Hey, its total again with another question. I looked on 1000bulbs.com and i saw that some hps lights wherent that costly( 400 watters) and i figured i might as well buy 1 400 watt HPS for 2 plants instead of a couple of red CFL spectrums? it would save me the space, the money, and the sockets if i just put one HPS in there... what is better for vege growth? Hps or fluoros? and is 400 watt HPS light enough for 2 flowering plants? ( like 11"-12") Thx, cheers

I have absolutely no idea, i just checked out Metal halide too, and hps, and fluros, im so confused, i dont know what to get for vegetation or what to get for flowering, all i know that i have to keep the tab under 120$... plz help me out
Personally, i'd buy a flood light, then rewire it so you can use it with your application. Its really easy. Take a look at http://www.e-conolight.com/ . Look under their HID Floods and look at the 400W one, pretty cheap. Im buying some lights from there and rewiring them. I currently have a few mercury vapor lights that i've rewired and thats what I use right now.
God i'm so confused, i dont know what to buy... HPS dont work good on growth dont it? and fluros do, but HPS better on flowering, but it costs like 150... plz someone help! I dont wanna mess around with any HID or MH stuff, and i dont want to rewire stuff, i just need to know how much would cost 2 cool blue fluros with 2 sockets approx. .. plz help cheers

look, Floros no good for growing Floros used on mother plants coz they make it grow slowly. metal helides used for Veg and flowering best for veg HPS used for veg and flowering BEST for flowering. pick Helide or HSP and they cost from £50 - £200 depends on what u want. happy growing...
I looked at most hps systems, but all of them have beetween 2000k-4000k only, ( thats not that good for growing) yeah and they will promote flowering in the long run, so maybe i should go with those... But i dont know if they will handicap the growing process? so thats like 100-400 bucks here, ill try to see whats out in the growing marts and the specialised stuff, thanks for the tips, i was losing my head, ima go take a smoke soon Cheers ^ ^

check out this site http://www.ezhydrokit.com/default.php?cPath=21 from EZhydrokit. they have some bulbs that are dual spectrum with blue and red for both veg and flower stages. in flourescent and hps. the hps one that is 400W is 55,000+ LUMENS

If you can afford it the 400 watt hps is the way to go, floro's work for seedlings/clones/mothers/ and growth, but not so well for flowering. A 400 watt hps will give you enough light for 9-10 plants. Later you could always buy the 400 watt mh [ i use this exact same set up 1-400 hps and 1-400 mh] you could then double the size of the grow and number of plants. switch the lights every few days so all the plants get both types of light,
giving you a nice sized 3x6 growing area.

Oh god, i was going somewhere to buy something with my mom when suddenly, she said that she knew a place where they sell indoor growing things... so we went to a nearby restaurant and stopped by the small shop... but unfortunately... it was closed! But the store look very very promising... guess what i saw through the glass display window.... ONE FUCKING HUGE ASS 1000WATT HPS BALLAST unloading its beautiful light on some fake display plants!! XD man that cheered me up, as i look through the entrance, i could see books about hydroponics and indoor growing and such, further down the hall i could see a hydroponic setup and many light kits... ill probably go this week, but im extremely anxious to go!!! Its friday and god im so excited i want to go saturday, but i cant, im working :S, and they close right after my working hours, this shop is the solution to all my lighting needs... on the front board sign it sayd" Organic Fertiliser, Organic soil, Hydroponics, Indoor Growth lighting..." and such and such... i just cant believe my luck, hopefully ill find something to put under my cabinet...
I got one question, can you put a hps ballast in a cabinet? or would the heat be too hot? i plan on putting a computer fan near it, but i think those huge ballasts have incorporated ventilation systems in them... Anyways, thx cheers

if you don't know wether it's a good idea to put 1000wHPS in a cabinet or not...chances are you should go with some fluorescents. ventilation, heat and just the fact that 1000wHPS is pretty overkill for a beginner. fuckyty fuck fuck fuck... well i found out the 400watt ballast cost... 270$... i can afford, but i have a few things i need to know... Will HPS with enhanced blue specktrum ( red main specktrum) will be ok on the seedlings? and i know it wont grow very very good, but will it grow fine? and how for should i put it from the initial seedlings? my dads the only problem now... dads always are... i dunno how i should ask him if i can put a plant growing system... me and my cousin want to fool him by saying that we are putting some bean plants and that we will grow some bean plants and some pot to not make it look suspicious, plz help... cheers

A:a 400 watt hps with enhanced blue spectrum is more than enough for seedlings.....what you need is a couple floros for the first two weeks from seed.....check my fotos in basic growing......i have posted my ladies' pics in week 5 from seed, week 4 in veg......they have been grown from the beginning under a 400 watt hps grolux.....
B:if you insist in trying to cheat your fathers' ability to detect marijuana plants, then try to grow tomatoes next to them

i agree... do you have a setup to where it will keep the odor from leaking out so you dad doesn't smell it? also if you TELL you dad you are growing beans, don't you think he might want to check it out sometime? is this in the same house as where he lives in? please make sure you checked all your angles. one of the first rules is to never tell anyone you are growing bud. you kind of told you dad that already that you are growing beans... he know there is something growing and what will you say when he wants to see it? and it is right around the harvesting time when you are so close to cutting and smoking?
just watch out as from what this thread looks like, you haven't thought all things through and your growing experience may be cut short if you underestimate your dad.

