**treetop growing idea and setup..**
so i came up with this crazy idea the otha day about growing in trees but it turns out there is alot of info on the subject..well i was thinking of a setup using 10 gallon buckets some moisture holding soil and rope... i was planning next spring maybe May or so put a 2x4 or thicker (wood) horizontally attaching to 2 vertical tree branches around the top of the tree and tieing buckets to a rope and hanging them over the 2x4 and lowering them and raising to water and care for, everything will be colored to blend into the tree.... if u can picture my idea let me noe if its good and wat i cood improve:rastasmoke:

i cant wait to see you do this next spring, though the smell still might give away their position, but then again, maybe not. go for it!

**treetop growing idea and setup..**
can you give us more details.. maybe a rough sketch of your idea? Type of tree? Height? How can you securely attach your pots to the branch? wind... will it be able to get enough sunlight without branches getting in the way... sounds like you are trying to grow as stealthy as possible but it will be tough to maintain the plants while they are up there.

**treetop growing idea and setup..**
Honestly, I'd be more likely to see a plant in a tree than if it were on the ground.
When you are growing outdoors, you can literally have a 15 foot tall Sativa that is bend/trained and will only be a foot off of the ground. Besides, all the branches and leaves from the tree will keep your plant from getting most of the light.

**treetop growing idea and setup..**
well roth89 i drew this the otha day...im not actually securing the buckets to the tree but nailing or bolting a 2x4 horizontilly and hanging the buckets with a rope over it so i can raise and lower to water if its not getting enough sunlight i will just trim some of the leaves from the treetop to let sunlight in i dont think wind wood be too big of a problem either... and comatose i dont think i have to worry about ppl finding my plants everthing will be painted camo and in the middle of 1 square mile of forrest

best to forget the idea of using a 'water-holding soil' ... cannabis wont like that, you need a breathing, well-drained soil .. you could probably use those 'water-crystals or gels', I dont know ... where I live, the DEA dope-chopper would love the view you will give them, much easier for the infrared film to spot it ... .. :smokin:

**treetop growing idea and setup..**
o yea i meant water crystals my bad:stoned: do they work??...ive never heard of DEA flying copters in my area and im not growing 300 plants maybe just 4 per tree and doing it to about 3 trees maybe i wood think it wood be a struggle for copters to see um?? thanx for the warning tho

4 plants in 3 trees... so 12 plants 10 feet tall lol yea... but then again ur usually only at risk around california and most major cities (in the US at least)
hey man, if u feel like it go for it, but i wouldnt plan on getting much out of it. if u just wunna grow, do it the old fashion ways, same binefit - lower risk. :smokin:

**treetop growing idea and setup..**
i live in Rhode Island..so prolly no copters rite?? i tried ground growing last year but u noe how thieves are and there are plenty around:mad:...i found a guy that did this last year and had fantastic results hopefully i can be this lucky:rasta:

This seems like it would be a LOT of work to set up and maintain, and also a lot of risk of someone seeing it. That is quite an elaborate thing to have up in a tree, and I'm sure someone would notice it. Why not just grow in your basement/attic/closet?
-
**treetop growing idea and setup..**
its actually not alot of work if u take a look at the drawing i came up with
**My Treetop Setup** - Cannabis Photo Gallery
everybody thinks someone will notice this setup in 1 square mile of dense woods that nobody ever gos threw...and i have no idea why somebody would think this??
im hoping on doing an inside grow when i get my own place...but i think this idea is genius if u actually take a chance to listen to what im saying jeeeeesh:wtf: :rastasmoke:
-
**treetop growing idea and setup..**
sure give it a whirl man is this on private property? or your own property? plus the 2x4 may get in the way of growth depending on how low you can hang the pots. be careful to only water at nights or something... i like the idea because you won't be growing in your home but its way to easy to get caught... hauling water into the forest seems sketch
-
**treetop growing idea and setup..**
IF I saw someone walk thru the woods with a bucket of water, that would probably catch my eye ... IF I saw someone hoist buckets down, and back up again, into a tree, that damned sure would get ALL my attention :wtf: ... get caught standing next to a plant, you can always claim you didn't see it, etc ... get caught with that rope in your hands, you're in deep do-do ... jointsmile:

i agree 100%. Oh yeah and i could see myself explaining to my kids that daddys paralyzed and bound to a wheelchair cause fell out of the tree watering his weed plants...that would go over very strangely i would think..LOL. Not a good idea. But if you want to risk it, go for it!.

i made a spaceship and flew to the moon like billy bob thorton.... and then i grew on the moon... best rays in the world
-
**treetop growing idea and setup..**
I thought of this. except I thought about putting it inside a burrow on a thick part of the branch. I don't think it will work though, because of wind lots of insects, birds, chipmunks, squirrels, pine needles or what not, etc... oh and climbing up and down the tree to feed it...

hahah i was thinking about that when I was all faded thinking that the flowers would camouflages with all the tree stems and all that.

just try some plants in the trees and see what happens

**treetop growing idea and setup..**
im gonna do it to prove everyone wrong. I think that it is a great idea. If you look at the rain forest you will notice that there is only leaves at the very top of the trees. This is because that is where the light hits the best and it cant get through to the stuff on the bottom. If you think about it the lighting would be perfect. And about getting caught, who is going to pay attention to a mile of heavily wooded woods. I think it is a great idea so i am going to try it and i am going to have a great growlog for everyone to show that this was a great idea. Oh yeah, i am doing to do this in my parents back yard to prove that you will not get caught. So check in with me in the spring. Thanks for the great idea man.

how are you going to prove something you have not done yet...........it will kind of make you look like a fool. and wont your neighbors be wondering why their young neighbor is climbing in a tree everyother day with water?

I am going to prove it in the spring. And I live in the suburbs where my neighbors cant see in the back yard. And his idea says that you use ropes to lower the buckets.

hey JRR im glad somebody actually likes my idea
thanx mann:rasta:

Oops, busted, 57 year olds don't grow in their parents' back yards... come back when you grow up a bit. In more ways than one...
-
**treetop growing idea and setup..**
Growguy420420, I'm glad you gave up on this idea. Things up in trees are a lot more visible from long distances than things on the ground. If I saw ropes going up into a tree, I would naturally want to figure out what is was. And if I saw a plant in a bucket being hoisted up and down a tree, it would make me very curious. Probably better to just find a good secluded and sheltered spot on the ground.
-
**treetop growing idea and setup..**
ok...if your gonna try to get lotsa light to a plant, DONT PUT IT IN< ON< UNDER A TREE!!! find a freaking open patch of ground where theres sun all day. why waste hours of time and much money to grow on a retaded pulley sytem?
