI is listed as a visiting domain. Ive seen there domain on many more innocent type sites than this.

IF the 'bad guys' want our identities, it is quite EASY ... takes only seconds for them to obtain your IP address, and identity ... I know you're already thinking, "you're 'OK' if you use a rotating IP proxy" ... nope, those just take a minute or so longer ... :wtf: ... I'm not saying you need to be paranoid, I'm only explaining that we are already 'exposed', it only requires the wrong people to pursue the process ... myself, I'm too old to live in fear ... :smokin:

The internet was basically designed by the government, DARPA.
Reaper is right, as soon as you connect to the web you start leaving an electronic "paper-trail," with everywhere you go, and everything you do. There's no use in trying to conceal yourself on the net from law enforcement, as all they have to do is get that warrant. :(

Well, on the point about internet anonymity, it is to be found. If you are only worried about law enforcement (or anyone else) tracking you down in real life, you should be browsing anonymously. Look up tor and privoxy and get the setup on your computer. You can browse, post images, download, etc., all while be routed through multiple IP addresses (making it much more difficult to trace you). So for those of you who are worried, download it.
On the point about pictures, I post every now and then. I do not grow pot now and have not grown for many, many years. I have a friend that grows and so I post pics of what he's doing. Since I do not grow, I'm not worried about law enforcement because I have nothing to hide. I have never posted a picture of my face because I do not want to be associated with them due to legalities; however, even if marijuana was legal to grow, I still would not put my face in pictures.

On a side note, pertaining to pictures, do not post pictures of your fingerprints or high-resolution images where fingerprints might be seen. Many people have speculated about law enforcement agencies being able to pull fingerprints from pictures and let me tell you, it's possible.
I do not know if any agencies are currently using the technology, but it exists. The worst part about it though, is that no new technology is needed to read them! I took some high-resolution pictures of both my finger tips (including fingerprint) and a piece of glass that had my visible fingerprint on it. I gave these pictures to my friend who works at the local police department and he took them to his friend in the forensics department. They were able to pull a full, viable fingerprint from the picture of my finger tip, and about 80% (due to the angle) of my fingerprint from the picture of my print on the glass. From both pictures, they were able to match my to my fingerprints filed for my concealed weapons permit.
So, the moral of the story? Don't post high-resolution pictures of your fingerprints and/or items with fingerprints on them if you don't want those identifiable items out there.

History of the Internet
I guess what I was trying to point out is that the government has plenty (the most) knowledge and control of the internet/IP system. It would be foolish not to think they have the ability to do what they want, when they want, and how they want on the internet/web.
*I'm no computer/internet expert by any means at all.*
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
Well more so than just worry about the feds(which exactly, they have bigger fish to fry..).
...but maybe more on the levels that someone in your local area would find out and want to fuck you.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?
Because you're right...it would be easy to find me from the internet...
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
I might talk about growing and all that jazz but my grow isn't when I post, nor even close to where I post. So if the bad guys want to come and get me, 1. i'm very small scale, and 2. there isn't anything here to hide!!!
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
i havnt read allof the post's feedback but i wouldnt do it due to its kinda dumb unless ur in the dam and even then just not a good idea
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
ANYONE WITH THIME ON THERE HANDS CAN FIND A LOT OF INFO QUICK BY SEARCHING YOUR USERNAME, COME UP WITH OTHER FORUMS/MYSPAE + A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THERE STATE LISTED,AND CAN COME TO FIND A LOT OF INFO
THATS WHY I COPY SOMONES USERNAME I SEE ON A DIFF FORUM SO IT WILL GO BACK TO SOMONE ELSE (IF SOMONE WAS TO SEARCH)
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
Getting the IP adress details and hostname etc.. can be easy however as I say it would really be about connecting that to you. If its your home IP & the law have a warrant then your ASP account details are a request away. So if some local person that doesn't like you see's your pic or prints and can connect the dots you could have made a mistake in posting them.
Totally agree on the prints Gainesville having a digital image just saves them scanning the old paper format or actually sticking a hand on the new scanner type machines. There is ways to create some anonymity such as proxies already mentioned, anonomous service providers where everyone uses the same generic user details & also using a throw away pay as you go mobile. However these cost money and in general somebody that panicked isn't being watched by the feds for posting cannabis pictures. Basically any web users privacy is at the behest of the service provider whether that is this site owner or your ISP keep within the terms of using the service and generally they will keep your data as safe as there terms of service specifies however more governments are seeking rights over internet data such as the UK's attempts to make it legal for them to intercept or read any email through any publc ISP email system without the need for a warrant. There is always the diminishing cost of return & I imagine most local police forces get enough of a supply of information from local villians informing on each other. However that doesn't stop other agenciespull out data they want. A good supply of targets for busted grow ops are hydro shops customer mailing lists. If they could hack the user details here from the backend database they would probably use any details on that they could. Also as I said this sites data could be harvested quite easily with robots. There is probably upward of dozens of spammer robots harvesting the site alone for anything that looks lke an e-mail address.
BTW
DARPA = Internet
Tim Berners Lee = The world wide web

Interesting story, I'm kinda glad I'm a bit of an antisocial mofo who would never join something like facebook or myspazz (sorry) myspace. :)
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
Like stinky said, I really don't think they are going to come after people like me for growing 10 plants in my basement for personal use and no prior record of anything, but if they do, so be it. I'm pretty sure they have better shit to do though. The pigs recently busted a huge multi property commercial grow in my area, so there are a hell of a lot bigger fish than me and my ten personal plants in this pond.
I don't think I've ever posted my picture on this site for obvious reasons, and I've never taken a picture of more than the area where my plants are, ie. not the location or what the room looks like from the outside, just to be safe.
In the age of the Patriot Act, any internet activity is risky, but I like to think that karma is on my side!
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
I don't post pics of myself, more because of a stalking problem I have with an ex than federal or state law enforcement.
If you use the right keyword, searching my username will reveal the one other place I upload canna pics. Searching just the username brings up nothing related to me in the first 20 pages.
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
I would never grow under this username..
Tal, you couldn't under yours..I dont even have to search and I remember what your face looks like, the state you live in and what kind of job you do..so like me, you have posted wAAAy to much info under your current username..haha
Question-sorry if you have been asked a million times.
Well it's really not the legal aspect I am worried about, as I am completly legal. The only thing I would worry about is some freak from this message board hunting me down and screwing me over.
That is the only sketch thing.
The law already knows I can legally grow marijuana in my state....
....and, like I said before, and many of you said; if someone wanted to find me, it would be easy.
Too bad it has to be like that, because I would really like to share some things with you all. Maybe another time...
