The weed gives me super human hearing... you too?

When I smoke out my hearing ability goes through the fucking roof. Seriously, I'd say it triples or even more. I'll hear someone across the street getting out of their car and think someones bangin' on my door or window. It literally seems that loud to me, and when I'm sober I would hardly even hear it. I can hear entire conversations of people in other rooms who are talking very quietly, and in the same situation if I am sober it just sounds like incomprehensible mumbling.

Does that happen to anyone else? It goes away after about 20 minutes even though I'm still high. I guess it only happens when I'm at that highest peak point. It trips me out ever time.

I currently smoke Trainwreck out of Cali b/c that's all I can get my hands on (not that I'm complaining, I love the strain). I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I also smoke no more then once a week or so... so I get pretty lit.

Yeah, it used to make me so paranoid. I don't think my hearing literally improves, but I notice very quiet sounds more, in fact every sound I hear, I notice when I am stoned. It does make the quiet sounds seem louder because I am noticing all of them. Not to say that your hearing is not actually improving some how. Maybe increased blood flow to the ears?

Yeah I know what your saying. It seems like you can separate sounds and they sound a lot louder and clearer. When I get real baked I can sometimes hear the sound of myself blinking (like a little thud noise), before I knew what it was I used to get paranoid that someone was in my house, lol.

Yeah, I think it is definitely linked to the paranoia. I don't really get paranoid as much as my senses get very sensitive. Music is great to listen to high b/c I pick out grooves and subtle things I don't quite here when I'm sober.

The reason people believe that they can hear better or have super human hearing is because the THC diminishes activity in the frontal lobe, which is the part of the brain that controls judgment and reasoning.

It decreases GABA transmission and increases dopamine, serotonin, and glutamate transmission in the frontal lobe. Hyper stimulation of dopamine receptors in the frontal lobe impairs working memory, judgment, and decision making, much like the disruption associated with methamphetamine.

So these "big insights" you guys have are just ordinary thoughts.
And those "intense sounds" you hear are just your brain interpreting the signals as overtly important.

I think it's somewhat plausible that someone can hear better while high, just think why everyone likes music so much more, you can hear things you've never heard before.

haha mine makes my ears ring a little bit

All I'm saying is I hear much more sensitively stoned. I don't just "believe" I do. I actually do. My brain actually processes audible signals with greater sensitivity. It seems like you understood me to say the sounds actually get louder (as far as the real decibel volume). I'm not saying that; how could my smoking weed make my neighbors actually talk louder??

I'm saying my body hears them as louder and hears more detail and clarity. "Overly important in your brain" basically just means "louder in your brain". And your brain is where audible signals are processed.

When I'm not stoned I never hear conversations of other people in my condominium. When I'm baked I can literally hear entire conversations. I totally agree that the dopamine probably plays a big part of that. It is a very cool thing. It's freakin' amazing actually.

Also, the "big insights" weed gives me aren't just ordinary thoughts. Certainly a lot of thoughts experienced while high are just ordinary. But again, weed sometimes brings a unique clarity and creativity to the thought processes. I'm a patent agent, patent attorney, and inventor and some of my best work as far as improving concepts and models has come when I'm stoned. I'm also a musician and the weed seems to really give me a boost of creativity when it comes to laying down tracks with a nice groove and feel. (This comes from listening to the recording later, so its not just bias experienced while high).

I go deaf for a while sometimes, It scares the shit out of me sometimes.

mine stays the same but some times it gets worse. one time i kept having to turn up the stereo cause it kept getting softer until i came down. it was loud as fuck, the volume was up to around 50 when i normally think loud is 20 (i can hear it good in my kitchen which is across the house at 20). but i have something else that happens to me when i smoke. i get the power to understand people that mutter things under their breath and that stutter even both at the same time!!! i know, it's awesome. this one kid in my psychology class that no one can understand cause he mumbles and stutters, sounds normal to me and the funny thing is that he is talking shit about people all the time. i laughed at what he was saying and he looked startled that i could understand him! greatness...just call me...super-communicator! MUHAHA

if it makes you see better, why cant it make you hear better? though no proof, but mj relaxes the muscles behind your eyes, its possible it does the same for eardrums. it just relaxes you enough to be aware of your surroundings?

It gives me super human strength and my dick seems to grow about 6 inches too.lol
