Drilling very thin glass

I found a Volumetric Flask. It's glass and its about 1.5 feet tall.
The glass is very thin and Im wondering if i use a diamond bit drill and go slowly as well as wetting the glass with water will it crack?

i have a bunch of vases just like that ive always wanted to make a bong out of one

well i tried the same thing, i started off slow and started seeing a little progress after a little bit, but stupidly i tried the push hard to hurry the process up and the glass broke. So just take your time and eventually you should have clean hole.

it all depends on the percision of the bit and how steady you are.

im not 100% sure, but im thinking that if you put some of that browish tape over where youll cut it may help hold the glass together for some support. thats what they do with windows in cuba where theres lots of wind of the ocean. they make a taped x acros the window and it helps to stop it from cracking (or at least from a full-on shatter) covering the entire area with hot glue gun will achieve the same thing imaging and give you a big thicer substance to align with. (just an idea-ive never tried)

try with another piece of thin glass around the house.

youll be fine have at it, if you realy wana go all out, put a glass on glass joint on it, not to hard to do since you got the body all ready.

FUCK. It broke. The drill kept sliding because of the water... Anyways, it was too fragile in the first place to use. It would break even if you just bump into a wall with it or something.
But I made a SoBe bong instead and works great.

The best way is with a high speed rotary tool. And cover the area with a peice of masking tape. Or you could always try to torch it.

ok to help keep bit from sliding use the bit to make a X or start making a hole with your fingers and the bit...and if you start off dry at a very slow speed till it stops sliding its easier just before you start using water let it sit for a sec just to be sure theres no heat before u add the cool water

yeah you tried, besides its just glass but its was cool. It probly was too thin

Most will start the hole with a dremel with a carbide stone in it, then carefully enlarge the hole as needed.
