My CFL clones

Sup everyone been reading a bunch of the logs and so i decided to write one of my own. A lil backstory since my clones are a bit grown. They're about 2 months old and were the 2 best out of 4 clones cut. This was my first time cutting clones and didnt use a humidity dome or anything so a 50/50 survival was fine with me.

I started them in peat pellets and transplanted into 1 gallon pots when roots came through peat netting. Soil was Miracle Grow (slow release CRAP). Surprisingly they did nicely and didnt show any burning or lockout. When I transplanted into 2 gallon pots(same MG soil) they suffered from PH lockout and really slowed down growth not to mention alot of dead foliage. I flushed them with PH corrected water a few times and they perked back up. There was no point in me transplanting into 2 gallon pots but I did out of stupidity LOL. After they settled down from the PH issues they got a final transplant into 5 gallon pots which was done last thursday night. This time I still used Miracle Grow soil but it was the "ORGANIC" mix and added foam rock, peat moss, and chicken shit. MY soil PH was a low/mid 6 so that made me happy. I just got some FF grow big and fed them that but will start using FF tiger bloom now since I started 12/12.

That just about gets everything caught up so now Ill delve into the setup. Its just a simple CFL grow in my closet. Im running 8x26watt (2700k 1750Lumens) CFLs under a homemade hood with dual PC fan exhausts. Temps are in the mid to high 80's with humidity ranging from 55%-65%. Ventilation is terrible with a rigged up 6" fan blowing out the only window in my closet. I have an oscillating fan on them also and a dehumidifier when I need it. I cant cut intake/exhaust holes in there like I would like to so this is what I have to work with. I plan on getting stronger fans eventually.

The clones were the bottom 2 branches off the "mother" which I harvested already. I cut them in half to make a total of 4 clones. The 2 bottom halves were growing better so I kept them and the tops were dumped. They grew 2 nice branches that I topped at the 8th or 9th node to promote bushier growth. Throughout the entire grow I have been doing some LSTing and just started more serious LSTing today.

Monday was the first day of 12/12 so when do I start counting the days for flowering. From monday or when preflowers show? Ill be happy to answer any questions and comments yall have :thumbsup:

Ok so after only 1 day of 12/12 the 2 girls have popped a few hairs over night. I tried to take a couple pics but they all sucked so Ill wait a day for them to really show and fatten up.

Tomorrow will be the first feeding of tiger bloom 1/2 dose. I wanna get some molasses and start feeding them that also, to see how that affects sweetness.

since my preflower pics failed to focus on the actual preflower and only on the foliage behind it, heres some bud shots of the clones mom. Only got a small harvest from her but it was tasty none the less :jointsmile:.

MVP - oh yeah i ripped that. dont got anymore of it though, not until december when i harvest the new batch.

zebulon - yup they were yummy, very sweet fruity taste and smell was a nose tingler. one rip and my eyes would close automatically and drop a tear of delight :) since it was bagseed and didnt come with name this time i like calling it "tear jerker"

cant wait til my girls start plumping up but its still a while til then.

gonna check out some UVB bulbs this week and see if they improve trichome development, and hopefully my "sugar mama" will be buying this time :)

About the molasses and how that affects sweetness....
A few years ago i had grown 5 plants outdoor (the strain was Dutch-Passions Trance) and near the plants there was a few wild-plum trees.I have collected the plums from under the trees, mashed them up good, and i gave that stuff to my plants...whit some water of course...And believe it or not, in the end, after i cured the buds for a few weeks, it had a lovely fruity, plumy aroma and it was nice sweet too...

well this morning i got up early and noticed my exhaust vent had a major light leakage. so im just gonna do a ruff patch up til i get a light proof vent.

besides that its been all good and i redid my LSTing and trimmed alot of the lower leaves and growth since i had some leaves stacked on each other and were sweating.

ok so i checked the girls today and noticed some leaves had discoloration. i think its from 2 leaves laying on each other that creates some "sweat" and the "sweat" then cause the problem. its a darker color almost blackish so im guessing its a mold or a fungus growing from the moisture on the leaves. i have a fan blowing on them constantly to help prevent this but it seems to not be working, so does anyone have any ideas as to what is the cause? it hasnt affected them much, and isnt spreading quickly so id like to catch it before it causes major damage.

Well:wtf:...i think it could be wind damage and/or over-watering.....but i'm not 100% sure...sorry

so its been 1 week of 12/12 and not much happening yet. they just really started to show some hairs emerging so the next week should start picking up more growth and actual bud formations.


on another note, the other night my sis made some "budder" then made some mini snickedoodles with it. we usually make brownies since our last cookies sucked but WOW these were nice and toasty :stoned:. gave my chi-ter(chihuahua toy fox terrier mix) a tiny bit and she was messed up all night big time LOL.


well these didnt come out so great either but what the hey, better than nothing.

ok. but what does the plants look like as a whole now.

heres some pics of the whole plants. they're looking better everyday now with new growth popping up everywhere. doing alot better than there mother did at this stage, so i cant wait til the upcoming weeks.


on the downside ive got fungus gnats again :(. i thought i got rid of them on the last transplant but i guess not. i even added a 1-2" top layer of foam rock but they're still here.

not much to talk about so heres some pics, had to edit them a lil in photoshop to clear them up. gonna start watering every other day since they have some crazy drainage and usually take a 3/4 gallon of water per pot. first sign of nute burn or over watering and ill hold off a day or 2 to recover

Those girls look awesome and I see that you are using fox farm nutes. You might want to also add some of the fox farms big bloom also that stuff rocks gives the plants that extra kick in the buds and gives them a good taste also.:rasta::rastasmoke::pimp:

ill see if my local hydro shop got some big bloom, but they're a bit pricey so i just might order it. im still on my search for molasses but come up empty every time. saw some on ebay but it was $20+ just for shipping a lil jar. hopefully i can find some at a health food store soon.

