Check / calibrate your new meter -n- pray it's wrong . Or you need to buy a Reverse Osmosis System .
Bummer

how can i calibrate it....its brand new and i just got it today
Didn't it come w/ any instructions ?
Most need 4.0 - 7.0 calibration soloution . Most are adj. using a lil tiny eyeglass screwdriver . What kind is it ? Got a pic. ?
Crispi
yea it says to calibrate with NaCl....it is a HM digital TDS-3....i got it on ebay... what would happen if i just kept using the high ppm water without getting a ROS...?/
Wouldn't you rather know the meter you just paid big bux for is right ?Quote:

Yes i want to know it is right...but where can i get NaCl and how do i know what is in the water??
Are you in the city or counrty , City water , Well water ?
I got a 8 oz. bottle of each 4.0 - 7.0 for like 12.00 online .
If your in the city - Usually once a yr in your junk mail - by law they have to give you a breakdown of everything your water contains on average . Total ppm and percentages of each element / compund in the sample . Call your Dept. of public works , or city hall= it should be on public record .

I live in the country...and have well water...
You need an R/O system .
Crispi
dam....do you know the cheapest one possible to get??? and where
Same place you got the meter . Ebay
I gave 200.00 for a 4 stage sys. w/ enuf spare filters / membranes to last 5 yrs. from a seller in S.D.
Weedhound has the same prob. you do / or will encounter soon w/ the poo poo wellwater . :(
Peace

Do u have a link to his thread?? Yes i guess i am either going to buy an R/O or go to my local natural spring and check the ppm of that and maybe use it somehow
home depot 150 buck for a pretty good size 1 too, easy to install as well no pun intended "well" lol
yes they are nice...ok thankyou i will check out home depot
It kind of depends on the size of your garden too. If it's a small garden, you can use bottled water. The kind that you get from a machine or water store for around a quarter a gallon. You can also look on ICmag.
This is a thread for a cheap DIY Ro filter setup for small scale growers...

Yea i just went and bought an R/O so now all i have to do is figure it out....
I have the TDS1...Love it...
Testers (ph tds etc)
yea me too..
Crispi, can I have some of what you're smoking? :DQuote:

LOL - NaCl is common salt. I suppose you could make a saturated solution in distilled water and you would know about what the ppm should be, but calibration solution is soooo much easier.Quote:
but where can i get NaCl...??
