1st Attempt at Green Dragon... any got experience?

Yesterday I filled up an airplane bottle 1/4 the way up with some ground up, good quality bud. Then I filled the bottle to the 1/2 point with everclear (95% / 190 proof grain alcohol). So basically it is 2 to 1 everclear to weed. I figured I'd let that sit for a couple weeks, or if I want to do it earlier I'll heat the bottle in a water bath for 20 minutes or so, making sure the water never goes above 150 degrees.

Then I'll strain out the weed, mix in some sprite... and get blasted. Sound like a plan? Think I should fill the entire bottle up with everclear to dissolve more of the THC?

The thing is, I didn't want to big an effect from the alcohol, and an airplane bottle full of everclear might have a bit of an effect on me. Then again, I may not even drink the whole bottle... b/c that is a lot of weed for me in one session... especially given the efficiency of drinking it. I think I'd be more blazed then I can imagine. Maybe I'll just fill it up all the way and take a half at a time....

What the hell is an airplane bottle exactly? Either way it sounds like you got yourself a good little start. You can make it with just a sit ton of stems if you want, so using bud will be awesome. Ah Everclear....I've always wanted to make some Hairy Buff and throw in bud. Nothin' like bitin' into some pineapple and gettin' fucked up.

add some more everclear.
when i did this i used a pint, onces its dark green pour it into a glass cup or something and let it sit, the everclear will evaporate quite fast specialy if you put a fan blowing on it. (just a few hours)
so you can minimize the amout of alcohol in it without losing THC. great for when you wana get stoned but not drunk

also let all the everclear evaporate and your left with hash oil.
scrape it up and the possibilities are endless. add some to ur grass for extra potent shit. lace your joints with it. or add to butter and make brownies!

I think there is enough everclear in there.

What is an airplane bottle? Can you give amounts, like 1/4 oz bud and 4 oz everclear? That would give a better idea of what strength you are going to get out of it.

Another way to figure it out is to estimate how many times you could get high by smoking all the weed, then use that to figure out how many "doses" are in the bottle. Then divide the alcohol by the number of doses. So if you thought you could get high 10 times, and there was 10 ounces of alcohol, 1 dose is 1 ounce --- no problem drinking one ounce of alcohol mixed in a drink. If you thought you could get high only 4 times and there is 20 ounces of alcohol, then a dose is 5 ounces, and you would get way too drunk before you ever got high. In that case you would have to reduce it with heat or add more bud to bring up the THC, but it's better not to make it with that much alcohol to start with.

An airplane bottle is the smallest you can buy. Its those little bottles... like 1.5 to 2 oz. Yeah, so I guess I'll just fill the bottle up w/ the rest of the everclear.

The dude who did it still didnt posted since then... so, my advice is to follow Dragonrider's post, measure everything he said, and tell us the amount of bud you did use, how much times you would smoke with this amount of bud and such... so you can measure the right dose of green dragon for you.

Also, evaporating the alcohol from the green dragon is a good idea, but not always needed. Probably the amount of green dragon you will need to drink is not enough for making you drunk...
Just as a sidenote... If you evaporate some alcohol, as more concentrated it is, more ugly and bad tasting it will be when you mix with any drink. Coke becomes murky brown, lemon juice becomes murky green... and both looks like magic evil potions... and tastes very bitter... anyway, the high is very worth the taste! :stoned:

I'd say the amount of bud in the mixture is 4x what I would normally smoke to get baked out of my freakin' mind, and 8x what I would normally smoke just to get a little high. This weekend I'll probably add the rest of the everclear then boil it down a bit.

Part of me wants to just drink the entire thing one Saturday out in the woods and have an "experience". I'd probably get lost and end up on the news, perhaps not even in that order.

What I'll probably do is just take about 1/8th of the bottle in some soda one day and see what happens. My fear is that the body gets way more THC from this method (per amount of weed) then with smoking and I'll get way more fucked up then I intend. I may do 1/16th of the bottle the first time around just to be safe.

If I can get the dosing right, this stuff seems like it'd be perfect for those annoying long 3-4 hour car drives. That way you could take it, pack your bags and do all that shit, leave, and it should just be hitting you... and then would last during the drive. The secret would be to get the dosage right so you don't crash... but are just high enough to enjoy the music and the ride more then you would normally. I certainly won't try that the first time around!

I would go ahead and add the rest of the Everclear if the bottle is only 2 ounces or so.

If it is only 4x to 8x what you would usually smoke, then you are not dealling with a hugely out-of-control amount. I would probably try the 1/8 of the bottle that you thought of originally and put it in a soda like you said. Drink it on an empty stomach, and within an hour you will know if it is too much or to little.

Drinking or eating weed is actually often less efficient that smoking it, so sometimes you need a little more than you smoke. Also, there are some steps in the Definitleve Green Dragon recipe for decarboxylizing the weed to get the most out of it, and I don't think you did that, so it might be a little weaker than it could be. So I think your plan for 1/8 of the bottle will be parfectly safe, and you might find you actually need 1/4 or more.

The thing about smoking is that you can almost never get way WAY too baked. You might go furhter than you want, but usually your lungs will tell you to stop, and also it hits you fast enough that your brain tells you not to smoke any more. But when you drink it, you can get a lot more down your throat than you would ever smoke, and then there is no going back. That's why we were warning you.

