I wouldn't say he is the best in the world but I hold Phil Selway in high, high regard. Definitely my favourite
Keith Moon
with Jon Fishman in a close second
Fishman is ridiculous, listening to NYE big cypress stuff right now...
Dont forget Neal Peart though, or that one dude from Dream Theater.
Also shout outs to Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann from the Grateful Dead.
yea keith moon is my favorite too
i also like chad smith from chili peppers. i know he isnt the "best" but i just like his style
mitch mitchell from jimi hendrix experience is one of my favorites too.
Maybe not the best but I think Frank Beard of ZZ Top is pretty good, also Simon Kirke, Neil Peart, Abe Laboriel, Jr.
tough question. how does one compare the options? I'd have to second Neil Peart. Kreutzmann and Hart are okay, but they aren't syncopated enough for me to consider them the best. I dig Carter Beauford from DMB. He's one of my inspirations in my own drumming, with the offbeats and abstract rhythms. Fishman is nuts with speed; I don't know how he gets his notes so small with a tempo so fast.
Danny Carey of TOOL,
Stef Broks of Textures,
and Dan Foord of SIKTH are really damn good.
fuck danny carey of tool man, he is amazing, like REALLY amazing, but not the best. id go with neil peart or John Bonham
*edit* and Mike Portnoy for sure. Dreamtheatre people, look it up
Um... Travis Barker

Corky Laing put on the best show of any of them I've seen
Tomas Haake is really damn good.
Listen to any Meshuggah song and you'll see. It takes quiet a few listens to even begin to understand his music.
*edit* and i have been playing drums for almost 6 years..
