Pot smoke more harmful than cigarette smoke???

So, I am hangin out here on another boring week night with the television on at the other side of the room. And the show on was "The Hour with George Strombalopalis", while he is talking about random bits of news he says "Attention Pot Smokers.....". So I glance over. George says "looks like your infamous plant isn't so great anymore, a recent study by the Canadian Government shows marijuana smoke to be more harmful than cigarette smoke. Precisley twenty times more harmful with more ammonia which is an active agent in causing cancer." I am not sure what to think now.... Is it an actual study or was it something twisted and used as propaganda that can be used as proof when Canadians try to legalize weed? For example the government could say "Well according to an official study marijuana smoke is twenty times more lethal than cigarette smoke so there is no way we will legalize it." I always feel good about smoking pot and what it does to my body but I am confused now. What is everyones opinion on this?

Nobody has ever died from cancer? And 420... you can prove that mj has never caused cancer or any other health problems that people have died from?

And another study says there is information that it does which is why this person posted in the first place. ......I would think that dragging smoke into your lungs ALOT would be much more likely to cause lung problems.....I'm NOT talking about marijuana overdose here.....but other health problems caused by SMOKING pot. Do you know what I REALLY dont understand about a lot of you guys and among others is when someone mentions the negative effects on marijuana you guys automatically assume that its fake and that its some government propaganda. Do you guys honestly think that marijuana is completely harmless? lol. I just posted that link showing that no matter what the argument, there's going to be some study arguing for the different side. Obviously inhaling smoke in your lungs is not good for you, but I don't think that smoking marijuana responsibly will cause lung cancer considering marijuana smokers smoke considerably less than cigarette smokers. Cigarette smokers are inhaling a lot more smoke into their lungs each day and often in a row than MOST marijuana smokers. Obviously there are exceptions.

Cannabis has been proven to help with many illnesses and it has saved peoples lives, ive never heard of someone being helped at all by smoking cigarettes. Im not going to deny that it is unhealthy but there is no way that its less healthy than cigarettes, even if cannabis has singlehandedly killed people, which i do not believe, it must be a very small number of people or else there would be some sort of statistic to show this. Has anyone ever heard what the opinion of legal medical users in Canada is about that Government grown pot? Trash is about the kindest thing I've heard! It is a lower potency strain, grown in a mine, for goodness sake, with chemical ferts and never flushed. It is stemmy and poor quality- so it doesn't surprise me that they got the results they did! Now if that had been some of our local California grass, it might have given quite different results!

And about the test itself- were the cigarettes the same size or weight? Tobacco companies "fluff" the tobacco by freeze-drying it, so they can use a tiny bit less in each cigarette. A joint and a cigarette of the same volume will not have the same weight! What strain of cannabis? Was the pot full of seeds and stems? Seeds are so oily that they must be giving off some "interesting" products of combustion.

I've done many many researches and posted links on a few things. I never once said that marijuana can kill you directly but the chemicals that it contains has higher concentration of tars and carcinogens. Even people that dont have any lung disorder or diseases can get lung infections such as bronchitis IF YOU SMOKE IT!!!!!!!! If you guys really like cannabis and want to avoid any problems with your lungs just use a vaporizer or make baked goods....

Thats all I have to say about it.

Now, if this is true, which i'm skeptical about, then surely the lethalness would be a lot more deadly then the current situation. How many people die from cigarettes a year and how many cannabis? That's all i have to say. Are they implying that by smoking this 'lethal' cannabis i'm going to die? Or catch lung cancer more often then a cigarette smoker, because neither are true. It's all fucking bollox, believe what you want, i know government propaganda bullshit when i see it. as far as marijuana goes you put cigerette in your joint anyways theres no filter so i would say that is IS more harmful for you i agree with reefer 20 x i dont know but i would say that its more harmful for you but doctors would never diagnose someone with cancer for smoking weed its smoke in general - DOES ANYONE SMOKE JOINTS PURE i would say NO and that means its the cigerette as well who knows hey?

Actually a lot of people only smoke it pure, like LIP and myself and many many more. A lot of people in England do mix it with baccy and that's the only way they know, or at least choose to use. Cannabis is a lot safer smoked pure. I'll ONLY smoke it mixed with friends...

smoking pure joints maybe more safe obviously without the cigerette but
1. use more weed (not a bad thing)
2. does it burn as well

tried to think of more but couldnt neways it must be very smooth to smoke but i feel mixing gives it a bit more of a contrast.

but does it really matter if you dont use any cigerette coz it all comes down to the filter no filters in joints so more shit gets in your lungs. I know that there are a lot of less harmful chemicals
in a joint but a filter does filter the shit out so doesnt that mean less shit = less harm

It's funny coz i don't smoke joints by myself, i only smoke bongs or pipes. I dont have to use as much weed as a joint needs to get high alone. Having said that, joints do burn as well if they're pure, it's all in how it's rolled, not too loose, not too tight, practise makes perfect. Personally for me, i just hate tobacco and i find that if i inhale too much of it i feel sick. I'm not gonna tell people what to do or not do, because it's up to them to fulfil their own happiness, only the individual knows best in that respect. I'm just gonna keep on smokin it pure, i love one 'drug' and her name is Mary Jane. Keep on burning, Peace.

I know what you mean there. Well to many people we look at cannabis and tobacco waaay differently. Sure cigs have a filter but i dont see how that could be any argument for being less carcinogenic than cannabis smoke.

They throw in so much processed chemicals with the nicotine and what-not in ciggarettes while weed is just organically(hopefully) grown.
Those chemicals are what i believe causes the cancer, because i mean some people have to smoke over a pack a day for 10-30+ years to get cancer. With weed like some are saying you dont consume as much daily, and it is all raw not mixed with the companies bullshit chemicals.

I like to read Webmds articles on cannabis because i know they arent going to be thrown with pro-pot propaganda. And they have articles on both this latest canadian study AND the Pot-smoking-not linked with lung cancer, as well as the pot-kills-cancer tumors one.
Canada is totally against medical marijuana so i believe their study is skewed possibly.

i'm not a purist as you now know, i do agree with what you say about tobacco ruining the flavour, very easy to still retain flavour by only using a tiny amount of cigerette (burns better also)

obviously using too much cigerette and not enough weed will ruin the joint, but you can get just as high mixing your zut - absofuckingloutly :stoned:

I too saw this commerical with George Strombolpejdl...something.

It was no more than a 30 second blurb that really didn't dive into much detail about these new facts.

I prefer to draw my own conclusions.

I used to be a tobacco smoker, a pack a day smoker for a good 8 years. Not a long term smoker, but quitting was still one the hardest things I have done. When I smoked, I felt like shit. Pure and simple.

When I smoke cannabis, I don't feel like shit. I don't cough up brown pieces of lung butter anymore.

I just weighed the pros and cons I guess. I just see more studies of people getting cancer from smoking. Not once have I heard of anymore getting cancer from cannabis lungs only. Until I hear about it or see it, then I will start to believe it.

Perhaps cannabis does have harmful toxins like tobacco, but whatever is giving people cancer, is in tobacco and not the cannabis.

Tobacco pisses me off. Here they are doing studies on how cannabis is bad for you, yet 200,000 in Canada alone, close to a million in the US, die from tobacco every year. :wtf:
