I start all my seeds in dirt and weed out the males and use the dirt plants as mothers. I get near 100% success that way, it's real easy. Just keep them warm and moist (not wet). That's almost impossible to do with RW. You can use a Vermiculite/Perlite mixture, Rapid Rooters, a sponge, and I think stinky attic recommends bark plugs. Never tried them.
My last Vortex came with cord attached. If I could save $25 by getting a CanFan and attaching the cord, I would do that since it is so easy.
For seeds, check out these two places:
Buy Marijuana Seeds and cannabis seeds from Holland - high quality marijuana seeds (cannabis seeds)
Marijuana Seeds (cannabis, pot) shipped worldwide
Both are good, the second one is more expensive, but they have a bigger selection, and even more important, I've never had a problem with them. I do want to try the first one next time, if there is one. Their site impressed me a little. I wouldn't waste money on fem seeds since gender is determined soley by genetics. Notice how it's kinda the same word? Fem seeds are a bunch of hype. You can expect 60 or 70% female from non feminized seeds. People get that when they order fem seeds and go, "see, fem seeds really do work" when its the same for non fem seeds. Power plant for the high yielder, Daddy's Girl, Blue Berry, Northern lights, Northern bright, Haze, G-13 x Haze, all make real nice smokes, and of course you cannot go wrong with the ever popular White Widow, or White Widow crossed with something else good. If you by crosses, they will cost less and you will get the best of two worlds.
The room will get pretty hot if you have a sog going and have both of the 600W lights going at the same time. Not so bad if you are doing the whole grow with one light at a time. That would be perfect for the 4" inline fan, but I don't know if there are 4" cool tubes, so you would need to get two 6 to 4" reducers, or build something yourself for reducing. If you are running both lights at the same time, I should think that a 6" inline would do the trick nicely. High output. Always high output on either the 4 or 6". A little more money and worth every penny.