been having a ton of rain lately so humidity has been higher than usual so to fight that i been running my ma's ac from her room and making it blow towards my grow room :thumbsup: actually brought humidity down 12-15%.

glad to see just how good the cfls are. im running 3 of em (was 4, but they have a hait of one dieing in the first month per package) as well as 2 small floodlights and house bulb. mine are great, but its a great setup ya got, very professional.

so this week i decided to switch my lights to 11/13 and see what happens and so far so good. overnight they almost doubled up in girth. did the last trim to the lower branches so production is focused to the tops, and they started making trichomes finally.


been thinking of some ideas of a new cab and found some nice things in the garage i can use. so far i have 2 small cabs around 18" x 24" x 36" that i can fully cut up if need be, then i have a bigger cab thats 2' x 3' x 5' but its made out of cherry so i dont wanna hack it up to much. im leaning towards the cherry cab since its bigger and has built in power already. ill gets some pics later so everyone can see.

yay mom came home today and she found some BRER rabbit molasses at foodland. to bad i watered them this morning before getting the molasses so it'll be a day or two till the molasses is tried.

saw a couple buds had some pistil damage and started browning :(, so hopefully they'll bounce back soon. on the up side they started to stink a lil this week. now more bad....... i think due to a past light leak it caused a type of herming on one of them. not full nuts but a female calyx with male parts popping out.

i might be getting a 150HPS too so when i do my next cab and grow ill have that to use along with the CFLs. might get 2 just for the heck of it since there on sale for $17.

looks like i been a week ahead of myself LOL. the girls are gonna start week 3 on monday, which turns out to be pretty good considering how much they grew. tomorrow they get fed molasses for the first time so ill be sure to watch for differences from my last grow from now on. smell has been stinking up alot :thumbsup: but not so much to cause issues. patched up the light leaks at the cost of a bit of ventilation, but not much.



first pic is the result of the light leak, although the mother plant did the same thing during flowering so it could be the strain. its hard to see but just under the hairs you can see green finger-like things.

Rep up for a nice looking grow. I also started feeding Molasses about a week ago. I use 2 tbsp per gallon, is that what you use more or less?

itll be my first time using molasses so im gonna start with 1 tbsp first then 2 tbsp once i get to the 4-5 week mark.

ok im bored so i took some pics of my sis's "weapon" its about 18" glass on glass PHX ash catcher. on these bongs you dont get bubbles you get fat gurgles:stoned:. anyone else try one?? this is actually the second one since the first broke by a friend that got replaced within the hour by the breakee :jointsmile:.



last night i switched up my lighting configuration so it spreads light alot better. and it looks like they like it much better. though it could be the molasses they had today.

just a pic update. gonna be getting two 150hps on monday :thumbsup:and eventually DIY cooltube them and use a stanley blower for exhaust. the last pic is my new project cab, i hope to finish by the end of the year. not quite sure if i wanna section off 2 growing areas or just make 1 big one. dimensions are 20.5" x 36" x 54". its already got a intake slot on the bottom so i just need to make an exhaust vent at the top then light-proof and mylar it all.



any questions, advice or tips for my new project or grow just shoot away.

yeah that cab is a bit fancy being solid cherry wood and all but we got the whole set for FREE and tons of other furniture pieces. im "allowed" to use it as long as i dont ruin it, so im trying to devise a way to exhaust the cab. dont know if i should make a vent in the top and put my blower on the roof or make to vents on the top back and put the blower on a shelf in the cab. also thinking of just using my new cab as a flowering box and keeping moms and clones in another cab or rubbermaid.

thank goodness i dont need any type of carbon filter for my grow, cause they stink up my whole room now with the closet closed and its only 3 1/2 weeks in.

got these via UPS today a lil after 4:20. just gotta wire um up to test them out then design something for them to mount to.



ordered me a stanley blower last night too so thats on its way as well. now to get all the little things to connect it all together and make a new cab.

well....... since getting the two 150s ive been thinking on what im gonna do with them, and how the "cherry cab" will be setup. what im thinking is a perpetual grow :thumbsup:.

flowering area will be 36"w x 36'h x 20.5"d and house the (2) 150hps. now here is another thinker on how to do my HPS setup.
should i DIY cooltube them in one bake-a-round or mounted side by side spaced equally, and im thinking batwing reflector either way.

veg/bonsai mums area will be 36"w x 18"h x 20.5"d and house the (8) 26w cfls and maybe (4) 18" 15w flouros. may need some help/advice on wiring the flouros up. is this gonna be an ok height to have mothers in or should it be taller? mother/s will be lst and topped of course.

gonna use a stanley blower for ventilation and plop it on the top of the cab. think i have to use a carbon scrubber this time since ill have a lil more than 2 girls flowering at a time. everything will be DIY to save money.

so does that sound like an ok design so far? comments and critique please.

Yo Irie, ur proly gonna have to get the bake a round, or cooltube for the HID's..especially since gon b in dat closet. I Sampled my 400 watt HPS w/batwing yesterday in a 2ft w, 1.5ft deep, 3.5ft tall, and the light was 2 ft over the plant..temps got as high as 105, but managed to maintain it at 95 w/fan, and..ill reply inna bit room mate gota jump on the comp..

Ok, I checked the temps now that the big midget plant is on the Lanai in the open but w/out fan, and light 3ft over the plant. Temps got up to 89 out there.
I checked out the Reflector hood at Kahala Hydro, and was makin a big difference. Gonna have to choose btween that..regular or DIY cooltube{Which obviously would b cheapest, and interesting to see. Oh, I posted more pics earlier tonite:thumbsup:
