(2) 250w HPS Vs. (1) 400w HPS?
Space is 2 feet by 5 feet
At first I was thinkin that 2 250w would be better becuase its more watts and has a more even coverage but then I was thinking that 400w would be more intense. Which is better?

(2) 250w HPS Vs. (1) 400w HPS?
I've got one 400 watt in a cool tube in a 5' cabinet. It's centered in the cab, and the light coverage isn't very good at the sides. I have some mother plants in there now, but I'm going to switch to two lights when I use the cab to flower in.

i used a single 250 watter before and i found that it wasnt intense enough. the buds were sort of airy at best.

i would go with two 250's they would spread the light more evenly and give you a little more lumens wich is allways better good luck
hey romdog what do you yeild with that 250 watter ?

Apparently 600's are the most efficient so a 400 would be slightly more efficient. I'd still go with the 250's.

agreed, if the choice is two 250-watt, or one 400 watt, go with the 500-total watts, for better coverage ... :smokin:

Also consider any plans you have for upgrading later on. If you plan on getting a bigger lamp down the road the 400 may be a better choice - less lamps, ballasts, chords to deal with. But... 100 extra watts and better coverage is the right choice.

According to the great "Bible" by Cervantes, it is always better to choose 2 of a smaller watt HID's as long as they atleast match watts in the larger.
By choosing 2 250W, you will be able to put the lights closer to your plants (probably why an above poster had "airy" buds), get more coverage, and probably run cooler. An all around good choice.

see im different i would say the 400w purely because you will buy another one down the line and have two 400w. i haven't had any issues with my single 400w, i just modded the reflector ;)

This is a real good point. Two 400's would be much better than two 250's. If you did one grow under a 400, it might not be optimal but it would allow you to buy another 400 and then your second grow would be killer.

i got the 400w switchable because i can upgrade later. the 600 seems optimal but you have to start somewhere. i wasnt disatisfied with a 150w but you will want to get bigger when you can(almost guarenteed). get something that is sort of universal and you can use it in later projects. 400 will/should reach deeper and get bigger plants, but if you are doing a sog or something you might want a 250. but then you need 2 ballast to go with them. 6 of 1 half dozen of the other. lol.

the only possible solution...2) 400 w hps and 1) 250 hps...