Lol i havent said anything to my dad yet, and yes ill tell him that im growing tomato plants, because i figure they look very similar to the plant... forgot to mention that my my dad at home is my stepdad, and he knows me for a few years so i dont think it will be much of a problem... im planning to grow in a big room downstairs, in the room there is like a closet in the wall, and there are shelves there and theres a door to the closet.. i figure i can somehow neutralise the odor of the plants with some scent candles and a fan with bounce on it and stuff... harvest will be easy.. 2 plants shoudnt take me that long to harvest, and hes always working, then ill just hang the branches in my closet and then just let them dry, im pretty sure he wont mind what i do, hes not the nosy kind of person imo, i could be wrong though...could i put seedlings under the hps though?> im trying to keep my price tag as low as possible already the hps and the ballast is gunna cost me quite a bit and i dont plan on spending another 30$ to for some fluros except if its really necessary.. im considering every angle of my approach... and yeah i hella wish i had an appartment with my cousin so we could grow some in a room, but that may be in a few years heh... at least ill have my ballast already bought! wont need another XD, thanks a lot guys... gimme your suggestions on the seedlings and light dist ^ ^ cheers

Like I said before, if you want to go cheap, i'd strongly suggest you buy the HID Flood lights and rewire it. Rewiring doesnt sound as hard as you think. Theres only 2 sets of wires (2 wires in each set) that you have to do, and just cut an extension cord, THAT SIMPLE! I just think its pointless to buy those premade units, and you could always go to your local army surplus store and buy an ammo can for less than $15 to put the ballast in.
I think the lady at the shop said something about HID lights... but dude, the ballast they sell IMO is really worth it.. for all its disadvantages , it makes up the price... firsly, the ballast is already made, so you do not need to tweak and fuck with it because it will take time and i have absolutely no dexterity in electronics, but my dad does ( fucking not gunna ask him, " ey dad.. can u help me wire this HID light?"" for what son?" " uhh, growing weed??" lol( you get my point)) + it has a really really nice reflector sheet that is really precicely mended and bounces all the light off and it concentrates it on the light... The balast also has little ventilation holes so i can put a fan to ventilate it if it overheads :)... im just 120$ short now... ( out of a total budget of 400$) ( omg, didnt realiser from how i expected to grow something for like 100... i quadrupled the amount...geess im crazy XD) well i dunno if my calculations are right... lets see

1 question... growing's like 2 months? ( under hps) flowering... 2 too? then full slow quality dry/manicure/ storage/ all the care shit.. that brings me to like a month or what? so i should be finished in 5 months total or what? so thats March-April-May-June- End of july i should be ready or what? can i shorten the time of that without compromising much of the finished product? and also... if i let the plants grow a heaftly height... lets see... fucking lost my measure tape but uh... a bushy 20" wide like uhh... 14 i guess... how much would it bring in if it was some good Indica/NL/ sativa/ common strain? just wondering ^ ^ well thanks for ur helps cheers

Dude, Dont waste your money on water, just use tap. Fill up some gallon jugs and let them sit for 24 hours without the cap on, that should take care of any chlorine. One less expense to worry about.
lol, not quite wise... I'd rather spend a bit of money on some fine glacier water then some chlorine, drug, and crap infested tap water ( yes sadly i drink it too, and most of you doo too) Imo, getting some good water with minerals from mountains, makes the task of soluting the fertiliser for the soil a easier task... I don't know yet what i should do about the water... The girl at the indoor growing store i went to sells H03 water... thats "Hard water", must be very growth enhancing, ill check next week when i go, i have 8 more days to get all my shit ready, then next week, my cousins coming over, we have to go buy everything, and i somehow have to get that 100$, my moms gunna lend me it i asked her, shes a bit short on cash because of her new buisness, but ill probably manage with the money, so it isnt much of a big deal... Now istill dont know how much should i expect for the fertiliser and the soil? 20$ i estimate no? fert may be a bit more? the girl at the store also sells organic worm castins, bat guano, some goood shit, i didndt check the price, ill check it when i go with my cousin eheh :),

well, i don't think you can find hps of 25 watts and Mh of 50 watts......i wish i could find some lights of this output but i don't think they exist......ok for HPS there are the following:70,150,250,400,600&1000 watters......for MH:250&400.....as for where you can get them go to your countrys' top net search engine and do some research using for keywords:HPS,MH,lights,buy online (in your native language) :)
HPS is what I live by
