depression, chronic pain, and two subjects of approach: advice please

Soooo.... My health has all gone to hell.

1. My depression has reached all new levels. I can't get the energy to do anything any more, I can't talk to what little friends I have left, I can't conjure up the mental energy to participate here on the boards these days, I keep getting repetetive fantasies about different suicide methods. Sometimes my own mind frightenes me because occasionally, I take those suicidal thoughts much too seriously.
I got myself scheduled to see a psychiatrist, but with the wonders of all-socialized medicine I still have to wait another month yet before I get in.
Oh, and the social isolation was driving me to mental breakdown so I've decided to reject completely the notion of having friends or relationships. I know that doesn't sound healthy on the surface, but longing for what I now realized I'll never have just caused unecessary suffering.

2. Pain levels have reached all-new heights too. It's like the pain of being electrocuted, except not a sudden jolt, throughout every nerve in my body (especially my arms). Yesterday I sneezed and it sent such intense pain to my right arm that I was curled up on the floor clenching my teeth barely gritting through it.



That being said, I have two questions. I'd like to get better, start being successful again, and start participating here as I've done for the past 3 years. I really can't wait a month till I see the psychiatrist. I'm as "up" as is possible for me right now, enough to seek solutions. I'm afraid I might hit an extreme low in the near future and off myself, so I need to do something soon. No, you won't see any dramatic/emo "I'm going to end it all!!!" posts from me, it's really not my style.


So...

Question One:

About the pain. The doc's switched me to oxycontin but it's still not doing a very good job. I really wish I could use cannabis for it, but in the last year weed (for some reason) hugely increases the pain when I smoke it. I told this to my mom yesterday and she suggested we try cooking and eating it.
I know from some studies I've read that cannabinoids can strongly potentiate the antinociseptic effects of opioid analgesics, which got me thinking; when you eat cannabis it tends to provide more of a body high. One pain specialist I wrote suggested that the head high from cannabis, caused by a large dopamine release, may be responsible for the increase in pain because it causes a rapid dopamine reuptake. So maybe by eating it, I could surpass most of the head-high and only get the body effects and accompanying painkilling.

Does this sound like a viable theory? I don't want to jump on it right off the bat because I know eating cannabis, especially if I mismeasure it, can be pretty intense; and I don't want to be sent into unbearable 8-hour long pain.
So I have't smoked in about 3 months (except one time a week ago, same experience) and my tolerance should be pretty low. Anybody know how much cannabis I should use for a single low-moderate dose? I figure I'll cook it into a brownie or something.

Question 2:

Just wondering if anybody knows some good body detox methods. I was reading that body toxicity can be responsible for a lot of disease and aggrivation of disease. I've done little research so I can't vouch for the theory, but I figure it's worth a shot.

I think Gahndi said that Fasting is an Excellent form of detox for the body.That guy would fast for days.
As for Depression,That sucks,My doctors had me on Effexor.I have stopped taking it,since I began my Medical MJ,and I feel better.
I dont know much about Cooking MJ,I am still reading in the forms about diffrent recipes and stuff.I myself dont have much money to throw around ,I heard it takes more MJ to eat,than it would to smoke.
What about those Vaporiazers?......is that a no go too?

Gandalf ABSOLUTELY give it a try. Read through this thread and look at how many people who have tried it and remark on the pain killing properties.

Seriiously.....what have you got to lose by trying it? A couple grams of ganja?

I remember goiing through pretty much the same "what's the point?" part of depression too. Hang on.....although I know how tiring life can be with depression.

I've been using it for my depression the last few months. I haven't been as depressed. It's worth a shot. I'm on Lexapro, by the way, I don't know if you've tried that one yet. It works well with my anxiety but the suicidal thoughts are still there.

Um... guys I'm talking about cooking cannabis for the pain killing effects. Smoking weed makes me more depressed, more anxious, and in a lot more pain. God miss the good 'ol days... smoking weed as a nubie was like taking a ride on the most intense and psychadelic pleasure train.

I can't believe i was so dumb to forget the link to the caps. :wtf: Hope that works for you......I was surprised at how many people who tried it mentioned the pain killing part. Make sure to pop over to the thread after you've tried it and let everyone know if it helps you or doesn't. The more info....the better. ;)

I think for pain management and depression relief it really matters what strain is being used. I know for me the sativa strains seem to do a better job. But I haven't had a lot of luck with pain management with weed but I haven't tried the capsules.

your pain must be horrible if oc's arent helping, I would recommend telling the doctor that they arent helping at all and def. try the capsules as well.

Oh they work if I take 10mg per dose, twice a day. But the doc wanted to test the waters so he only gave me 5mg twice a day; hence I'm gonna ask to up it. Even then it still hurts, but it's manageable.

I'll try out those capsulse but I won't have a hookup for few weeks yet.
