Even if you can get your basic point across counts. no, not with grunts answer finger pointing lol, but a basic conversation. I speak spanish, it was my first tounge, english is my second, or was anyway hahaha and basic french. read, write, and speak all.

English is my mother tongue, but i can speak fluent Hebrew. I can also speak abit of dutch, but nothing good enough to call fluent.
I got a D in my French GCSE.
Can't actually speak it though, I got graded a F in the oral part and B's in the writing and listening.

Dutch is my language, but I learned also French and English in school. I can still have small conversations in French. And my English is okay I think.
English is my native tongue. Spanish a close second since my parents began us on a course of second-language Spanish study when we were toddlers. Then we lived in Spain for a time during my kindergarten-first grade school years and were immersed in it by going to Spanish schools. They made sure to speak both languages in our house, but I'm not as fluent as I wish I were in Espanol anymore because I don't get much occasion to practice it in depth.
I can speak, read, and write some very basic French, less and less every day. Again, not enough practice.
I can read Latin thanks to six years of study in it.
And then there's my amazing skill at Pig Latin. That's a tongue I really shine in.
Holland is mijn geboorteland. Ik spreek veel van het niet omdat ik nu in Canada leef.
I speak Dutch with my close family still, but not often. Only when my younger cousins are around and have no frickin clue what we're saying.
I've been in Canada for 10 years though now, and I learned both languages in Holland while living there. Both languages are used very often around there.
I never knew Holland was your native country, NoChowder, or Dutch your native tongue. You're so facile in English that I just naturally assumed you were a lifelong Canadian. I'm impressed!
Yes, it sure is. I learned both English and Dutch growing up in Holland. Plus when I was in college a few years back making up for lagging in high school, I learned SO much from my teacher and learned everything from proper grammer, spelling, and sentence structure. I was planning on becoming a writer at one point, so I've always been good at writing.Quote:

Just english know some spanish but would love to speak it fluently or french aswell as much as I hated the language in school.
Ik kan spreek een beetje nederlands ook, maar engels is mijn moeder taal. Het is een heel moeilijk taal om te leeren, de vooral grammatica. Er zijn alleen twee landen in de wereld waar dit taal is nuttig, Nederlands en Neerlands Antilles.

I got a grade B in french for GCSE, i got a D for AS amd i'm taking my A2 right now. So, i can understand a fair amount, i'm still progressing. I wanna learn Dutch when i move to the Netherlands, even though they speak English, i still think it would be cool.
English is my mother tongue and my best mark at school was in English, used to do Spanish but stopped and am going to pick it up again very soon with lessons/work experience in Spain (if i can get it)....remember some basics so i can get by e.g. Oiga camarero, una cerveza por favor! :D

LOL, I hope that came out right. It's been a while since I've used this language, and even though I took two years of French as I said, I have probably forgotten a lot of it simply because I don't use it on a regular basis. I was so disappointed, because I came down with pneumonia right before our class was to go on the coveted senior trip to France. I missed out on that unfortunately, but hope to be able to visit that country someday.

Dude Afrikaans is alot like dutch man, I get the basic idea when I read dutch.
I've lived basically half of my life in France and half of my life in the US, so I speak both fluently without noticeable accents. It's pretty cool and I hope it gets me somewhere in life. I'm getting a minor in French just because I don't want to lose the language.

I lived there for 12 years and I think the people are beyond cool and the country is awesome.
Being able to speak Dutch also makes it easy to understand a lot of what South Africans say too.
I can speak and read German too and my Spanish is pretty poor but I can just about manage a basic conversation.

English (mother tongue), fluent arabic, fluent polish, good chinese, some spanish and some bullshit.
fluent in english, polish, and can somewhat speak italian.

my highschool certificate says i am bilingual (french/english) but i havent even spoken a word of french for about 4 years now....
