Growing a lowryder just to learn...
125w envirolite, DWC, IONIC grow soloutions..
Anyway, about 5 weeks into the grow... it's looking pretty poor.
What do the experts think?

berate you? It smells like a SKUNK in here! Is that you John?:)
looking good man keep it up.
Not bad, your PPM might be off- do you have a meter? If not I would slowly build up to the max of the nute recommendation in 1/4 increments. Also maybe start lsting if you want a low bushy plant.
Good Growing

Soil? What size container is holding the soil (or other media)?
it may seem short, but i guarentee its got more foliage than many plants 3X its height!
clearly loves the lighting
The PPM/EC whatever you want to call it probably is off, because thats the one peice of kit i don't have. Will it massively effect yeild?
To answer gaines question: I'm using Deep water culture, no soil. Plant in rockwool, in claypebbles in a small pot.... suspended in a reservoir of nutrient soloution, pump blowing air through the water 24/7 near the roots.
My reservoir is see-though, so had to cover it in bin bag to stop the roots getting light.
Better response than I expected from you guys, I thought my plant was looking really unhealthy, maybe im paranoid.
Yes it will, you could kill plants if you aren't careful. Check your roots also, but I think you have a ppm problem, like I suggested just scale down your feed and build up slowly.Quote:

Keep it up just pay attention as those lower leaves look like they are changing color.

yeah. any pics w/o the bulb on? its hard to tell how green/yellow things are under those
Heres a photo without the light on, tell me what you guys think.

Looking sexy hope for a female!
its doing fine, the small size is due to it being lowryder i guess. since it hasnt shown balls yet and lowryder goes right into flower from seed i guess that should be a female just in her last days before showing pubes and where flowering begins ... ( my amateur guess ).. you might want to get another light in there..somewhere
looks great. no nut deficiencies or burns, and plenty of foliage. itll grow a foot or more during flowering probly, so dont worry bout heigt
whats it likely to yield? I'd be happy with 15 grams
Yield is determined on Lights/ing, Nutes, etc.. It looks fine to me, my friend's lowryder is about that size and is only 4 weeks into veg. IMHO I would find a wider space, that looks a little narrow, and you can see the leaves resting against the back of your box. Otherwise it looks great, and hope for female.
I have read, and heard that when doing the 12/12 cycle, for 1 hour have your timer turn on the lights, and there is a better chance it will be Female.
What Nutes are you using?
One last thing, when its time to harvest, the "Wet Buds" Might way a lot, but guaranteed its going to weigh 75% less.
if you want 15g, youll hpefully be in for a nice surprise. assuming you veg it for another 2 weeks, youll probly pull just uner an oz (28g)
klondike It is a autoflower strain....its done when its doneQuote:

As for berating you, man that looks great for a first grow! Much better then my first grow looked at that age.
Only thing i could suggest (as i know jack crap about hydro growing) is going with a little LSTing so you can get that plant to bend towards the back of that stealth pc box and thereby using your space to its maxium.
Oh yea, if possible mind giving us a shot of the computer case all closed up and stuff? Im toying around with the idea of buildling a stealth computer box to put some clones in or start seedlings in before i move'em over my rubber maid box.
why are u guys putting lowryder on a dark period....they will bud with 24 hours with the lights on
uhm...that sounds very odd. i believe autoflowers will indicate that they are mature, but require the 12/12 or similar periods. otherwise it wouldnt match up with many natural flowering periods in the wild and would die off without offspring
lol WRONG....
"ndoors, Lowryder completely eliminates the need to induce flowering by reduction of day-light hours; indeed, it eliminates the need for a timer, period. Yes, it will grow consistently well and finish under 24 hours of light, from sprouting to harvest, in eight weeks. The point is, with Lowryder, there is no need for a change in the light period to induce flowering, nor is it necessary to have separate vegetative and flowering rooms."
This is why i openly admit when i know nothing about a subject. ^^
I've used a feminized lowryder seed, i'm pretty sure it is a female, don't see any indication its a hermie.
I've gone for 24/7 lighting because I've read that lowryder doesnt require light cycles.
One of you wanted a picture of the whole case:

I'll post more pics of the plant in a few days.
Sorry light had me fooled!Quote:

The reservoir containing the soloution was right down to like an inch, almost below the pump sponge thing, i've filled it back up now... whats caused the yellowing? Anything I can do, thanks for your help. Heres a pic of it...

Also want to add/ask...
Like i say, its coming up to the end of week 5/early week six...... and i've changed my nut's from ionic grow, to ionic bloom...... don't suppose I started it too early on bloom? Should I go back to grow?
I'm sure others will give some more suggestions however, I liked to do a flush before switching over to flower nutes doind DWC. This also allowed me to assess the roots to make sure there is no "sludge" or algae on them which could prevent nute intake. Make sure you pay attention to the water level in DWC as this is the plants main intake of nutes and O2 via the bubbles and will surly hurt them if you allow your water level to get too low.Quote:

Starting week 7 of lowryders short life, it worries me a little there won't be enough time for it to flower a decent yield. Heres my latest photo... how's she doing?

One more question, could really do with an answer:
My plants got lots of buds that arent getting any light because of how bushy/how many leaves the plant has... do i want to do a bit of trimming so they can get light? If so, look in the picture above and tell me where.
Thanks.
Uh oh..... now i REALLY need some help.
I just checked the dates of various pictures, and realised my plants only actually just finished week 4, which means its going to continue growing A LOT. (its drinking like a litre a day atm)..... my problem is:
It's going to continue growing, and will eventually touch the light.. and just keep going, it simply wont fit.
I have no where else to grow it, no other lights to give it..... it HAS to stay in the p.c case..... but its already almost touching the lights.
What the hell do i do?
heeelp.
tie it down with twisty ties or some kind of string. search this site for LST. if you tie it down *hopefully* it will spread out and not be tall but all of the buds will still get light
looks like youve got some room, tie it down so it's growing perpendicular to the light, could increase your yield too
Yes LST has no down falls imo id suggest using this method although its late into the flowering stage it shouldnt cause too much stress. if done early you would have ended up with many colas with sticky icky.
Space is too small, more light! LST FTW

I have looked into LST, but it's my first grow and I guess I am just overly worried something will go wrong if I stray too far from the beaten path.
LST won't hurt anything. You are just tying down the top and limbs that are getting too tall.
I think you are doing great. Thats a nice hiding spot you have there!
Peace!
quick question;
I had a look in my reservoir earlier, huge bunch of white roots , but one tiny bit of one root looks black. If you took a percentage of the whole root system, the black part would probably account for half of 1% of the whole lot. Am I just being paranoid, or could something be wrong?
see how its falling out of the box? YOU NEED MORE SPACE!
Yeah you need more space, those computer case grows wont even work for lowryder. Not too stealthy either, "Hey why is your computer case glowing like the sun, why do you need those huge cooling fans?"
I'd read lowryder would only grow between 12 and 16 inches. I guess it's different in DWC.
You say it won't work, but it kinda looks like it is working. (i hope)
