how do you get hit by a train??
Cell Phones: Obviously MUCH More Dangerous than Previously Thought
Final Destination, anyone?
Cell Phones: Obviously MUCH More Dangerous than Previously Thought
I have to agree....how can you NOT notice a train 3 feet away????
Cell Phones: Obviously MUCH More Dangerous than Previously Thought
Its called natural selection. People that dumb deserve to die. I hope he did'nt have any kids. Daddy is dead because he is an IDIOT!
Cell Phones: Obviously MUCH More Dangerous than Previously Thought
There have been several young people that have been killed in my neck of the woods because of cell phones.... some were talking, most were texting.
How hard is it to use an ear bud for hands free?? How hard is it to pull over somewhere if you absolutely *HAVE TO* send text messages.
In my humble opinion, 95% of the folks with cell phones don't *NEED* them, they are just a toy. The only folks that I can honestly say that have a need for a cell phone are EMS, Police, Fire, *legitmate* service businesses, medical professionals, etc. where there the potential for the loss of life, limb, and or property.
How can a child in elementery, middle, or high schools justify a *NEED* for a cell phone?? Its nothing more than an expensive toy for them. Why does a housewife have to come out of the house, get into the car, DIAL A NUMBER ON THE CELL PHONE, then start the car and drive off?? WTF??? They couldn't make the call before they left??
In this neck of the woods, if somebody does something really stoopid on the road, they are either on the phone and not paying attention to what they are doing, or they have a little wheelchair on their license plate, or BOTH.

THANK YOU!!!!! Steve I could NOT agree more. It would be fine with me if they want to do this stupid crap like Dad here did......natural selection as Narf says. But when YOUR ignorance and completely narcisstic actions put me and MINE in danger.....
that's a different story completely and I DEFINITELY take that personally. :wtf:
Cell Phones: Obviously MUCH More Dangerous than Previously Thought
i remember back before we had cell phones or beepers. hell i remember when people didnt even have a computer in their house. i remember 8 tracks and when cassetes came out, playing records on the stereo. i remember the first house in my neighborhood to get cable and got a whopping 30 channels and had them little boxes to switch from A to B. we had to go outside to turn the tv antenna to get better reception. my uncle got one of the fist sattlite dishes and it was about 20 feet across. i remember getting our first microwave, it had a steel lining inside of it. but what i remember most of all is when you wanted to talk to someone you done it face to face. no text messages no chat rooms, the most woud be to call them up, on your rotary dial phone, to see if they were home and tell them your on the way over. speaking of phones i remember busy signals, no call waiting.
seems we survived a long time without what is the "staples" of american life now.
oh one other thing i remember when we got indoor plumbing. we had an outhouse till i was about 5 years old. anyone else ever get up in the middle of the night and have to go to the out house?

I agree with you. I don't understand why these 12 and 13 year olds need cellphones. They are just expensive toys, and they just get them to fit in, really. It's currently the fad for kids... to have a cellphone. I don't have one anymore, and when I did have one, I mostly used it for important things.
People can go and waste their money using cellphones the way that they do, I couldn't care less. But 12 and 13 year olds?? LOL.

if people or pretty much no one except cops had cell phones you might now have weed right now or you might already be dry but still....

FWIW, the *ONLY* reason I have a cell phone is because of my business. I am an HVAC Contractor. When I am not at the house or in the shop, I have the biz phone forwarded to the cell, so when a customer calls, they get a live, warm, breathing body instead of a machine or an answering service. They get the man that is going to cure their problem and make them comfortable again.
However.... at such time as I retire, close the business, or whatever so that I no longer have a need for a cell phone, I am going to take it down to the Gulf of Mexico and 1) see how far I can throw it, and 2) see if it floats.

Since i dont need a cell phone according to you. What would i do when im driving seomwhere and my car breaks down or i get a flat without a spare or my spare is flat. Why not have a cell phone. I personally dont have a house phone just a cell phone. House phones dont make sense cell phones do. Why have a phone somewhere where i am rarely it doesnt make sense your argument sucks steve. If you can prove to me my cell phone is hazordous to my health then i will agree with you but thats a different story.

Is your cell phone required for your *legitmate* service business?? Is your livelyhood dependant on a cell phone?? or is it required for the protection or, or immediate safety of life, limb, and or property??
Your argument about not having a spare tire or your spare is flat is pretty ignorant... that is part of regular vehicle maintenance, which in itself will prevent breakdowns.... and don't tell me that your too stoopid to check your gas guage.
Unless a phone is required for your living or the safety of others, then its only a convienience and a toy.
Your not having a house phone doesn't fly either... thats your own personal choice.
Cell phones being hazardous to your health?? yup... every time you have your cell phone to your ear or are sending text messages while driving.....absolutely hazardous to your health and the others on the road around you.
Think I am kidding?? go talk to the folks at your local police department, sheriffs department, or state troopers office and ask them...they can give you hard facts and figures about how many accidents are caused by idiots on cell phones or texting while they are driving.

Mississippi Steve thats probably one of the stupidest things I ever heard. Of course cell phones aren't necessary to survive, almost nothing we use today is absolutely necessary to survive. It does make life a hell of a lot easier though. And saying cell phones are hazardous to your health is retarded. Of course texting and calling people while your driving is dangerous. So? Then don't use it while driving this isn't rocket science. Also I think it's pretty funny how you have a personal vendetta against cell phones.

Thanx for validating my argument
I don't have a "vendetta" against cell phones, just stoopid people doing stoopid things....especially when they know its wrong, or against the law, and/or they unintentionally or otherwise put somebody else at risk.
No its not rocket science, its common sense.
BTW...Next time your on the road. count how many idiots are trying to drive with a cell phone stuck to their ear.
Cell Phones: Obviously MUCH More Dangerous than Previously Thought
i have never owned a cell nor do i plan on buying one

Thats funny because around here its an oddity anymore to see a cop in a car thats not on a cellphone I've see it personally on the way to work and it pisses me off. who are they talking to on my (taxpayers) time. I want to know. Kinda hard to protect and serve when you're looking at your dashboard.

thats nothing, cops here sit where ever they can get a wireless signal so they can sit online here. but i drive and text all the time. its not that hard to type without lookin at the key pad and the time i take to read a message is NO MORE time then you spend playin with your radio. i have yet to get in a wreck. then again i dont while im in traffic keep in mind my town has 1300 peope so not that busy

Here in Washington, its a fine if you using your cell phone while driving. Unless it is hands free.
Frickr, LOOKOUT FOR THAT NATURAL SELECTION!!!

definitely survival of the fittest... while sadly his weakness may of really just been momentarily (most likely not, but a moderate thought is better than radical)
that being said... cell phones are pretty useful... mass communications is an integral part of globalism and advancement... I know of several kids with an emergency phone, and that is cool by me... i understand the parental thinking...
of course there are extremes, that we all know of... but we also, all know that humans are innately flawed. I'm sure we have all left a zipper down or lost the keys. The problem is when you teach leaving it down.
