Private Medical Marijuana section

I'm not sure how many actual medical marijuana patients use this forum, but I'm really thinking the section made for discussing co-ops should be kept private. Obviously there is no way to prove someone is an actual medical patient, but at the least keeping it private and kicking out people that make it obvious they are not a legal patient would be beneficial for that forum.

I also think only co-ops registered to this forum should be allowed to be discussed, otherwise you are endangering a co-op without their consent. Some places like to stay low, we should respect that! I love discussing marijuana for medical reasons, but talking about specific co-ops without their knowledge is increasing their chances of being raided. Yes, any medical marijuana co-op can be found through other means, but giving them an unwanted advertisement is giving them attention they didn't ask for, and may not have wanted. Like respecting an individual medical patients privacy, we should do the same for those bringing medicine to patients in medical marijuana states.

Attention isn't exactly the best thing when you are riding a legal grey line/are at the risk of being raided by DEA goons.

I sure as hell wouldn't want my medical cannabis dispensary receiving any unneeded attention.

You could set it up like the Feedback forum, at the least, private to guests.

we do not allow unsolicited and junk advertising and under the global rules, there is no posting of email addresses, or anything of the like and/or any advertising.

for those co-ops who are registered, they have full control over the privacy levels of their profile page which contains all their relevant info.
we will be censoring addresses/other location relevant info in the forums and will not be allowing this in the forum areas.

But we will be implementing further controls to keep certain areas only to registered users /groups for the forum areas

That's good to hear, but I think the name of the co-op, or any shortening of their name should also be censored because cops aren't stupid. If we know the shorthand way to name a certain co-op so will any government agency, assuming they can't figure it out would be naive and just as dangerous as posting their addresses.

I think it was originally something else, then they split it up and made some slight changes to make it a little more directed towards medical users...I forget exactly how it used to be, but I like the direction it is moving towards. Not a very popular section, seems like most people are just curious and asking questions which I like, but it would be nice to have a private patient only section ;) Hopefully we can get more patients to visit though.

There are already a lot of us here.;) Twenty percent of U.S. states have some form of legal medical marijuana.
And just because there are no medical marijuana laws in some parts of the world, doesn't mean people in those areas aren't using cannabis as medicine.
This is a heroic step forward, and 'the management' should be applauded for it, not whined at for taking away someones favorite toy.
I for one do applaud this new direction, and I'm looking forward to the future of cannabis.com a lot more optimistically and hopefully than some.
I am part of a large community of legal cannabis patients and caregivers, so I know exactly how fun it can be!

I'm not sure who is whining about the new medical marijuana sections, or what was taken away in the process, I am only suggesting making some parts more restricted and monitored for the protection of the co-ops providing our medicine. But I am with you, I think the new sections rock and hope to see more patients join and enter into discussions on these new sections :stoned:

I've actually only seen a few people complain about 'all the fun parts' being removed from cannabis.com. I didn't mean you.
What I meant was, this isn't a site for kids anymore. There are plenty of those out there.
This also isn't an 'adult site' even though it is a site for adults (thank god there really is a difference).
It's becoming a respectable site about responsible cannabis use, for responsible, respectable, and respectful cannabis users.

Hey I know first hand experience, the feds, DEA will obtain MMJ Recs and use them to gather evidence, they also registered on another site (WT) and probably still use it to this date. I think that it would be silly to assume that they are not doing the same here, and have often wondered how it could be stopped. I don't think that it can be stopped. I love the idea, and if there is a way to make it more secure great, but I don't know how you will do that? The pin head prosecutor in the Naulls case during the indictment made a huge deal out of the fact that agents that obtained recs under false pretenses were able to buy MMJ at Healing Nations. They are using those undercover buys as evidence against Ronnie now. I have always wondered about security on this site, and it has made me hesitant to post any grow logs. I wouldn't put anything past the P.O.S DEA.

All more reasons to take this more seriously.
If this site is full of juvenile jibberish, the real important information (ie. the truth about cannabis) can be ignored, and the feds can continue to pretend we're just a bunch of kids using dope.

Agreed, I just don't understand how to make it accesible to those that are legit MMJ patients, and at the same time restrict it. Like I said, the feds WILL get recs just for the sole purpose of posing as patients to gather info. I am also concerned about the grow logs, lots of incriminating stuff there.

It's not really about keeping the feds out, although that would be nice.
It's about what they see if/when they do gain unauthorized access.
If we're legit, then they'll only look bad for harassing us.

About 80% in the US are for medical marijuana.
The DEA are losing worldwide respect because of their continued harassment of California patients, especially after 911.

You are absolutely right, but again, they could loose the respect of every single man woman and child in the world, doesn't mean squat! They still have their agenda and will still do whatever they want. We don't vote in people to the DEA, not to mention the fact that about 25% of our eligible population votes to begin with. And although support is high for MMJ, out of the "80%" that do support it, what percentage of them are actively involved? I will just guess, um........nil. And what % are here at cannabis.com? It just does not matter what you or me or anyone else thinks, we do not set policy for the DEA, the federal government does, I guess? At this point they are almost like a gustapo type organization. Until congress steps in, or until marijuana is reschedueled nothing will stop the juggernaut DEA. Believe me when I tell you, they do not give a crap what anyone thinks, what people think does not impact their actions!
