Ocean forest vs. Happy Frog
Happy frog doesn't have bat guano, that much I remember. It's more basic than Ocean Forest.

i say you get light warrior and ocean forest and you mix them together. i did and my plants are loving it so far.

I grew in ffof for years. I just switched to half ffof and half happy frog and the grow so far is awesome. HF is cheaper then ffof so I'm saving a few bucks as well. Add 30 percent perlite and some lime and you are good to go
Ocean forest vs. Happy Frog
Perfect, yeah I was going to add perlite as well, now about the lime... doesn't that raise the Ph? or is that the idea since the nutes might lower it? I guess I can't find what good the lime will do. And not even sure where to get it, how much to add or anything...
I swear, these things have the best pampered life, but yet still give probs lol

A good way to stabilize soil is to use dolomite lime (calcium-magnesium carbonate). Dolomitic lime acts slowly and continuously, so soil will remain pH stable for a few months.
Using fine size dolomite lime is important, coarser grades can take a year or longer to work. You can find fine size dolomite lime at any well stocked garden supply center.
It has a pH that is neutral (7.0). When added to soil in the correct proportions, it will stabilize soil at a pH near 7.0.

I actually posted trying to figure out how much lime to use but I'm pretty sure it was in the wrong place lol. anyway growbe you say when added in "correct proportions" it's good, well thats what i'm having a hard time figureing out since I have never used it. what would that be? like to a 1.5 cu ft bag of FF ocean forrest? ill prolly throw some perlite in there too.
i saw 1.5 cups but then i guess that's too much?

Y'all are makin my head hurt. It's like a tablespoon of lime per cubic foot. Ask Stinky. She'll be able to give you specifics. I'm just a dork.
However...in my experience,(just my experience! don't take it to the bank!) OF doesn't need additives unless the pH of your H20 is wonky. OF seems pretty balanced on its own. And yeah, make your mix 30% perlite. That alone takes care of a host of issues.
Stinky c'mon, I'm drownin' here!

oh come on greenjeans! I'm not that bad, it's just hard sometimes when you see diff things each time, i mean a cup to a tbs... plus I havnt tried the lime thing yet. And see, now I may not need it! thanks ;) ill come back to you if i did! jk jk. I'm not a noob, but just new to a forum with all these new options I've never considered.
And I know you guys enjoy what you do otherwise you wouldn't help us all out
Ocean forest vs. Happy Frog
LOLOLOL! I had a righteous buzz last night. I'm running around doing damage control today. Unless Stinky or another experienced grower tells you different, I stand by my previous post.
IMO, and IMO only, a lot of what constitutes good growing is instinct. Learn from your oopsies, and listen to those who have gone before you. But trust yourself first. Unless you're a tool.:S2:
Ocean forest vs. Happy Frog
ahhh....and no invite... we see how it is ;) but you're right.... messing up just blows though.... so the better prepared, hopefully the better off.
lol luckily I don't believe I carry the "tool" trait :D

Nebraska is a long way from Ohio. But I was thinking of you. Really.
