Israel can destroy Iran's nuclear program, says IDF general
Launching a comprehensive strike on Iran's scattered nuclear facilities would be a challenge, but Israel is perfectly capable of destroying the Islamic Republic's nuclear program should international diplomacy and sanctions fail.
That according to an unnamed Israeli general who gave a briefing to a small number of journalists in Canada last month.
The Canadian Jewish News quoted the general as saying that even if Israel failed to completely destroy every major nuclear installation, its aerial assault would set the Iranian nuclear program back years and even decades.
An increasing number of experts are warning that without military intervention by either Israel or the US, Iran will eventually obtain nuclear weapons.

Israel will NOT allow Iran to get to far on their program. I recall when they bombed out Saddams.....that was against the U.N. wishes also. What was thought of as a bad move at the time turned out to be a very good maneuver in regard to future events.

No one can predict future events. We do not know if Iran reaches its goal that it will use nuclear weapons towards another country that is just speculation. For some reason many people believe they can control others. This is not true. If one really wants to accomplish ones goal they will. For a lot of people to say that Iran would use nuclear weapons against others might be true, but then again it might not. The same goes for people securing their home and persons. We buy guns and ammo to protect our homes. We do not go out into the streets and look for people who might break into our homes. If Iran really wants to attack Israel, they will.

There's a big difference between buying a handgun for home defense and developing weapons that are not only unneeded for defense but which are also capable of killing hundreds of thousands , if not millions, of people.
If you think that people and their behavior cannot be controlled, go try to smoke a joint on the court house steps. You'll learn real soon that people are capable of being controlled. In fact, one of the tenets of a civilized society is that we willingly control ourselves, and willingly allow others to control us, in order to maintain order and civility in our society.
Iran cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons; that is a simple fact. It is also a simple fact that Iran has no defensive need for nuclear weapons. So, Iran absolutely must not be allowed to get nuclear weapons.
I certainly wouldn't let anyone in the US government, particularly not anyone in the lying-ass Bush administration, be the judge of whether or not Iran is actually developing nuclear weapons. However, I think Israel has good intel and they will know when the time is right to strike.
Sadly, it seems to be more a matter of when, than if, a strike will be necessary. But, the Iranians have no one but themselves to blame. They are a democratic society with elected leaders and, if they choose to elect nut jobs to lead them, they will have to bear the consequences of their decisions. ...just as we Americans will have to suffer for many years due to the consequences of electing Bush.

What I am saying is that if Iran wants to attack Israel they're going to do so with or without our permission.
Hezbollah is an resistance group who do not want western culture in their homeland. I don't understand why people find it hard to accept that we are not wanted over there by a majority. I have a strong feeling that if another country would be occupying the USA then there would be huge resistance groups forming. Why are they so different? Why is that Americans seem to no be able to understand that they're a different culture, they're not going to have the same views and beliefs we have here. We can not force our views, and thoughts unto other countries.

You took my example out of context. I understand there is a huge difference between a handgun and a nuke. What I am saying is we need to build and defend our country from our country just like you would your own home. Build our defense up as a nation, securing our borders, then if another country tries to attack us then we can defend our country. Iran, nor Iraq attacked our country on 9/11. A group did, an idea did.
Why do you think Iran has no use for a defensive nuclear program? Why should they trust other countries if we don't? If I seen another country nation building and occupying eastern civilization I would be concerned. With the history US has in our so called conflicts there is no way in hell I would trust the US if I was the leader of another country.

On February 16, 1985 Sheik Ibrahim al-Amin issued Hezbollah's manifesto. According to this manifesto (titled "An Open Letter: The Hizballah Program"), the three objectives of the organization are:[43]
* To expel Americans, the French and their allies definitely from Lebanon, putting an end to any colonialist entity on our land.
* To submit the phalanges to a just power and bring them all to justice for the crimes they have perpetrated against Muslims and Christians.
* To permit all the sons of our people to determine their future and to choose in all the liberty the form of government they desire. We call upon all of them to pick the option of Islamic government which alone is capable of guaranteeing justice and liberty for all. Only an Islamic regime can stop any future tentative attempts of imperialistic infiltration onto our country.
The 1985 manifesto makes it clear that Hezbollah intends to use armed force to achieve these goals and phrases its argument for this measure through the language of defensive jihad:

This sounds a lot more like Hitler's "final solution" than it does like a peaceful people who just want to be left alone.

I tend to be a bit of an isolationist, and I certainly think that our invasion of Iraq was wrong. However, I think it is naive to believe that radical Islamics can be trusted with nuclear weapons. Radical Islam has made its intentions and its goals clear - and those goals do not include a peaceful co-existence with the rest of the world.
Iran is already interfering with the internal politics of Iraq and Lebanon and has funded attacks on Israel. It's just plain stupid to say they should be trusted with nuclear weapons.
