Incense - bad for your lungs?
Yeah well the thread title pretty much says it all.. Does anyone have an idea? I guess it must be, its pretty much smoke, but I've never thought about it before. Nobody seems to complain about second hand smoke from incense like they do from cigarettes. It this cause it actually doesn't harm your lungs much, or just because such a little amount of the population use it so its not a big deal?
Cheers

Nevermind your lungs, it is bad for your electronics because of all the ash and oils that are spread through out the room when burning it and the shit settles in the hardest to get at locations clogging up the works.
Smells nice but I won't burn it.

why would they only clog up the works of your electronics? your breathing the same air in the room.
Incense - bad for your lungs?
I agree that it seems to coat the room and I don't dig it.
Try a nice Sage Smudge. Smells super nice, is very spiritual and is from the Earth right to you.
Incense - bad for your lungs?
I have no idea, but I would assume it's not good for your lungs either way since smoke isn't meant to be in there. But worse than "just bad for your lungs"... I couldn't guess.

As somebody who likes to burn incense and has a lot of electronics in his room, I thank you! I'll keep that in mind for sure.
Thought I'd mention too that I saw a news report a few years back about some Buddhist temples that had huge lung cancer rates, which the professionals said was because of the huge amount of incense they burn almost all the time.

If that is the case, then I could be in some trouble. I am usually burning the real thick tibetan incense..the smokier the better. That would be bad karma if I were to die of lung cancer from incense exposure after quiting cigarettes.

are we talking stick incense, or legal herb "incense"?
Incense - bad for your lungs?
I really don't think you're supposed to smoke that shit! :pimp: haha... i assume you're talking about burning it for the smell... i love it and it helps me relax so i don't really worry about the lungs! i've never really noticed an affect on me though
Incense - bad for your lungs?
We are talking stick incense. As far as I know.
Incense - bad for your lungs?
I love the stuff, but I only burn it when I'm going to be up and about, not just chilling and relaxing. It burns my eyes and nose so bad, never even thought about what it's doing to my lungs.
Incense - bad for your lungs?
Yup talking stick incense.
Thats an interesting point about the electronics, do you think that happens pretty much straight away? Cause I usually burn incense and just look at the smoke and relax and enjoy the smell, and when it's finished open up the window to air the room out.
Whats sage smudge, Doc?

Its a bundle of dried White Sage leaves.
They burn very similar to incense however generally you move through a space with it to purify it and people/yourself and then put it out as opposed to leaving it burn like incense.
Intense, clean, herbal smell that I find very pleasant. The leaves themselves are soft and a reallly cool blue/white and it grows wild a over CA.

I burn powdered incense on charcoal tablets, and have noticed when I burn a lot of it I tend to cough a little the next day.
Incense - bad for your lungs?
i used to not be able to sleep without some nag champa burning

If you used air-cleaning devices, I wonder if it would help to make incense safer or, on the other hand, would it defeat the purpose of burning it in the first place.
Incense - bad for your lungs?
Funny cause i just bought 3 packs of incense sticks yesterday.

I burn some of this nepalese stuff, it reminds me of India. It smells nice, but I'm sure it ain't good for your lungs.

So i would say yes, incense is harmful to your lungs.
I still burn it, i mean it's not that bad, but don't ever hotbox your room, then light an incence and fall asleep.
The next morning was hell!!!
