I would like to hope there's a God. But intellectually I have my doubts. I have seen evidence that makes me think there could be and evidence that makes me think there couldn't, too. I'm not someone who can easily take things on blind faith, and I'm not someone who believes in the super-natural.
I consider myself a "reverent agnostic" and an optimist. There'll forever be a part of me that hopes there is a God. I also consider myself a scientist. That part of me wants concrete proof. I feel very strongly that we all need to respect others' beliefs in this area, no matter what they are.
I actually disagree with what surreys said. I don't think that would happen. Since people never go there now, no one would know that there were more posts in other sections.

People definitely do go to that area. We have to patrol it more closely than nearly any on these boards. You can check the dates on those threads and see that there's daily activity there.

The existence of God can neither be proved nor disproved. There are many definitions of God. Many Americans think of the Christian God when the word god is brought up. If that is what you are asking, then, no.
I do not subscribe to any particular religion, and I may never. I do believe in spirits, and I do believe God exists, so yes.
But I do not believe God can be defined. I also believe we all have equal access to God. Therefore, no books need to be written about God, and no religions need to be spread. I do not believe anyone has special access to God, such as prophets, priests, or people who claim to be descendants of God, or proclaim to be gods themselves.
I believe everyone can find God on their own, with no spiritual guidance from someone else. Defining God is like trying to define love. We know about love, we may have or have not experienced it, but the definitions among the human race, though sharing a common theme, are varied, subjective, and individual as a person's face.
I believe in God. I do NOT believe in any religion, I'm a Diest.
While I have my doubts that our simple meat brains could ever grasp the concept of a God, I do hope that there is something.
My current leanings are towards a universal consciousness, and that when we slip this mortal coil, our "soul" joins that. Sort of the Universe learning itself through our experiences and how we interpret them.
God is a word of mans and therefore the concept is also mans, it is an attempt to propose a carrot stick system for life in which doing the "right" thing is rewarded :) and digresions are punished.:(
God is also an answer for the questions we cannot answer , convenient since most "gods" have powers beyond human understanding,
This means that there is always an opt out for "I have no fuckin' idea" , instead you can just say "thats a miracle", "the work of god" lol

I used to think I was an atheist, but I realized I'm an adeist. I can't be sure of the ultimate nature of reality, nobody can really, I just know I want to explore what reality is and find all the answers I can. But when it comes to some separate conscious "guy" up there, creating the universe, judging our actions, punishing and rewarding us according to how we stroke his ego and follow his rules... well that's just an incredibly primitive notion IMO.

there has to be a creator... imagen walking in the forrest with a friend and seing a building. Now your friend tells you that the building was created by itself, by chance. it took the building millions of years to reach its final shape. would you believe that? fuck NO you wouldnt. the same goes for a living cell, which is a million times more complex then a building. you think the cell was chance or designed by a creator?
Better to just respect the person. Respecting beliefs that are idiotic, dangerous, and scientifically proven to spill blood is not healthy for the village. It reminds me of the saying, "Salute the rank, not the soldier." This sets up an alternate reality. Nature is real and there and living for study and worship? I agree, I have long felt that there may be some being of a higher conscious than we mere mortals, however as yet no proof has come my way so I am still sceptical. I don't agree with the current Catholic & Christian view points, I don't think that the thousands of years have helped their story with multiple versions of a testament. I just don't think that a higher conscious being would tell someone to sit in building dedicated to "him" and follow strange customs. Something just doesn't sit right with that for me, so I'd say no, I don't believe in "God" ... but some higher conscious being, well, maybe.Quote:

if you read the bible.... the god as they describe it is terribly insecure, incredibily jealous, and if i do say so myself, quite arrogant....
those are three qualities that do not in ANYWAY mix with a divine and perfect entity... but it's painted all over the bible... there's no denying that part of it.... it's not like it's only mentioned or hinted at a few times through the book, it's EVERYWHERE..... infact, it's the one strongest example of the bible contridicting itsself.... they describe god as all loving, caring, forgiving, wise, and perfect, YET on other pages he's shown as an insecure, jealous, arrogant and spiteful entity....

i dont belive in religion, so therefore i dont belive in god in a conventional way. i dont believe there is 1 supreme being or any for that matter, i dont know what i would call it power of the universe... mabye. i believe theres more to things after you die that thats not just it. nothing in life is really that bad... so why would death be a scary horrible thing? mabye its just as simple as your energy goes back to where it came from... the universe?
The universe is just way to complex... infinetly complex... like space is infinetly vast, while molecules and atoms have cells inside cells that are infiently small. just look at how complex the human body is. there has to be someting special out there... guess none of us will ever know till we die haha.
