just like someone did on ebay
Hell no
Hell no! I'd totally keep it for myself. If someone can just lose 40 grand then im sure they could afford it. Then I'd buy a pound of weed and smoke all day!
This is comparable to the question: "If someone gave you a massage, would you beat them up?"
I'd sit on the money, though.
It depends on the circumstances of how i found it. I can not accurately predict what i would do until i was actually in that position. I believe i would return the money.
Probably not.
No. I can say outright i wouldnt even concider giving to anyone else. I found it, so therfore it's mine.
im with lip , what type of totall idiot parents make there child hand in 40grand he just found........when that kid grows up he gonna hate his mum n dad when he has no money for ganja
Especially with the way things are going these days.Quote:

Not being sentimental here, but that 40 grand may be fuck all compared to what you may come across in the future. It pays to be honest :D
There was a time when I would have tried to give it back. With everything being the way
it is today I would use it to pay my heating bills this winter $3.25 a gallon sucks. Prices going up on everything and pay stagnant my morals are are affected by the economy.
yea i'd take it, thinking about it.
Depends who I believed the money to belong to (although I agree with the theory, "finder keepers, losers weepers"), if it was like from an old lady's handbag (fuck knows why an old lady would carry around 40k) then I'd be too riddled with guilt to keep it.
If it was from some business man who's got plenty more 40k's to worry about, I'd be like CHUH-CHING!
Yeah, I'd turn it in. I'd be hoping that as things worked out, I'd ultimately get it back if no one claimed it. But that much money out lost someplace might be key evidence in a felony crime of some kind or it might belong to someone who needed it far worse than I. I'd at least want to give investigators the time to look into where it came from and possibly give it back to the person it was stolen from, if that were the case.
Of course I would take it but now days there is so many set ups with finding money and bullshit around here you hear of cops setting out suitcases of money like in a wal mart parking lot and if people pick it up and run with it they arrest them they sit and watch.........cops are fucking dicks they do anything to get people even set them up.
I would totally keep that.. it shouldnt have been lost in the first place.. and i wouldnt expect no one to turn in my 40k if i had lost it...
I don't care where it came from, why it was there, or who left it. If i found it i'm heading straight fucking home to bathe in that shit.
Moderating
Roboscat, you might want to try your post again, only this time without calling everyone M-Fers. Even in jest or as an exclamation, that's unnecessary, discourteous, and low class.
this muney was ment to be a ps3 but that came insted on ebay so it was dirty muney geting washed or passed on, to the rong purson thow
I clearly meant no harm. I'll be much "higher class" from now on. :p
Thank you, Robo Scat. (I know you meant no harm! If I'd thought otherwise, you probably are smart enough to know I'd have approached the problem a bit differently.)
I appreciate everyone's efforts, when I see you make them, to reflect well on cannabis users and advocates as a civil, well-mannered, intelligent group of people. It's better for advertisers. Better for cannabis advocacy. Better for future members who might be basing their decisions on whether to join on what they see here. Better all around.
Put yourself in the shoes of the person that *LOST* that $40,000. That may be their entire lifes savings. It might be the money for somebody to keep from losing their home, it could be for *ANY* number of things. Either way, it probably represents somebody's lifes savings.
Would I turn it in??? hell yeah I would. I like being able to sleep at night.
As for those of you that would keep it, I really feel bad for your parents for the job they -didn't- do when they raised you.
I really think it depends on the situation. If I got 40grand on ebay instead of a ps3 I would keep it for sure. I would invest the whole sum into some nice mutual funds for my retirement. In 20 years that 40,000 would be around 250,000.
my parents raised me well but dude...im keeping the money.
finding that kind of cash would be too much of a blessing to pass up.
i would buy a pound of weed and then like a 5000 dollar gas card so i wouldnt have to worry about gas prices for awhile. the rest would be invested wisely.

I'd hand it in and hope that they were generous enough to give me 4 grand back.
First I'd wonder why in gods name someone was carrying around 40k in cash. I mean NO ONE uses cash these days, especially in those amounts. I'd take the money and do what the original owner of it should have done...put that stuff in the bank, then I'd go buy myself a few things I had been wanting ^^.
Anyone ever read "A Simple Plan"?
This reminds me of that book.
But damn I don't know what I would do. If I kept it I don't think I would sleep at night from the guilt. So then right now I just thought of something.
I would turn in half of it (20g) and keep the other half. Assuming no one would would go pick it up I get th 20g back. But then if someone did pick it up and proved the money was theirs I guess i would give back the rest.
This thread reminded me of Pedro Zapeta:
Back to Guatemala, Sans $59,000
Two years ago, Zapeta was ready to return to Guatemala, so he carried a duffel bag filled with $59,000 -- all the cash he had scrimped and saved over the years -- to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
I'm not going to go into the immigration issue at all; because it doesn't have anything to do with the thread. Besides, it wouldn't "work"; if you returned the money they'd take it from him anyway. Point being, I bring this up to present this as a hypothetical example of how you may have found $40,000.
What if Mr. Zapeta, a seemingly hard-working, innocent, humble man had somehow, accidentally left this bag next to you?...instead of the cash being apprehended by customs officials? What if Mr. Zapeta had a medical/mental condition that made him lose track of his bag? Then we're in the situation that the thread originally calls for......what do you do?
Personally, when I first saw the thread, I agreed with the majority:
WTF? Is that a question? TAKE IT!!!
Second thoughts bring feelings of guilt, and the questioning of morals......Some will continue to justify though: "How does one just lose $40k!? He deserves to lose it!"
One thing though: How many times have you lost something that you knew, and told yourself, not to lose? Car keys? Wallet? Cell phone? Plane ticket? Pink slip? Cash?
What if we were Mr. Zapeta? Just think about it. Is it really fair for the government to play "finders keepers" ?
Edit: Oh, and BTW, if I found 40k in a public place, no. I wouldn't touch that shit. Too many risks and possible scenarios. If I did, however, find 40k in some random ass place.....I'd keep it.

sad bunch of folks here.
Don't even care if it was money for someones health.
Ok let me addend onto this that if i saw some cry out on tv such as "that 40k was for my youngest childs liver transplant" or something to that extent, id return it in a snap.
nah fuck that:jointsmile:
I think the original topic was about a boy who was sent 40,000 cash over ebay when he thought he was getting a ps3.
ye man i wonder did he get the ps3 that he paid for
I do agree with you but it IS a fantasy question.Quote:

but now that i think of it, maybe it's someones cash from their house that someone stole. well, even still, it was probably a drug dealer since not a lot of "legit" people have 40 grand cash.
haha i don't know what i would do. the "right" thing would be to turn it in...
ye turn it in to weed
I would take a fee and return it. I would probably take like $10k and turn it into the police or something. Depends on the circumstances tho you know.
