Oh man its 5:30 am and I just got back from shopping. I got everything I wanted at the mall, and saw two people get trampled, plus fought with two guys over a psp (it was the last one). I only won it after knocking down an old lady and blaming it on the other guys. I love xmas, but feel sorry for those dumb lame people who slept there all night to get in first. I got up at 3 a.m. and was the 75th in. Now all I need is a few more credit cards.
My xmas tree grows its own decorations.
Lol I wanted to go out for that but I thought abut it long and hard and decided to go to work instead. Congrats to each his on as they say and I hope the trail of carnage and blood shed gets cleaned up before noon. Wow I bet it was a battle field out there, well happy belated T day everyone off to finish up some filing.
Whats black friday?
It's the term that's used for the Friday following Thanksgiving, Buddy, the much-ballyhooed most busy shopping day of the year. I think it gets its name from it being the shopping day the supposedly puts retailers in the black (as in black ink for profits as opposed to red ink for losses). This season retailers are very frightened about today's profits. Normally a good Black Friday signals a good holiday shopping season. The mortgage lending crisis in this country, though, combined with gas/seasonal oil prices and a fair degree of political uncertainty, are threatening to tip us over the edge into an economic recession. That's why all the retailers were pushing Christmas this year practically before Halloween had even arrived.
Its the day after thanksgiving when stores start to see profits. Well, a long time ago they didnt start to see profits till the holidays, but now its money money money. Anyway, most store open early and have "doorbuster" rediculous sales. Sales that most people will camp outside of the store and fight over when they get inside sales. Seems the hot items this year were, GPS's, TVs as usual, Digital pic frames, and computers/laptops. I tried being one of those people that shows up when the store opens but it didnt work out for me. The lines were pretty much wrapped around an hour before(walmart, target, kmart, sears, cicuit city, best buy, radio shack, comp USA) And they started this thing where they hand out vouchers for the item that you want, they have equal number of vouchers to the item thats on sale, and you need the voucher to buy the item. So some lady in the front of the line gets the voucher for the laptop i wanted to buy. What does she do? She walks down the line trying to sell the voucher for $25 cause she "didnt need it". I told her to shove it up her ass, her husband didnt appreciate it, but I needed to say that. Earlier that day I had been to compusa and was thinking about buying a GPS which I took a voucher for since I was pretty close to the door. I decided not to buy it and gave it to some guy, no questions asked. The result of my trek that started at 11pm last night to 8am today...absolutely nothing...but I still have money in my account, thats what matters.

Unless I go late at night after the bulk of the people are home in bed. . . .

i went shopping like crazy on black friday. i went to my local walmart at 4:30 , 30 minutes before it opened. there was a long ass line, but when they opened the door , everyone stormed in. so ther was almost no reason for the line, i was pretty much one of the first people there and i didn't wait in lines for hours. once i got in there it was like a warzone everyone is running to the electronic section for all the nice deals. all i wanted for black friday was nice laptop that marked down very cheap. once i got to the electronic section it was packed, it was like a maze trying to get to my destination. but i still got my laptop(it was one of the last ones).
and i am using the laptop that i got to type you all this message.

boy was I wrong... there were people everywhere! I kept wondering what was going on until I thought about black friday..
Then at some point I had to pull over and get rid of the excess alcohol that was in my stomach, right in front of a bunch of people. when I was done, I looked up with a huge smile and gave them a thumbs up!
I have done this for the past few years, and although it is not the most enjoyable thing, I do it for the sales. I do work 3rd shift though, so I am used to being up all night.
I left my house @ 3:15am, got to Toys R Us @ 3:50, line wasn't too bad at that point, stayed in line till 5am(they had the police out there, for the people who like to crowd around the door area, and think they are just going to go in the store when they open the door and bypass the line), got in, got my stuff, back out to the car at 5:25, drove across to K-Mart, since they opened @ 6, and stayed out in line there about 30min. I was out of K-Mart by 6:20, and then I went to the mall and finished up there. I was back home by 9, so I did well, and now I only have a few additional items to buy.
lol i know the deals are real good, but i just can't be one othe people fighting over the last tv or something.. i hate shopping as it is ;)
Its all about waiting in line. Thats the part that kills me. Its freezing cold 1 hour before the store opens and im about a mile from the door anyway. Get inside, wow now im sweating my ass off because of the heavy jacket...oh and guess what...gotta wait in line for hours to check out also.
Who goes shopping at 3am? :p You crazy people can shop during tweaker hours, but I'll just suffer and go on the weekend.
I was at one of the malls yesterday and it was damn busy. I haven't even started shopping yet, and I fear Wal-Mart. I have to go sometime though.

I have worked retail for a long time. I avoid the mall, except for work, from Black Friday until January 15th.
While it is a big day for sales, it's totally not worth it. I understand if people are really into making it an event or whatever (like the State Fair or Renaissance Festival or any other thing where you go and fight with crowds all day) but for the shopping itself it kind of sucks. It's not worth the long lines and the fisticuffs over parking spaces.
Additionally, all the employees are busy and frazzled and tired, and the customer service sucks.
I'm allll about shopping early (October) or making homemade gifts.
But hey.... whatever makes you happy, makes me happy.

I had been drinking since around noon, Thanksgiving day. People had been lining up around the Best Buy in Fayetteville since 9:30AM the same day. My family and I (Including my little brother back from Germany, before going to Iraq :( ) passed by sometime in the early afternoon.. There were over a hundred people already, at least 8 dome tents, 6 of those 12x12 tent pavillions, and two propane fires.
We picked up somebody from Alan's unit who came to Fayetteville as well, a good friend of his, and around midnight we decided to pass by the Best Buy to see how big the crowd had gotten. It. Had. Grown.
The parking lot was already full, and the line was even bigger. One of us younger bucks got the idea to cut to the front of the line and see how people reacted :D :D So we post up at the very front, and after about 20 seconds, this guy comes walking nonchallantly up, peeks in the window, and says "what time do they open.. 5:30?" As if he hadnt been there for 16 hours. I responded that I didnt know or care, and he said "What time did you guys get here to get such a great spot in line?"
"Just now," I said :D He tried to tell us that we couldnt do that, that people would get angry, and the shit just started spewing out of my mouth like liquor shits after a night of drinkin all three of the Wise Men.
A lynch mob of about 40 enormous rednecks immediately materialized around us, and thats when I began to get that evil gleam in my eye, and satanic grin. I was making remarks like "Its a good day for dying," and "Im fuckin starving, too, which one of you motherfuckers am I gonna cook and eat after ripping your throat out?" It was not very responsible, but thats what happens when I drink for 12 hours straight, and show up at a redneck mob with two trained killers at my back, and 9 years of repressed thoughts and actions of violence.
At one point, prime-candidate-for-death-redneck-number-one that looked like he just ate pre-subway Jared was telling us how we werent going to get in, me laughing in his face the whole time. I leaned in his ear and said "the funny thing is.... we arent even gonna buy anything." He matter-of-factly responded "I know yore not!!"
I laughed long and hard, making sure the joviality in my laughter was grinding away at his patience. Then I said (for everybody to hear) "It has nothing to do with you! We are only here to make fun of you fucks! HAHAHAHAHAHHAahahah!!! Holy fuck!! Are you fucking kidding me? I would eat you AND your children!"
I was paying special attention to him because I saw he kept reaching for something in his back pocket with his right hand.. I may have been drunk but not that drunk.. Ill be god-damned if a slob like him is gonna catch me off-guard. I was hoping his girlfriend would stop grabbing his arm, so that he could make his move and I could decimate his trachea. But no physicality took place, which, in retrospect was a good thing. Considering my little brother is a Military Police... Not trying to get him in trouble lol.
Eventually I was coerced by the more responsible two into leaving, and the rednecks shouted their "victory", and I laughed at them. We got back to the van, and I realized my mom wasnt with us.. she was still videotaping the people in line LMAO.
We got like 7 minutes of videotape.. unfortunately she was interviewing people in line, and managed to miss the best part lol.
The story even made it in the Fayetteville Observer yesterday lol.
AAhhhhhhh great times :D I just had to get the asshole outta my system while I was feelin randy :p