If you want to speed up the extraction and not have to wait a couple of weeks, use the water bath method described in http://boards.cannabis.com/recipes/8...-combined.html.

Basically you would dump all the weed and everclear that you have in the bottle into a pyrex glass measuring cup. Start a saucepan with an inch or two of water boiling on the stove. Set your glass measuring cup in the water so that the boiling water heats the cup. Simmer for about 20 minutes to an hour. Pull out the measuring cup, and strain our the liquid. Press the weed into the strainer to squeeze out as much liquid as possible. You can add more everclear and do the extraction one more time if you want to be sure you get everything out of the weed. Usually some of the everclear boils out, so I add some more to bring the alcohol content back up, but not everyone thinks that is necessary. This measn your green dragon is ready in an hour or so, instead of weeks or months.

Well, I ended up simmering the everclear in a pyrex bowl in a water bath after a 2 week soak... just to maximize the extraction. I simmered it at about 140 degrees for 20 min. Most of the everclear evaporated. I filtered out the bud with a coffee filter. I'm left with at the most 1/4 fl. oz. of dark green liquid. I bet that shit is potent as hell.

As I removed all the weed to boil I realized how much I had actually put in. I'd say it is probably more like 8x what I would normally smoke to get very high. 16x what I'd normally smoke to just get a little buzzed.

I'm very tempted to go backpacking over winter break and just down it all. :-) It's impossible to OD, so what is the worst that can happen? I think I'll post in experiences to see if anyone else here has downed that much weed.

oh you'd be very suprised to find out there are actually worse things then dying.... like 'knowing' you're about to die and there's nothing you can do but lay there and ooze out puke now and then (it's not even heavy heaving type puking... kinda like those burps when liquid comes up.. only about 30x more liquid)

i can't quite tell the whole story as it'd just get deleted anyways... but trust me... just cuz you can't die from it, doesn't mean there's not a point you can pass where all you do is wish you'd never done it in the first place....

if i were you, and still planning on downing the whole thing (honestly, i have no idea of the strength... but if you're this cautious over an oz or two of liquid, i can imagine it must be pretty potent...) i'd stay my ass at home.. atleast the first time so you know what to expect and know whether or not going out is a good or bad idea.

Man... DONT drink all at once... try with a small dose... cause this green dragon can make you HIGH at low doses... after you were used to its effects (which can easily be overwelming), you can drink more of it...

I would definitely recommend you take a small dose and not the whole thing. You can get VERY uncomfortable when you are too high.

Also, do not go into unfamilar places and take large amounts of mind-altering substances that you have never tried before (do not go backpacking in the winter and drink a whole bottle of untried green dragon).

I also would not try it right before scuba diving, tightrope walking, or hanggliding. You don't want to be at an unusual distance from the surface of the earth when it kicks in. On your couch would be better.

EverClear will do you good. Good choice. Start off at a 1/4 of the dose you want to use. If a quarter wont do, take a 1/2. Keep moving up till you find your sweet spot. Wait at least 90 mins. between each dose. When you ingest cannabis you get alot more fucked up than smoking it. and the buzz is more sublime. Dont be that cop that made brownies and colud'nt handle the buzz.

I drank like just a few drops of it the first time... and not much happened. So then I drank the whole thing... and I got high, but not nearly as high as if I would've even smoked half the amount of weed it took to make the stuff, or even 1/4 of it. Not sure what was wrong. I mean, I soaked it in everclear for like 3 weeks *and* simmered it down for 20 minutes over heat. You'd think I would've extracted the hell out of the mixture. Guess not.

Maybe I'll try again sometime.

Man... its weird... it should have worked... what color the everclear was after you soaked the weed in it?

Jsn, did you "activate" the weed before the extraction --- bake it at 325 F for about 5 minutes? That is an important step to truly get the most effect out of green dragon.

The Everclear was deep emerald green after soaking it. Then I heated it for 20 minutes or so (evaporating 80% of the Everclear). After that the liquid was a very dark green. I honestly thought it was going to get me high like I've never been before because honestly, I don't think I've ever smoked near as much weed as I had in there. But like I said... the results were disappointing.

No, I did not activate the weed. I didn't think that was necessary b/c of a lot of the recipes I've seen only mention soaking it. I guess I should try that just to see.

Any reason you're saying 5 min. at 325 degrees? Have you tried both?

Well... both times work well... you can heat less (200 F) for a longer time (20 min), or you can heat more (325 F) for a shorter time (5min).
And maybe that was the reason the g.d. didnt work... does your bud is freshly harvested, or homegrown? Or it is dry and well-cured? It can make a LOT of difference... and thats why we always decarboxilate it before dissolving in the alcohol.
Also, do you still have the weed you soaked in the alcohol? If you have, you could dry it and smoke it, to verify if the THC actually was extracted from it. If you get high from it, it means the THC was not extracted.
And one last question... did you drink it with an empty stomach? Cause drinking/eating weed with a full stomach simply doesnt work.

Actually, I used the 200F for 20 mins method and I thought it worked great. After I posted my results, Master Wu tried 200F for 20 mins as an experiment, and he said he didn't think it worked as well as 325F for 5 mins. So I'm basically passing on his results without trying them myself firsthand. If you are more comfortable with 200F for 20 mins, try that --- it worked well for me.
