Bongs Confirmed Counter-productive by NORML
I am pissed. My last purchase was a nice new bong. i don't like bongs much, but i wanted to be healthy and get good, big hits.
apparently, bongs are worse for the health than all other moethods except vaping.
also, they waste THC because a good bit is lost in the water.
this was all pointed out in a thread called "so i just got really bored and stuffed a cig full of weed" by Zad515

Smoke Hash Oil!!! Its the healthier way! And the less wasteful also!

I've always believed that bongs wasted weed.I just smoke a regular pipe.If you get some decent weed there's no reason for a bong.:rasta:

You must remeber this study was done it the late 90's !

But... what does it can change the results?

Fine some of the THC is lost in the water.
Drink it!

Vaporizing is healthier than smoking...... :wtf:

My lungs TOTALLY agree with you! I've used cannabis for 40 years, and my lungs were a mess until I got a vaporizer. It took 2 weeks of vaping only to clear my cruddy lungs. I use less pot, too! AND there's very little smell!

im sure the study is 100% accurate, but bongs have always gotten me more high
maybe it's a placebo, but im happy with it and i will continue to use both a bong and a pipe depending on whichever one i feel like using

What's this about "except for vaping" thing in the OP?
Vaping is the healthiest, I think?

Even if its true no human could tell the tiny thc loss in the water. bong till i die, or till i can buy vap:stoned:

IIRC, bongs are much more effective with vaporizers.
Since the cannabis does not go thru combustion, you are left with a lighter vapor in which the THC does not get trapped in the water. I'm not 100% sure though.
I've been using a bong with my vape for a few months now and the water stays clear and hardly even turned amber like it does when smoking.
I'm sure that it's still effective, because I've been using a lot less herb (cut my amount used by almost half).
I have my knob dialed in at around the 11 o'clock position which is still hot enough to burn my throat. That's why I like to use the water to cool the vapors.

although it is kinda strange, expensive, and inconvenient, i may have to start vaping. and quit smoking.
granny, how damaged were your lungs after 40 years? can you post some details of your switch to vaping? thnx!
edit: i am still pissed that i just bought that new bong.

I think people who like to smoke out of a bong are fantasizing its a big hard cock.lol

I hope that was a joke :wtf:
If anything, a pipe can look much more like one, but let's not go there.

THC is NOT water-soluble ... if you have wine, for example, in your bong or water-pipe, it definitely will absorb THC, as THC is alcohol and oil soluble ... :smokin:
-
Bongs Confirmed Counter-productive by NORML
^^ But does it react with fluoride and other chemicals in tap water or other impurities found in bottled water? Plus, milking a bong allows THC to stick to the glass, acrylic, or whatever else you have.
-
Bongs Confirmed Counter-productive by NORML
thats not true, thc isnt soluble in water, your not losing any thc, and also i dont think theyre less healthy than other ways, theres definatley something that stays in the water instead of going into your lungs

Hey, people... instead spending LOTS of money buying vaporizers, why dont you try to make some hash oil?
Its healthier than vaping, it gets you FAR higher, is wastes almost nothing (as its vaporized, and not burnt)... and its easy to do...
After i started to smoke it, i realized how wasteful joints/pipes/whatever are... with the amount of hash oil made with weed worth of 1 joint, i would get some 10 highs... and i mean HIGHS... :stoned::stoned::stoned:
So, IMHO, its the best option... try it, and enjoy!

You can make hash oil with only a joint-worth of weed? I thought you needed a lot more to produce anything worthwhile. There a link to instructions on how you make it?

I've always been skeptical of this study. The water, filters out carcinogens. Thc is NOT water soluble, whatever thc loss there is, it's a moot point anyway because of how little, if anything is lost at all. It's definately cleaner, and healthier then a normal pipe, which is harsh as hell, and a joint, which is paper.. and blunt. Screw that study, experiance is my knowledge.

Here is the recipe!
http://boards.cannabis.com/recreatio...-hash-oil.html
The usual amount of weed i use is about 1/8... but it works with smaller amounts... the smallest i did was about 1g... remember to use a glass with the apropriate size... like... if you will use small amounts of weed, use a small glass... my own glass is some 3 inches tall... it was from a medicine...
Also, for small amounts of weed, use a wine cup instead a dish for evaporating it... as with small amounts of liquid, the hash oil forms a very thin layer that is difficult to scrape if it were on a large surface...
Any questions, just ask! But, please, post them in the link above, as its easier for other people have all the info about hash oil in the same thread...
And good luck!

I understand your point that water-filtration "seems" healthier, but what would be NORML's motivation to lie? especially Canada NORML.... and this isn't the first time i have heard bongs are bad... i just did not believe it until i read such an in depth study as this one.... did you read the entire thing?

I'm quite surprised that so many people had not seen the study I posted. When I linked it in the cigarette filter thread, I was only doing so to cite my source. Glad to spread the knowledge though. :)

It's all about preference at the end of the day. I know for a fact, that if i smoke cannabis from a bong, i will get high. Regardless of this study and the supposed thc loss. I will never stop smoking bongs or bubblers because of this study and i emplore others to do the same. How is smoking from paper, or a tobacco leaf or a normal pipe any more healthier then a bong? Sure vapes and eating it but realistically, the majority of people don't do this as often as those who bong it. That being said, i wouldn't go out and buy a really expensive bong, i'd just get a reasonably priced bubbler.

what crap i get more high on bong than any other method, pipes j's are more harsh on my lungs and doesnt get me that high, and i dont cough as much on bong... so to me i think bongs are great and im gonna keep smoking out of them!!

My sentiments exactly.
I'm high so go along with this weird collaboration of ideas:
This study, is like someone telling me that the moon is not really the moon after centuries of calling it the moon. Infact, it is the moom, fuck that, it makes little difference, it's the moon. Maybe someone besides me got that, if not, oh well, there'll be other times.
Bong on!

Reefer Rogue i am not diagreeing about bongs at all because i hit my 2 foot glass on glass beast every day...
but as far as the moon theory, pluto isn't a planet anymore....
BUT BONGS > EVERYTHING ELSE
-
Bongs Confirmed Counter-productive by NORML
My moon theory is weak and flawed, i care not though.
Bongs ftw, well i class bubblers as the same, which is what i use rite now.

Bongs Confirmed Counter-productive by NORML
just like to point out....
i cant remember a link, but i remmeber it being mentioned in relation to this study, that there was a similar study that showed whiel bongs were less effective in terms of THC transfer, they were actually more effective in reducing resperatory irritation. So even though youre not getting as high, its still easier on your lungs.
plus come on people, start putting personal experience into this, smoke a pipe for a month a cuple times a day, adn youll get a smokers cough, at least i know i will. switch to a bong and that cough will dissapear within the weak. When i smoked bong hits alllll the time, my lungs felt really nice, i never got short of breath or anything. But ive noticed now that ive switched to joints mostly, that i need to exercise much mroe to keep my resperatory system healthy.
but man, when exercise is biking through downtown traffic at rush hour, then the extra exercize is very welcome. especially if you exercise with a joint :).

i dont doubt NORML but i mean, shit happens, people get stuff wrong all the time.

Been smoking dutches since day one, have no plans on changing.
-

I guess these studies are flawed or something, i dont know, but i choose to go off of personal experience, bongs get me higher and are not as bad on my lungs as bongs or joints are, when used with potent weed so i only have to take like 3 hits to get wrecked.
